A trip of firsts- starting with my first PTR for October 2013! (TR Link Posted 10/17)

Yay for MNSSHP tickets! :cool1: Sounds like a great day at Epcot.

I wish we were going during F&W now! I was looking at some of the offerings and they sound so good! You'll have to share tons of pictures!

The line for Snow White was super long when we went in January so I would say try to get there before one of her sets!

I wish you were able to go to F&W too! But of course it gives you an excuse to go back to Disney again ;)

Thanks for the tip!! I will definitely be bringing along character schedules so I can stay ahead of the game.

And thank you for being such a loyal reader :)

I'm in for your PTR. EVerything sounds fun so far! We've never done MNSSHP but I'd love to sometime. Can't wait to see pictures. Speaking of, I like your ariel then and now pics! Cute!
We are going in January 2014 and I started my first PTR also. Come check it out if you have some time.

Thank you so much for following along! And thanks for the compliment on the Ariel picture :) I will definitely come check out your PTR too!

Joining in! Too bad our trips don't overlap, but I have a feeling you will LOVE an October visit! :goodvibes It's so fun getting into the Halloween spirit Disney style! Mostly for me too because I don't like being scared. :rotfl:

I love that you are making a list of your firsts. It's so fun to go an experience all new things. We will have a lot of those on our upcoming trip because SO much has been added between Disney & Universal since the last time we were there! The Welcome show is one of my all time favorite WDW things, and I know you will love it. I have never seen Dream Along With Mickey beginning to end, but that will be a first for us too. I do know every single word of the show though because we listen to the audio in the car ALL THE TIME for DS! He loves it!

So jealous that you are doing 2 parties! Maybe I can convince DH while we are there that we should do another one... There is SO much I want to do and I feel like we won't have enough time! :hyper:

Yay I'm so happy you're here! I am very excited to experience Disney at Halloween; and I'm with you, I don't like being scared either!

I'm glad we both will get to experience new things! So funny that you know all the words to Dream Along With Mickey :)

You should definitely try and convince DH to do 2 parties. You can always use the excuse that you won't be back for a while so you just have to squeeze in every ounce of Disney that you can! :rotfl2:

Long time no post! I was off from work last week for some mini vacations so I've been MIA from the boards, but I'm back now! Less than 40 days to go until I am Disney bound!

DAY 4 PLANS - OCTOBER 8TH

Today is the day we head to the dark side- Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure! We will be doing both parks in one day, so I definitely want to get there at park opening! We will head to the studios side first to ride: Despicable Me, Transformers, The Simpsons Ride, Men In Black, the Mummy, ET, and possible Shrek 4D. Barring any changes, we also will be catching the Despicable Me mini parade/M&G. Mom and I are HUGE Despicable Me fans. I got to catch the parade and meet all the characters last trip so I'm hoping the same can happen for her!

Lunchtime will be spent eating at and exploring the new Simpsons themed area. This is the part of the trip Dad is most excited about! He loves the Simpsons and I'm so happy all this new stuff will be open when we go! We will definitely be stopping by Moe's Tavern and the Duff Brewery. Lunch will probably be at one of the new quick service places. I'm sure we'll have another go on the Simpsons ride as well.

Whenever we are done, we will head over to Islands of Adventure. There are only a few rides that are priority here, so I'm not really worried about time. My goal is to get over there by 2pm. The 3 must dos are: Spiderman, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter & the Forbidden Journey. I am not even a HP fan but I love that ride SO much! I also will need to grab some delicious butterbeer when I'm in the area :cool2: Other rides we might check out are Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges (though I'm hesitant because I know how soaked we will get), the Trolley Ride in Seuss Landing, and Poseidon’s Fury Show. Depending on time I'm hoping we will be able to sneak a second ride on Forbidden Journey too. IoA closes an hour before the Studos, so if we are up for it maybe we will head back over there to ride any favorites again or check out Cinematic Spectacular.

