A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

Glad to hear the prognosis is much better, I hope he heals well and he gets lots of rest. Your in my thoughts. :flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

Have a great week Jill and Brooklynn !!!

MeMom, you must have posted your update right before I posted my response cuz I missed it!

I'm SO happy that Drew is home safe with you. It sounds like he's in for some pain, but thank God he's okay.

What a scary time it must have been for everyone.

first off, i'm SO GLAD drew is at home and doing as well as can be expected. i heard "bleeding from the brain" and immediately thought the worst. i've been thinking about you guys all night. i actually dreamed that i woke up this morning and you had posted that he was okay, so i'm glad my dream came true!

She didn't want anyone near her, as she might get germs, and she didn't have germs and didn't want germs.

this just cracked me up. everyone has germs! :rotfl:

I told Trent that we had just been talking about nurses on the Disboards in the past two days. He was delighted to hear that I could somehow bring the Disboards into the conversation. ;)

i was thinking about this last night too! that's so odd how we were just talking about that.

I took the opportunity to warn them all about the helmets, and immediately they all said that that was the weird thing, because Drew always wears his helmet. They said they had already talked about that, and it did reassure me, because their talk was genuine, and not just a put-on for me. I know I've seen many videos of Drew riding, and he does wear his helmet. It makes me wonder why on this night he was not wearing one.

that is so odd. the ONE time he doesn't wear it, something happens.

I'm sure that there were parents who left the park with kids who were convinced of the importance of wearing their helmets. The kids said there was a huge puddle of blood, so maybe, until it washes away in the rain, it will be there to remind them to be safe at all times and not even occasionally take of the helmet.

so good that you're seeing the positive side of this!

I'm going to go get his pain meds and ear drops filled, and then I've got to get a little sleep, too.

hope you get caught up on sleep!

Happy Birthday, Jilly-bean! party: :bday: I love you past Pluto! I hope you have a great week. You deserve it. You are a fantastic daughter, sister, wife, and mommy! I am very proud of who you are - especially of your thoughtful, giving heart.

:flower3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JILL!!!!! :flower3: i hope you have a magical day! you share a birthday with my stepdad, so you're in good company. ;) he's playing golf with my mom and some buddies in shelbyville right now, so you're both in your happy place.

Oh MeMom, I just read everything that has happened to Drew. Your family are in my prayers. My churches prayer chain is praying for Drew too. Just wanted to let you know that many people are praying for Drew and you too as you take care of him. Prayers and hugs are going out to you from me.

An older man dressed in his nice Vandy shirt wheeled in a woman with a scraped face and hand. Trent figured she probably got trampled in a victory stampede.

Happy Birthday, Jilly-bean! party: :bday: I love you past Pluto! I hope you have a great week. You deserve it. You are a fantastic daughter, sister, wife, and mommy! I am very proud of who you are - especially of your thoughtful, giving heart.

Ok....leave it to MeMom to make me laugh and then cry all in the same post :goodvibes

I'm sorry you guys had to fight all that traffic last night b/c I'm sure it was CRAZY over there. It was crazy the whole day really!! I know you just wanted to get to your baby and FAST!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to tell us about last night. I know of all things you need and could be doing I appreciate you taking the time to fill us in!

I have and will continue to keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers :goodvibes

I wish I could come give you a BIG

I hope Drew continues to get much better quickly. He is young and will heal fast and he just better be more careful on that bike!

Many :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:'s to your whole family and I hope Jill has a WONDERFUL :bday:(I forgot she and Matt share the same) and a great rest of the time at WDW!!

Do please keep us updated on Drew's progress & don't stress over responding to all of us. We love you and know your feelings as well :goodvibes

THANKS! :flower3:

I'm so glad Drew is doing better. You guys will still be in my prayers.

Cathy

Eek. The Dad. Must have been a really rough night for him. I love the picture of Brooklynn at the end of your last update MeMom. Her whole body just screams Disney happiness! :)

She is happy when she's at Disney World. She knows her way around the place, too!

HAVE FUN JILL & clan!!!!!
You should be there soon if not already :goodvibes
And have a GREAT Birthday!!! :cake:

She will, I am sure. She better have that video camera running or I'm going to get her!

Glad that Jill and family made it to Pop okay -- how I wish I were there right now! What a great place to be on Saturday night (or any night)!

I would DIE if Disney couldn't find my reservation! Glad that was squared away for Jill's friend.

