A table for 2.5 please! Disney dining with a baby! NEW-Animator's Palate / The End!

LOL that is a good thing if your highlights of food were basically your whole trip!! haha! Boardwalk bakery looks wonderful, as do the treats. Mmm Can't wait to hear about the cruise!

Still here, although you wouldn't know it...going to try to catch up with comments today. The girls are home from school (snow day #5 for the year), and I'm not going anywhere. :cold:

Edited to add: Oh my, the last thing I commented on was Raglan Road.

So after all that drama, we finally sat down to our food! Is it always like that at Yak & Yeti or did we just come upon a bad time!? :confused3

It was the same way when we were there on our first trip…and incredibly hot sitting in the blaring sun. Maybe they’ve fixed that, but now we always go to Flame Tree. No matter what.

Our desserts weren't quite so great.

I have yet to find a CS dessert that is really good. Even those little key lime pies leave a bit to be desired. Such a shame. My SIL always asks if she can substitute a piece of fruit or a bottle of water. Sometimes they will, and sometimes they won’t. Worth a shot, I guess! There are so many other wonderful things to eat at Disney World that I’d rather not waste my time eating stuff that isn’t delicious!

Conan and I both love 'Ohana... In fact, it's probably our favourite restaurant in Disney World! We've been there each time we've visited Disney, and there's something about it that just screams 'We're at Disney World!' to me.

Totally agree. And we didn’t even try to sneak in on your ADR that night! We did eat at Captain Cook’s at about that same time, though. I kept my eye out, but never saw you. Which is probably okay because I wouldn’t have wanted you to think we were stalking you. My dad ;) needed another Dole Whip.

Almost straight away, our 'Ohana Welcome Bread arrived...Fresh, warm and delicious! I had to remind myself not to each too much and fill up on just bread! Leo had a lovely time gnawing on some bread too.

DH had a lovely time gnawing on some Welcome Bread, too, after my Leap Day trip (and he wasn‘t even with me). Ziploc bags are a VERY handy item to carry in your park bag! :rolleyes1

Then came one of my favourite parts of the meal... the dumplings!

When I asked DD12 where she wanted to go for her recent birthday dinner, she said “‘Ohana…for those dumplings!” Unfortunately, the cost of airfare and lodging made it a little cost prohibitive to take her there!

And yes, he is wearing a Hawaiian shirt for the occasion!

He is already so good at matching his clothes to his dining establishments of choice! I’m impressed!

Prawns... (I mean, shrimp!)

:rotfl2:

'Ohana bread pudding served a la mode with Bananas and Caramel Sauce. It definitely rivals the bread pudding at Raglan Road... But just falls short, I think.

Agreed, and we are major players in the world of bread pudding judgment! :lmao:

We won't be rushing back to Pizza Planet for lunch again. Next time I'll have to do some better research about where to eat at Hollywood Studios!

Sadly, it seems there just aren’t any great CS places at DHS. Although I did have a really good couscous, quinoa, and arugula salad at ABC Commissary last trip.

Cheese popcorn is very hard to find in Australia, and I just love it!
And of course, it was just as cheesy and delicious as always.

All you need to do is say the world and I’ll be happy to mail you some! popcorn::

I also popped into Karamell Kuche in Germany to buy some treats for later. I'd never been here before and was dying to try some of the delicious looking caramel treats I'd seen here on the DIS Boards.

I had been really looking forward to checking it out, too, and I don’t even like caramel! But it wasn’t to be. D14 couldn’t go in there due to her peanut allergy, so all I got to do is sit across the promenade and smell. DH did go in and get a dark chocolate salted caramel and DD12 got the caramel corn. They were both very happy.

And for myself, I bought the Chocolate Caramel Pineapple...This was SO good! By now I'm sure it's pretty clear that I love pineapple anything, but the sweetness of the milk chocolate and caramel, combined with the juicy pineapple was just perfect! I would add this to one of my favourite WDW treats, as well as Dole Whips and cheese popcorn!

Wow, you must have really loved it to be on the same list as Dole Whip and cheese popcorn! I need to get one of those without the caramel sometime. Maybe I’ll make my own! :scratchin

Conan headed downstairs to grab some take away Beaches & Cream, and brought it back up for us!