I am pretty sure we will be eating dinner at CityWalk, though I'm not sure where. Hard Rock & NBA City are probably contenders. We like Bubba Gump Shrimp & Margaritaville but have been to both of those places several times before. Does anyone have any favorites places to eat at CityWalk??

List of Firsts for the day:
-Transformers Ride
-Exploring the new Simpsons area
-Eating at CityWalk

We're planning a trip to the dark side too. This trip will be so much fun. I want to watch Despicable Me 2 before we go. I love it when we have movie nights right before the trip.

Despicable Me 2 is awesome!! And movie nights are great because they get you so excited for the trip

Sounds like a fun trip with your parents! I'm in the process of doing the planning for our own trip on 10/3 - 10/8, and right now it looks like we'll be doing MK, MNSSHP and Epcot along with you. Maybe we'll see you guys at the rope drop! :)

That's awesome, happy planning to you!! Maybe you will! ;)

Following along! My upcoming trip is a trip of firsts as well! I'm super excited to check out F&W, I think I'm most excited to try the cheddar cheese soup in Canada; Mongolian beef with steamed bun in China; Grilled cheese with pistachios and honey (Greece booth); Lobster roll (Hops & Barley booth); Fishermans pie (Ireland booth); beef bolognese ravioli in Italy; and beef with sweet potatoes (South Africa booth). Haha I hope we're hungry!

I'm jealous that you're making time to visit the Dark Side on your trip. We just didn't feel we had the extra day and there's so much at WDW we still haven't done (for example, two whole parks: HS & AK!). But I'm hoping maybe we can go next year, when the Harry Potter expansion is done. I know my DH will love Springfield USA!

Welcome!! And hooray for also having a trip of firsts! I DEFINITELY plan on bringing my appetite to Epcot :woohoo: The cheddar cheese soup and Lobster roll are top on my list too!!

I understand wanting to make a trip to the dark side, but considering you have never done HS or AK you definitely have a lot on your plate, so many amazing things to check out in those parks! And it just gives you an excuse to make another trip, and even better if you can go once the new HP stuff is done. I am very excited to check out Springfield :)

I'll be sure to hop on over to your PTR now!

Awesome day by day planning log! I love planning our DW trip too; so much so I use Excel to be sure there is no reservation overlap! I've even saved our trip planning sheets since 2010. We have been going every year for the F&W since 2000.

I also have a sheet of the tours offered by Disney to be sure we hit every one of them once (although the Segway tours are still cancelled until further notice). This year we will be trying Wild By Design for the first time. Really enjoyed Undiscovered Future World, but I think the Wild Africa Trek (2011) is my favorite. If you get the chance, Behind the Seeds is a nice one hour walking tour of behind the scenes at the Land. Only $18pp (15% discount with DVisa).

In 2011 we did IoA too; HP was awesome! We were there first thing in the morning when the crowds were almost non existent. I think we did the dueling dragons four times in the first half hour. :faint: The HP ride queue is amazing, worth waiting for the crowds to develop.

Were you able to get your resort discount? I noticed a discount for WL came out one week after I made reservations. When I called about it, the CM refunded the difference with no fuss. I love Disney.
Between that discount, the free round-trip flights on SW (SW Visa) and the discounts I get with my D Visa, this is a budget year for us! :cool1: (Not going for one year is just not an option!:goodvibes)

Thank you! It's awesome to keep your planning sheets, it will be nice to look back on those.

That's so cool that you are doing all the tours! And thanks for the tip, I'd love to do that one day!

Yes I was able to get my resort discount! How great that everything is working in your favor budget-wise. Since you have been going every year for the past 10+ years, I can see why not going is not an option :goodvibes

Hope your mini-vacations were fun!

Sounds like a great day at Universal. I haven't seen either of the Despicable Me movies :confused3. I feel like I need to work on that!

The Hard Rock would be fun to eat at! We ate at the Hard Rock at Universal when we went when we were little and I've eaten at the one here in Manhattan plenty of times and it's always good. I can't wait to hear about wherever you decide!