Hope the pizza and naps help everyone to have a great time tonight! :goodvibes

Well, everyone in Disney World had a great night. Nashville, on the other hand (or collarbone) was a different story, as you now know. ;)

So is today Jill's birthday?

Glad they arrived safely and the rooms resie worked out!

:grouphug: to MeMom for staying at home.. I am always sad when others are at the world!

Since I am a day late in answering, I can now say, "Yes, today is Jill's birthday." I think something is wrong, though, because I distinctly remember it was I who went through all the pain on that day and yet she's getting a Disney trip.

aww thats terrible that jill had to go through that...but u wouldnt belive how often it happens...and u never know why :confused3 im glad it was sorted out :thumbsup2 just hope it didnt take too long to straighten everything out

thats why its always good to have those res numbers with you. When i use to do check ins if i saw it in hand i automatically asked for it that way if it doesnt come up with last name, i check the res number before i start to worry the guest.

I am always armed with my print-outs. She probably got worried faster since she had already gone through a little of it at Magical Express. She was probably really ready to get worried fast.

Goodness! That must have been a scary few minutes for Jill as JakeEddie tried to find the reservation. So strange that it was under her maiden name!
I am so jealous of them right now! I want some pizza and a nap at Pop!

She called me from out by the lake this morning and said it was so pretty and peaceful.

Little Caleb is doing well. He is now sleeping well and only getting up every 3 hrs or so at night. He is nursing very well and the jaundice is getting better (he had a pretty servere case). We started using these swaddle blankets that have velcro and they work very well and he sleeps awesome in them. I still need to upload photos but just have not had time yet as we are mini van shopping since we found out that there is not much room left in our car after we get all the baby stuff in there. Baby Caleb is a very good car rider as we have been all over northwest and central Ohio this past couple of days.

Speaking of nurses...we had great nurses while we were in the hospital. They are completely the total caregivers...you barely even see the doctors. We were soo impressed with their care that we sent a flower arrangement to the family birthing center at the hospital to thank them for all of there wonderful care which I am sure they do not get thanked all that often. I am sure it is a very thankless job. They sure do earn every dollar that they make.

It is not a job I would want!

I'm glad to hear Caleb is doing well. Don't you just love him so, so much already???

Getting in and out of the car will be a bit more of an ordeal than it used to be! :)

I may have read it wrong -- I was just waking up from a nap.

I always print off a copy of everything because I am always so paranoid that something like that will happen to me!

I think it is fabulous that she is at MK right now! Just knowing that someone I "know" is there, makes me happy! :goodvibes

Me, too. I think it's the teacher in us. Make duplicates of everything.

I don't know how to post a quote that you made to me when there are multiple responses on the same post. So let me just say, that I'm sure that there were some people writing about me. I would be writing about me:rotfl: :rotfl: Thankfully my kids are big enough now that I would just send them back to the room and not deal with it. Seriously, kids are still your kids wether you're on vacation or not. They don't change, unfortunately.;)
Glad that JakeEddie was able to figure out Jill's ressie problem. Weird though. I'm so jealous that she's there now. I hope she has a great birthday! And lots of :wizard: coming her way!!

You're famous!
Or in this case, infamous.

Hello everyone. I am coming to you right now from my room at Pop. Unfortunately I am not here on a happy note. I come asking you our extended family and friends for prayers. Trent just called and informed me that he and MeMom are at Vanderbilt hospital emergency room with Drew. He had a bike wreck and has internal bleeding on his brain. We don't know a prognosis right now. All we know is that we are all hurting very deeply and need the support, love and prayers from our friends and family. I will update as I get information. Don't forget to tell your family and friends you love them because you never know what might happen in the blink of an eye.

That's what the nurse at the bike park said, since he was bleeding from inside and outside his head. Glad it turned out to be blood from the ear trauma only. Sorry to put a damper on your first night.

oh, my goodness. i will keep you guys in my prayers. that's horrible. he's in good hands. that's a great facility. let us know how everything is going if you guys can.

It is one of the finest. Thanks for the prayers.

Praying, praying, praying for Drew!

Please keep us posted if you can!

Prayers appreciated, and I think they did the job! :)

Oh my goodness....I am praying for Drew's quick, miraculous, and complete healing. Many, many hugs and prayers for your whole family.

I think that, except for the hearing loss, everything will be pretty much back to normal in time.