That is a mighty fine man you‘ve got there! ::yes::

My Frozen Sunshine was just as amazing as when I had it the first night. Orangey, creamy goodness! And this time I got to enjoy it in my pj's on the couch! What could be better than that!?

If I were there with you? Just kidding. I’m definitely going to try one of those next time. I’m putting it on my list right now!

It's just me again! :wave2:

The Cloudberry Horn! It tasted a bit stale, actually. The cream was nice enough but overall, I was a bit disappointed.

Do you remember if it was in the refrigerated case or not? I’ve never had one, but I can’t stand it when flaky pastry like that is refrigerated…makes it kind of tough and old-tasting.

Anyway, the banana was fabulous. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2:

My favourite dishes were the curry pasta, sundried tomato dip and flatbread and of course the zebra domes for dessert!

Right on, sister! I remember talking about Boma after our trips way back in January of 2009 and how much we both loved the dips and flatbreads! And zebra domes…don’t even get me started.

Seriously. That is So. Freaking. Adorable!

Anyway, back to Crystal Palace. We were seated straight away and noticed most people were actually finishing their breakfasts and starting to leave. There were lots of empty tables around us and it only got more empty as our breakfast continued, which was quite lovely because it felt like we had our own private little section!

What time was this? It sounds fantastic!

Scrambled eggs, bacon, pancake, chocolate croissant and puffed French toast! Hurrah! How good is that French toast!? So sugary and delicious!! The perfect way to start a Disney day.

That puffed French toast was DD14’s first food priority on our last trip. So good. But I don’t see the breakfast lasagna on your plates! That is just the greatest way to end your meal. We’re getting to a point where most characters aren’t the priority anymore, but we’ll certainly be going there for breakfast again regardless.

What a fun breakfast we had!

Thanks for sharing it with us. I loved all the pics of Leo enjoying his time with Pooh and the gang! :goodvibes

I'd definitely recommend this late ADR time. There were no lines at the buffet and plenty of space around the tables. We had lots of time with the characters and it all felt very relaxed and laid back. Leo had a lovely time with all the characters!

I think you’re right. We’ve always done pre-rope drop ADRs (Crystal Palace, Tusker House) to get the empty park pics, but next time we’re going to do what you did. We’ll still be there for opening, enjoy attractions with no wait while people are still entering the park, and then eat at around 10-10:30 depending on what time they switch the buffet from breakfast to lunch. I need my breakfast food! We got slow starts in the park this time because, even though we had very early ADRs, we didn’t get out of the restaurants until the park was already open for awhile. Tusker House was super behind for some reason and Crystal Palace had a fire in the kitchen! :headache:

"What?!" I hear you exclaim. "Signature dining with a baby!? You're mad!"

I would have offered to babysit, but we were gone by this point. Next time!

Leo all dressed up in his fancy shirt for the evening.

Leo does it again! :groom:

He was just really lovely and it highlighted the difference between the servers at regular dining and signature dining.

Interesting insight. I’ve never thought about it…probably because we’ve never been to a signature restaurant, but it certainly makes sense.

As my entree, I chose the 8-oz Center Cut Filet Mignon with Mashed Potatoes, and Cabernet Wine Sauce.

Were those the vegetables they served with it or was that just a garnish? And those garlic onion rolls (or whatever they were) looked fantastic!

The Yachtsman Sundae - A trio of gelato with strawberry and a vanilla pineapple sauce.

DH would be all over that!

After being worried to even take Leo, it turned out to be far and away the best meal we had during our whole trip. The service was just incredible and they all made us (and especially Leo) feel so welcome. And of course, the food was delicious!!

That was a great review of Yachtsman.

We took our food back to our villa to eat, because we couldn't find any empty tables around. Such a lovely walk over the bridge to the Boardwalk and back!

I’m so glad we took the time to explore that area more. I had only been around there in the dark before with DH. This time, we took the boat from DHS to Epcot and back and got to see how close all of those resorts really are to each other. Very convenient. And the Swan and Dolphin simply took my breath away!

He quite liked it but said the biscuit (which we would normally call a scone!) was a bit doughy.

So do you have what we call scones? What do you call them? :teacher:

Inside the bread bowl was a potato casserole type thing - I'm sure it had pieces of onion, spinach and other yummy bits and pieces in there too - topped with eggs and bacon on the side.

