A Topsy Turvy Trip To Alaska! June 2015

Sunday morning was when we last went. On that Sunday at least it was super serene.

I agree that Vancouver is definitely worth a visit... We also rented bikes at Spokes and took a ride around Stanley Park. If its a nice day, I highly recommend it.

I am very excited to spend time in Vancouver precruise next summer. I really want to bike Stanley park but feel concerned about your comment that it could be dangerous for kids with the crowds, so I am thinking maybe if we go right away in the morning it will be better. Do you or any other readers have insight about that?

Depends on the day. There aren't a ton of crowds in the park on a weekday, and as you'd expect there are more people on a weekend ... 'cause it's a park. We spent time there on a Sunday in the morning and I definitely never considered it unsafe for kids. In fact, there were a bunch of kids on bikes and everybody seemed fine. Let's face it, unless they are new to biking, most kids handle their bikes better than the average desk job adult. I seriously wouldn't worry about it, but heading there in the AM if you're going to be there on a weekend is probably a good idea either way.

Thanks @jeffbear we will be there Sunday, so we will go in the a.m. My three year old will be riding in a seat but my 7 year old is very dramatic in life and in biking so less crowds will be better(for my sanity :crazy2:)

Thanks jeffbear for helping out! Mrs Green, if you're going there on Sunday try to go in the am. Also depends on when you go in the summer season. Like I said, we were there on Fathers day, it was the beginning of summer, and all of Vancouver was busy probably because of visitors for the FIFA soccer game that day. Also helped that they were having unusually warm weather that day! If you ride in the front and your husband/ another adult rides in the back with your 7 year old between you two I'm sure it should be fine! I just found it a bit intimidating when multiple people try to speed past! :)

Yeah, I think that's good advice. Seven year olds can vary a lot in their bike riding ability. The path isn't especially wide in some places and there can be a lot of bike traffic at varying speeds. Sometimes it can almost seem like a traffic jam and you just have to be patient. If your 7 year old is pretty steady and can handle slow spots, I think you'll be OK with you on each side of him. If he/she is unsteady or tends to be all over the place, you might want to rethink it.

Waiting to hear more about your cruise! I feel like we are sisters though....I am an over planner who uses a spreadsheet for my outfits and uses google maps to "walk" around my hotel before getting there so I feel like your trip report is my own! We do a countdown ring and I attempt to color coordinate as well!! :)

I was on that same sailing! I remember seeing your family's awesome matching outfits on the ship. I can't wait to read more!

We were on the same cruise as you. In fact, I had read your trip report on the Mediterranean because that was the cruise we were supposed to go on last summer, so when I saw you on the Wonder I recognized you. We spent Friday to Monday in Vancouver pre-cruise, and on Sunday, we went to Capilano but later in the afternoon. We started our Sunday at Grouse Mountain and had spent all day Saturday at Stanley Park.