Just got a text from MeMom. It seems as though things are going to be better than expected. He broke his collarbone, all the bones in his right ear, and has a cut on his head. I am trying to get through to her or Trent to get more info but no luck so far. Thank you all for your prayers and concerns on his behalf!

From MeMom's phone, but Trent was doing the texting, of course.
My texting skills are not good.
Okay, they're horrible.
I'd still be on He's doing fi.. and Trent could have texted the entire Constitution.

I am praying and hoping for Drew's quick recovery.

So happy to hear that things are going better than expected.

Please keep us updated and know that we are all praying for Drew and your family.

They got much better very quickly. Thanks for your thoughts.

My prayers are with all of you and especially with Drew. I pray for a complete recovery and comfort with the pain. I pray for the doctors to do everything in thier power to help him. My heart breaks for you. I feel so sad for you Jill because you are away from your family. It must be so difficult. We are all here for you, I will be thinking of you today. :grouphug:

His head hurts, and his collarbone is killing him whenever he moves it. He has a sling to help keep it still. They said the way it was broken, there was really not much they could do. It'll just heal in time.

I am so sorry to hear this. I hope that Drew makes a quick recovery. I will be praying for all of you.

I believe he will. He had just mowed the yard two days ago, so I teased him and said he had to be healed by the time it had to be mowed again.

After the obligatory 'why-didn't-you-have-your-helmet-on-you-promised-me-you-always-wore-your-helmet' speech, I sat to watch the nurses do their thing. They took the blood pressure and kept him awake and responding. They wiped the blood and wrote on the charts and jiggled the IV bags. They told us which doctor was coming in next to do which test or x-ray. I told Trent that we had just been talking about nurses on the Disboards in the past two days. He was delighted to hear that I could somehow bring the Disboards into the conversation. ;)

MeMom, here's why we all love you so much. Amid all the scary things going on, you are able to make your typically acute observations about the people in the waiting room, find the time to give a loving lecture and bring up disboards! It is ironic that we were discussing nurses just yesterday. (unfortunately not a good ironic)

I'm SO glad to hear that the prognosis is much less scary than it started out to be! We may sometimes think it is wierd that friendships form over our computers but it's also pretty amazing that we have the technology to meet people who would probably be our friends if we weren't separated by distance.

Jill, I hope you have a great birthday, get a chance to take a deep breath and enjoy the moment of being in our favorite place with people you love

:flower3:

Thank the Lord that Drew's injuries were not life threatening and that with a little tlc and surgeries he can make a full recovery. So glad that he can recover at home with the care of his momma!

I am so glad that Drew is now home with you! I hope you managed to get some rest as well.

Happy Birthday, Jill! Enjoy Fantasmic! this evening!

Glad to hear that things are better than expected -- still praying for Drew and all of you!

Thanks for keeping us posted!

Prayers and hugs are being sent your way! Hope Drew continues to recover!

Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry for your family. Prayers go out to you and your family, doctors and nurses. :grouphug:

Thinking of all of you--abundant prayers are flowing your way!!! Please keep us as up-to-date as you can.

Thanks to all of you! You are so sweet to check in on him.

I talked to Trent late last night/early this morning. He said they were waiting on the neurosurgeon to come look at Drew's CT scan, but that some other doctor hadn't seen anything abnormal on it. They were also going to do a scan on his chest, abdomen, and pelvis just to make sure all was okay. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.

It was definitely hard being here when I wanted so badly to be there to do what I could. The Lord has kept him safe and everything seems to be not as bad as originally thought. We are headed to Downtown Disney this morning and then to Hollywood this afternoon and evening. I will check in again if I get a chance today. Have a good Sunday everyone!

Buy me something cool (and cheap)!

OMGoodness, I was checking in this morning and I heard about poor Drew. Many prayers for a quick recovery I am so glad it is not as bad as originally suspected.

Jill I hope you can continue trauma-free for the rest of your vacation and have a happy birthday too! Keep us posted! :goodvibes

Yes, please. Brooklynn falling down the stairs and Drew falling off a bike. Who's next to fall? Hopefully - NO ONE!

Poor baby. I hope he has a good recovery. Jill have a great time and I hope the rest of the trip is free from anymore accidents.

He needed your luck last night! :thumbsup2

Prayers being said for Drew! Hoping for a speedy recovery! Hugs to you all!