Seriously, YUM! Makes my oatmeal of the morning seem rather bland in comparison!

Some highlights off the top of my head...

* Our whole evening at Yachtsman Steakhouse!
* Dole whips, dole whips and dole whips!
* Finally trying corn dog nuggets.
* Meeting the very lovely TrixieQuilts and sharing a great meal with her at Raglan Road.
* Frozen Sunshine from Beaches & Cream.
* Eating breakfast with Pooh and the gang at Crystal Palace.
* All our old favourite restaurants that remain as good as ever... Ohana, Boma and Raglan Road.

Aww, I’m honored to be included in your highlights! The three of you were certainly a highlight of my trip as well. I’m so glad you had such a wonderful time at the World. It just goes to show that people in any situation can have a great time there! You were pretty much commando before Leo and this time you got to take things more slowly. (Leo certainly seemed to enjoy himself! Good job mom and dad!) And believe it or not, some people can even have a great time without going into the parks! :rolleyes1 I’m really looking forward to hearing about the next part of your trip. Bring on the food of The Dream (because I‘m in no hurry to take a cruise, no matter what Conan says)! :scared:

I think I'm finally caught up!

Your BW Bakery choices looked really good - especially the egg/potato in a bread bowl. YUM!

I'm excited to read about your Dream dining. I am currently reporting on the Fantasy dining - it will be interesting to see how they compare. :woohoo:

I love the Bakery! It's so nice now that they've expanded it! It used to be so tiny!

Can't wait to hear about the Dream!

Jill in CO

The Bakery was great! I had no idea they'd expanded it... It still seemed pretty teeny to me! Must have been really teeny beforehand! :goodvibes

Loved your report! Will be waiting for the Dream report!

Thanks so much! The Dream report will be up soon!

I've been following along-Are you going to put your cruise reviews on this board or the Cruise board?

You should put more pictures of baby Leo-he's too cute!

Thanks for reading! I'll just keep posting here on this thread with my Dream reviews... May as well, since I already have it going. There will be plenty more Leo pictures in coming posts as well! :thumbsup2

Love your reviews, and I have to say, Leo is incredibly adorable!!!

Aw, thanks so much! Glad you've enjoyed the reviews! :)

Mmmmm, I wish I could try that Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake right now!

Looking forward to hearing about your cruise. We haven't been on a Disney Cruise, but really hope to in the next few years.

Yum, wouldn't that Peanut Butter Cake be great right now!? I'll be posting the cruise reviews soon. Thanks again for reading! :woohoo:

The Bakery breakfast and sweet treats look great. I have only popped in there for a look, but have never tried anything there. I need to add it to my must try bucket list though. Hope the cruise was wonderful :)

The Bakery is definitely worth the visit - for breakfast, lunch or a little sweet treat! They were all great and a nice alternative to the Marketplace, especially. :yay:

really enjoyed reading this review! Looking forward to seeing your posts from the Disney Dream.

Your son is a cutie too!!

Thanks so much for reading! Glad you enjoyed them. Disney Dream reviews coming up soon! :cheer2:

LOL that is a good thing if your highlights of food were basically your whole trip!! haha! Boardwalk bakery looks wonderful, as do the treats. Mmm Can't wait to hear about the cruise!

Ha, that's true! There were plenty of highlights! Thank you for reading along and sharing your thoughts, too! Cruise reviews coming up soon! :)

Still here, although you wouldn't know it...going to try to catch up with comments today. The girls are home from school (snow day #5 for the year), and I'm not going anywhere. :cold:

Edited to add: Oh my, the last thing I commented on was Raglan Road.

Helloooooo Trixie! Brr, snow days. Hope you're managing to stay warm and cosy inside! It's been BOILING hot here... Want to swap for a day!? Only a day though... I wouldn't know what to do in snow!

Anyway, you're amazing for catching up with all my rambles! I'll get to your replies in a second. popcorn::

Great updates!

Can't wait to read about your time on the Dream :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed them! :)

Your BW Bakery choices looked really good - especially the egg/potato in a bread bowl. YUM!

I'm excited to read about your Dream dining. I am currently reporting on the Fantasy dining - it will be interesting to see how they compare. :woohoo:

Ooh, I didn't know you were reporting about the Fantasy - I'll have to go and check your reviews out! :goodvibes

That bread bowl really was good! Thanks so much for continuing to read along... More reviews coming up soon! :cool1:

It was the same way when we were there on our first trip…and incredibly hot sitting in the blaring sun. Maybe they’ve fixed that, but now we always go to Flame Tree. No matter what.

Augh! We couldn't go to Flame Tree because of the birds! Apparently there's lots of birds that hang around there and steal people's food... Just the thought of it terrified me so Yak & Yeti it was! Pfft!

That's a really good idea by your SIL. I'll remember that next time! And yes, I agree about the CS desserts. You wouldn't think it would be that tricky to make a delicious little cupcake or something for dessert! What about Wolfgang Puck Express? Aren't they good?

Totally agree. And we didn’t even try to sneak in on your ADR that night! We did eat at Captain Cook’s at about that same time, though. I kept my eye out, but never saw you. Which is probably okay because I wouldn’t have wanted you to think we were stalking you. My dad needed another Dole Whip.

Oh, I didn't know you were at Captain Cook's! We should have met up for a Dole Whip! Although we usually tried to speed through dinners because Leo got tired and cranky easily. Bwhaa, your dad and those Dole Whips! ;)

DH had a lovely time gnawing on some Welcome Bread, too, after my Leap Day trip (and he wasn‘t even with me). Ziploc bags are a VERY handy item to carry in your park bag!

That's hilarious! Welcome bread thief! :rotfl:

When I asked DD12 where she wanted to go for her recent birthday dinner, she said “‘Ohana…for those dumplings!” Unfortunately, the cost of airfare and lodging made it a little cost prohibitive to take her there!

Hehee, go DD12! At least she has good taste! (On another note, I can't believe she's 12 already! No way!)

He is already so good at matching his clothes to his dining establishments of choice! I’m impressed!

Isn't he!? He actually loves clothes of all sorts, and will often choose the laundry basket to play with over his toys. Yay, fresh clothes to throw around and suck on! :goodvibes

Agreed, and we are major players in the world of bread pudding judgment! :lmao:

We so are! We should be bread pudding judges.

Sadly, it seems there just aren’t any great CS places at DHS. Although I did have a really good couscous, quinoa, and arugula salad at ABC Commissary last trip.

That sounds... interesting! Hehee. Don't get me started on quinoa. :rolleyes1 But yes, DHS seems to be lacking in good CS places! Hopefully next time Leo will be old enough to enjoy Sci-Fi instead.

All you need to do is say the world and I’ll be happy to mail you some! popcorn::

Aw, you're too sweet. Thank you! I think I've had my fill of it for now, but maybe in a year or so! popcorn::

I had been really looking forward to checking it out, too, and I don’t even like caramel! But it wasn’t to be. D14 couldn’t go in there due to her peanut allergy, so all I got to do is sit across the promenade and smell. DH did go in and get a dark chocolate salted caramel and DD12 got the caramel corn. They were both very happy.

I didn't know she was allergic to peanuts, did I!? Wow. The smell was definitely one of the best parts... And yes, you could definitely make your own pineapple thingy - just dip it in some melted chocolate and voila! :hyper:

That is a mighty fine man you‘ve got there! ::yes::

He's lovely! :lovestruc

Do you remember if it was in the refrigerated case or not? I’ve never had one, but I can’t stand it when flaky pastry like that is refrigerated…makes it kind of tough and old-tasting.

Hmm, yes maybe the horn pastry thingy was in the refrigerated section, now that you mention it. That's definitely what it tasted like! Disappointing!

Right on, sister! I remember talking about Boma after our trips way back in January of 2009 and how much we both loved the dips and flatbreads! And zebra domes…don’t even get me started.

Yes, we love Boma! It's always so delicious. Right up there with Ohana in terms of consistency and Disney fun vibe, I reckon. :thumbsup2

What time was this? It sounds fantastic!

Our Crystal Palace ADR was 10.20am. Maybe 10.30 is the last breakfast ADR time!? I'm not sure, but it was great!

Oh no... Neither of us had the breakfast lasagna! Sorry! I don't like my food being all mixed together like that. I hardly even want my food from the buffet to be touching on the plate! :lmao: Weird, I know!