My thoughts and prayers are with your family today. What horrible news to have to deal with when you are away from your family. I will be thinking of everyone, Drew especially for a complete recovery.

Once again I reiterate how wonderful heath care professionals are. I pray he is in good hands.

I was so relieved to read the second prognosis and I am so glad to hear that things are doing better. I hope everything will continue to improve.

so glad everything is looking better than it was last night when you first got the news. i honestly thought about you guys all night. prayers really can work! :goodvibes

jill, i've been in a similar situation and i know how hard it is being away at a time like this. 5 years ago my little brother was hit by a car while pushing a dirt bike across the street. he was 17. it was labor day weekend and i was in savannah with my hubby and some friends and got a call at 7:00 one morning from my stepmom telling me what had happened. he pretty much busted up an entire leg (they had to rebuild it), fractured his spine and had a brain tear. it was so scary to hear that kind of thing over the phone and know that i wasn't there for him. but there's really nothing you can do by going home. i bet drew doesn't even realize you're not there because they have him on paid meds i'm sure. so try as best you can to have fun with brooklynn and john and know that you deserve it! ;) it sounds to me like he's got plenty of people around him that love him and i just pray his prognosis keeps getting better.

Adding my prayers for a speedy recovery.

Oh, I'm SO happy to hear that things are much better than expected. I hope the neurosurgeon has good news about the CT scan.

Jill, I hope you are able to still have fun and keep at least a little of your mind on Disney world! I know it must be SO hard to be away right now.

Thank you for keeping us updated. I'll keep the prayers coming.

Another big thank you to you all at once. I am about to fall asleep again. Sorry I lumped you all together, but I wanted to get everyone in.

Thanks MeMom for taking the time to update us on Drew's condition---I hope his recovery is swift and everything gets back to normal for you both!!!

Also Happy Birthday to Jill!!! I can't believe she gets to spend another week at WDW for her birthday--lucky brat!!!! ;o)

Happy Sunday to you all!!! Rest up! Jen

Aah, normal! Normal is good.

Yay; someone else knows Jill is a brat. She's a kind one, though. She was kind enough to call and let me walk by the lake with her this morning.

Glad to hear the prognosis is much better, I hope he heals well and he gets lots of rest. Your in my thoughts. :flower3:

Have a great week Jill and Brooklynn !!!

He has slept all day!

MeMom, you must have posted your update right before I posted my response cuz I missed it!

I'm SO happy that Drew is home safe with you. It sounds like he's in for some pain, but thank God he's okay.
What a scary time it must have been for everyone.

Hopefully, the pain will be a good reminder about the helmet.

Happy Birthday, Jill!!!!

She's got Fantasmic tonight, and I have been reading that they are not sending the final boat out on some nights now. The characters just appear on the mountain. There was a whole thread with people reporting their nights of boat/no boat. I hope they send it out for her night.

first off, i'm SO GLAD drew is at home and doing as well as can be expected. i heard "bleeding from the brain" and immediately thought the worst. i've been thinking about you guys all night. i actually dreamed that i woke up this morning and you had posted that he was okay, so i'm glad my dream came true!

:flower3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JILL!!!!! :flower3: i hope you have a magical day! you share a birthday with my stepdad, so you're in good company. ;) he's playing golf with my mom and some buddies in shelbyville right now, so you're both in your happy place.

Bleeding from the brain - not the words you ever want to hear.

You are wrong! That lady did not have germs! I'm pretty sure she scared them off! :scared1:

I won't say it was the one time he didn't wear it, but according to him and to his friends, I do think it is rare that he takes it off.

Your mom loves her golfing!!! We've got to get her to Disney World!

Oh MeMom, I just read everything that has happened to Drew. Your family are in my prayers. My churches prayer chain is praying for Drew too. Just wanted to let you know that many people are praying for Drew and you too as you take care of him. Prayers and hugs are going out to you from me.

We'll take those prayers. That's very nice of you!

Do please keep us updated on Drew's progress & don't stress over responding to all of us. We love you and know your feelings as well

THANKS! :flower3:

I love to make people laugh and cry. Mostly laugh! :)

He'll heal as fast as anyone can. He's had lots of wrecks, but this one has been the granddaddy of them all. Hopefully, the rest of them will be baby wrecks.

Happy Birthday to Matt, too, then. How come he's not in Disney World?

Congratulations on the win! There was much celebrating going on when we were trying to get to the hospital.