Thanks for sharing it with us. I loved all the pics of Leo enjoying his time with Pooh and the gang! :goodvibes

Aw, you're very welcome! It was such a fun morning. :)

I think you’re right. We’ve always done pre-rope drop ADRs (Crystal Palace, Tusker House) to get the empty park pics, but next time we’re going to do what you did. Tusker House was super behind for some reason and Crystal Palace had a fire in the kitchen! :headache:

You should totally try that then! It worked really well for us too, because we just had a quiet morning and let Leo sleep in a bit. A nice little mid-morning break for breakfast (or brunch!) would be perfect.

I would have offered to babysit, but we were gone by this point. Next time!

I'll remember that offer! ;)

Were those the vegetables they served with it or was that just a garnish? And those garlic onion rolls (or whatever they were) looked fantastic!

Ooh, I can't remember which picture you were referring to, but I think our mains at YS? They both just came with mashed potatoes... If you wanted anything else on the side, you had to order it separately.

I’m so glad we took the time to explore that area more. I had only been around there in the dark before with DH. This time, we took the boat from DHS to Epcot and back and got to see how close all of those resorts really are to each other. Very convenient. And the Swan and Dolphin simply took my breath away!

It's such a lovely area! We'd never really explored that area much either, but the Beach Club is definitely now my favourite of the Disney hotels we've stayed in. I just love the summery, laid-back vibe!

So do you have what we call scones? What do you call them? :teacher:

I had to google that! Your scones are much sweeter, apparently. We don't really have anything like them, no. Our biscuits are what you would call cookies, then we have scones which are kind of like your scones! Heee, so confusing. :headache:

Aww, I’m honored to be included in your highlights! The three of you were certainly a highlight of my trip as well. I’m so glad you had such a wonderful time at the World. It just goes to show that people in any situation can have a great time there! You were pretty much commando before Leo and this time you got to take things more slowly. Yes, we definitely all had a fantastic, fun time! It was very different to our regular style of holiday, that's for sure... But that's okay, because we've done it that way twice! And this time we got to share it all with our beautiful little baby boy, and that's so much more exciting. :)

I think I'm finally caught up!

Thank you so much for reading and replying! You're amazing! :worship:

Thank you for your dining report.

1)Your little prince is so cute! I LOVE the shoes he was wearing in the picture with Donald :cool2:

2) My husband has to eat at Pizza Planet each and every time we are at Hollywood Studios. I am not crazy about it--but hey, he brings me to Disney so I am not going to complain about one meal.

3)The orange drink from Beaches and Cream looks FANTASTIC!! I may have to sneak over there in June.

I am looking forward to reading the cruise portion of your report. :upsidedow

Thanks so much, Rosco! Glad you're enjoying my report! I love Leo's little shoes too. He wore them nearly every day when we were in the USA - they're so soft and comfy! They're made from Oobi, and are called "Shoobies" - so cute! :)

Gah, I'd put up with Pizza Planet every trip too, if it meant a trip to Disney World! I'm with you on that one. Hehee. And yes, you'll have to try the Orange Sunshine next time! Delicious! :thumbsup2

Apologies for being a bit slow to get the cruise reviews up and going, everybody! It's been a busy couple of weeks and Leo's first molars are coming through, which means lots of extra cuddles are needed of course. But I'll definitely be popping back soon to write those cruise reviews!

So when I last left off, we were on our way to the Disney Dream!!

We had been on one cruise before - an NCL cruise around Hawaii during our honeymoon - but never a Disney cruise, and of course, never with a baby! We were so excited! It was a 3 night Bahamas cruise. We wanted to do a longer one but that was the only cruise that fit in with our dates.

The first day on the cruise was... frazzling. There's no other word for it, really!

Our Disney bus arrived at Port Canaveral at around 1.30ish and we had to wait for about an hour to check in and board, by which time Leo was very grizzly and needed a feed and a nap. I'm trying to remember exactly what happened but honestly, the whole day is a blur of getting to our room, requesting a crib for Leo (which wasn't there although we requested it), finally getting Leo to nap, waking Leo from his nap because we had to go to the mandatory safety check, Leo falling asleep again just as our dinner sitting was meant to start... It was all a mess, really.

Needless to say, there are no photos of food from the first day! I honestly can't even remember what we ate. I think we skipped lunch altogether and we missed our dinner seating due to Leo's napping being totally out of whack. I think we ended up eating chicken fingers and burgers on the pool deck. Not a glamorous start to our cruise, but never mind!

I don't want to say too much here because I know lots of people love their Disney cruises, but I will just say... In general, things felt really hectic on our cruise. People seemed to be in a rush all the time and were quite pushy and rude. The staff who worked there were all lovely, but the guests seemed to be in such a hurry to have fun all the time, that they didn't mind who they knocked out of the way in the process. We were a bit taken aback, to be honest. There were kids constantly running up and down the hallways and yelling, there were big kids playing and running around in the baby / toddler play area (so much so, that little Leo burst into tears as soon as we went in there - it was just too loud and busy for him), there were huge queues for the elevators (we had no choice but to use them since we had Leo in his stroller, but often we would wait patiently while others behind us literally pushed their way through to get on before us)... It was all just a bit manic, and totally unexpected. I guess I expected it to run as smoothly as Disney World does, but nope!

Maybe it was because our cruise was only for 3 nights. People wanted to do as much as they could in the short amount of time on board, which I understand. But still... Sometimes an "Excuse me" or "Sorry" is nice!

Nevertheless, we still had a lovely time on our cruise. The actual ship was amazing and our room was fantastic too. There were lots of fun things to do and of course, the food was delicious!

Our second day on board was much better than our first. We docked in Nassau, but we decided not to get off and instead explore the ship, swim and generally just have a nice relaxing day. (I also had a stone massage that afternoon which was heavenly! :cloud9:)

So let's get on with the food reviews! ::yes::

For breakfast we headed to Enchanted Garden, which has a buffet style breakfast.

The restaurant is beautiful! We were meant to eat there the night before, but of course, missed out. The lighting was dim and it really did feel like we were eating in a garden, despite being on a huge ship!

I loved the big booths!

The actual food was pretty good, but nothing too amazing. Our plates were both very similar...

Blueberry pancakes, potato wedges, a sweet pastry, scrambled eggs, bacon and the best part up the top of the plate... These fabulous little pastry things with a spicy tomato and chorizo filling in the centre, with a hollandaise-like sauce on top. They were definitely our favourite part of our breakfast! :hyper:

Here's Leo having chats with his Daddy...

See how quiet the restaurant was!? I think everybody else went to Cabanas, the huge buffet restaurant which is open for breakfast and lunch. It's more casual and clearly they were all in a rush to grab some food and get off the ship! We enjoyed our leisurely breakfast at Enchanted Garden though.

Here we are later that morning, all ready for a swim! (Except we didn't because Leo hated it! Eek!)

We were really looking forward to trying the AquaDuck (the huge waterslide behind us) but couldn't do that either because apparently it was too windy. Sadly we never got to ride it... There was either a one hour wait, or it was closed due to inclement weather. :confused3

For lunch that day we went to Cabanas, the casual buffet restaurant...

This place was absolutely HUGE and had every style of food you could imagine! There were separate stations for pizza, seafood, carvery, pasta, pancakes, chicken, Asian stirfries, salads, fruit, condiments, desserts... The list goes on!

Here's my plate...

Crispy coconut prawns (YUM!!), roast chicken, a couple of beans (apparently I didn't feel like vegetables that day!), baked zucchini, mango salad, teriyaki beef and rice. Ooh, and some bread.

It was all great, but the coconut prawns were definitely my favourite! :thumbsup2

This is Conan's plate...

Teriyaki beef, salad, roast beef & gravy, bread and coconut prawns. He enjoyed his meal too!

Here's our view of Nassau and some other cruise ships as we sat at our table...

And check out the dessert section! :worship:

Everything looked great but I chose...

On the left was a white chocolate & milk chocolate mousse, and on the right is carrot cake. Both were pretty good, but a little bit bland. Not as delicious as they looked!

Conan also had the mousse, as well as a strawberry tart...

Again, quite nice but nothing to rave about!