I'm so glad Drew is doing better. You guys will still be in my prayers.

Cathy

Thanks. Right now, I think the best prayers will be that he's going to retain some hearing in his right ear, because it is pretty serious loss, according to the ENT guy. He already had slight loss due to numerous ear infections when he was little that resulted in tubes in his ears. He's always been a bit hard of hearing, but this is going to be pretty significant, it looks like.

Thanks again, everyone, for all of your kind thoughts and PM's. You guys truly are friends to us.

MeMom, here's why we all love you so much. Jill, I hope you have a great birthday, get a chance to take a deep breath and enjoy the moment of being in our favorite place with people you love

:flower3:

Agreed!!! I'm still banking on a big old Magic Camel Dis Meet some day!

Thank the Lord that Drew's injuries were not life threatening and that with a little tlc and surgeries he can make a full recovery. So glad that he can recover at home with the care of his momma!

I've been rubbing his neck where he is so stiff and sore from all night in a neck brace. Trent has gone to the store to get him something to drink. We'll spoil him for a few days...and then put him back out in the field! ;)

I told him now he knows how those African women feel that put those big rings around their necks to make them real long!

He said he never wanted to be a long-necked African woman! :rotfl:

I am so glad that Drew is now home with you! I hope you managed to get some rest as well.

Happy Birthday, Jill! Enjoy Fantasmic! this evening!

If I can, since I am exactly at Fantasmic on our trip report, I'm going to put up our summer pictures tonight. That was my plan when I saw that the two coincided. I could have put them up yesterday, but I thought in honor of Jill's special day, I would put them up tonight. Hopefully, I'll get to that later, because at the end of Fantasmic, there's a little twist in the trip.

Or maybe there is a little trip in the trip.

Wait and see!

Glad to hear Drew is at home recovering! I'll continue prayers for him!

Happy Birthday Jill!!! party:

You are a good mommy to take care of Drew. Your jokes are too funny today. Its good to see you have kept a sence of humor threw all of this. Thank you for taking the time to keep us posted.
Enjoy Fantasmic Jill, hope you get to see the boat. :smickey:

Glad that Drew is starting to feel a little better. God is so good! Continued prayers for all of you.

Jill- I hope that you are having a fantastic birthday.

MeMom- I also wanted to say what an amazing woman you are. You are so strong and grounded. I am glad that we are "imaginary" friends and I think you are the greatest. Hope you are able to get some rest.

Oh, MeMom, I'm sorry about Drew.

Oh MeMom!!! I am so sorry!!! Poor Drew, I am glad he is doing better now though. I will be praying for you all!!!

And, Happy Birthday Jill!! I hope your having a wonderful, Disney filled birthday!

We left off with this happy little face.

(I needed to see her sweet little self this evening, so that's why I posted it again.)

If all goes according to plans, she is back there tonight.

Since I was at this point in the trip, I kind of wanted to save this post for this night so that we can all join Jill as she enjoys her Fantasmic birthday evening.

Who wouldn't want to be seeing this guy...

I always try to get the good waterscreen pictures, but they never come out doing justice to how cool they really look in person.

There was a thread on the Theme Parks Board that said they are not bringing out the boat at every show now. It is off and on. They didn't know if they're working on the boat, just doing it because of fuel prices, just testing out if they could get away without presenting the boat finale, or what.

I hope the boat wins out. The people who saw the show without the boat said it wasn't nearly as exciting just having the good guys appear on the mountain. I really hope tonight, for Jill, there is a boat.

LIVE UPDATE FROM JILL - They just got off Toy Story. All Fastpasses were gone, so they had to wait a long time, but she wanted to ride, so they did. They aren't in any big hurry for things on this trip. She said they were in line with some not so controlled kids who were climbing all over the railing and even got under the props and such. She was glad when they finally reached the ride. They are now headed to meet Kimberly and Dave and their four kids. John, Dave, and the oldest kids are going to ride Tower of Terror before they head to Fantasmic. Jill, Kimberly, and the little kids are going to shop while they wait. She said they spent a lot of time at DTD today and ate at Earl's. She said the potato and bacon soup was so good!

I warned her about the possibility of there being no boat. She said she was glad for the warning, in case it doesn't come out, so she will be prepared and not cry too much.

Anyway, just thought I'd give an update for anyone who wants to picture themselves in Hollywood Studios tonight!