But look, Conan was really getting into the spirit of taking photos of his food now! Close-ups!! :goodvibes

I'll leave it there for now... Next up, a very special "grown ups only" dinner at Palo! :thumbsup2

Sorry your first day was so crazy! The longer cruises are much more relaxed.

Hot stone massage sounds wonderful!

That strawberry tart looks so good. I am tying talk my husband into going on a cruise. Maybe I should show him some food pics!!

Too bad it was such a rough start to the cruise and that it was crazy in general. Pictures are still pretty, though! Looking forward to hearing about Palo.

Your day on the cruise ship sounds like it was a great decision to just enjoy the time there. That is too bad to hear about how rude so many of the other passengers were. I hope overall you had a wonderful time though and I look forward to reading about your evening!

That is crazy about the boarding day - too bad it didn't go more smoothly - nap times trump most things! :thumbsup2

Yay, you have started on your cruise reviews :)
Shame that your first day was a little stressed and hectic. Looks like you settled into a more relaxing time the next day though
Great photos from Cabanas - we love that place!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Paolo

Can't wait for the Palo review. We went to Palo on the Fantasy and loved it!

Oh, I am feeling so bad about your less-than-great DCL experience. I think it must be the difference between the 7-night and the short cruises. We have cruised with DCL twice now (both 7-night trips), and we have never felt like what you experienced. I hope that you will try a 7-night cruise - I think you will have a much better time. Oh, and a little tip - room service when you first board! ;)

Sorry your first day was so crazy! The longer cruises are much more relaxed.

Ooh, yes I heard the longer cruises are more relaxing. It makes sense, really. More time to settle in and find your feet, and of course more time to relax! The stone massage was loooovely. :thumbsup2

That strawberry tart looks so good. I am tying talk my husband into going on a cruise. Maybe I should show him some food pics!!

Hehee, food pics will definitely help to convince him! It always helps with my husband, for sure! That being said, the strawberry tart looked prettier than it tasted. ;)

Too bad it was such a rough start to the cruise and that it was crazy in general. Pictures are still pretty, though! Looking forward to hearing about Palo.

You're so right - it was all very pretty on the cruise! The actual ship was beautiful and the staff were wonderful. It was really just the guests who were a bit frantic! Palo is coming up next! :cheer2:

Your day on the cruise ship sounds like it was a great decision to just enjoy the time there. That is too bad to hear about how rude so many of the other passengers were. I hope overall you had a wonderful time though and I look forward to reading about your evening!

That is crazy about the boarding day - too bad it didn't go more smoothly - nap times trump most things! :thumbsup2

Nap times definitely trump most things - except for compulsory safety meetings! Augh! I seriously wondered what would happen if Leo and I just didn't go, but we thought we'd better not risk it, hehee.

We still had fun on the cruise, but it just wasn't as relaxing as we'd hoped. As other people have said though, the longer cruises sound much more relaxing. Next time, maybe! :beach:

Yay, you have started on your cruise reviews :)
Shame that your first day was a little stressed and hectic. Looks like you settled into a more relaxing time the next day though
Great photos from Cabanas - we love that place!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Paolo

Thanks Linda... Things definitely started to settle down a bit by day 2, and even moreso on day 3. There was always a bit of a hectic vibe to the ship in general though, but we'd found our feet more by then and had learnt how to deal with the frantic crowds! Palo is coming up next! :)

Can't wait for the Palo review. We went to Palo on the Fantasy and loved it!

Oh good, I'm glad you enjoyed Palo! My review is coming up soon... :goodvibes

Oh, and a little tip - room service when you first board! ;)

Aw, you don't need to feel bad about our cruise experience! We still had a fun time, it just wasn't quite as relaxing as we'd hoped. The longer cruises definitely sound like the way to go. I wish we could have fit that into our schedule but it just didn't work with our flights back home.

Room service was actually interesting... There was hardly anything on the menu! :confused3 I did call them and ask if they had more on the menu and they said no. Not even ice-cream! I was a bit baffled because I'd heard a lot about the great room service! We definitely ate well after our first day though, so it was okay. :)

I'll be back with Palo soon! :cheer2:

I just found this thread last night. How exciting! Love all your pictures, and your son is a doll! I always wondered if doing Disney would be possible when we have a baby of our own. You definitely proved that you can! Also excited to see your cruise photos:)
