A table for 2.5 please! Disney dining with a baby! NEW-Animator's Palate / The End!

Hi, AussieAngel! Another chargrilled Aussie here. I've been catching up with DIS after our Summer break and found and loved your reviews. You're making me hungry, though. No matter the heat outside, I have a strange craving for corn dog nuggets and a trip to Yachtsman's!. ;)

Thank you for the reviews and your gorgeous pics.

Sounds like a great time at Yachtsman. Who knew it was the perfect venue for a baby? :rotfl: Looks like a great meal. It's one of those places we've talked about wanting to go to, but have never made it to. Looks like we need to keep it on the list! :thumbsup2 Glad it was such a good experience for you!

Your dinner at Yachtsman couldn't have been any better!! How wonderful. I'm so glad Leo was great, the food was fantastic and the servers were sweet too! Signature dining at Disney is totally doable with a baby, toddler, kid, etc. I love how they do generally make a "family" section too, makes me feel better vs sticking a young couple next to us.

Great reviews :goodvibes
I'm so far behind on my DIS time but have just spent a lovely evening reading through your reviews
You son is such a cutie!

Yachtman's Steakhouse looks delicious! I have been craving steak lately, which is odd for me, but i'm pretty much drooling as I read your review!

Leo is so cute. I love how he received so much love from the servers!

We haven't really considered Yachtman's for our next trip because it's a bit expensive and we don't do the DDP but i'm seriously considering saving up some extra cash for it. There's just too many places I want to eat at in Disney - I would need a month long vacation to try them all :rotfl:

What a great experience at the YSH!! Everything looks and sounds amazing. And what a great server you had. Perfection!

Great reviews!! We also love the food at Yachtsman-- but you definitely had far superior service. It's so nice how welcome they made you feel!!

I am really loving your reviews!! We went to Disney with our twin girls when they were 14 months, so I can relate! But I'm truly enjoying this report and can't wait to see more!!

YM is one of our all time favorites and I agree those rolls are amazing. We just booked our trip for the December and our baby will be 5 months old at the time and we will be dining at a few signature restaurants as well.

Wow, how fun! 5 months will be a nice age to take a baby... They're not teeny tiny but hopefully still young enough to nap while you eat! Aren't those Yachtsman rolls just the best!? Thanks for reading! :)

Oh my, I could not cope with that heat! Being Brits we found really hot on our December trip - 28c!

Sad this is nearly finished. I've really enjoyed your report.

Hehee, 28C is my perfect temperature! Not too hot, not too cold. 44C is just crazy - we were pretty much housebound all week. I'm so glad you've enjoyed my report so far, thanks! :thumbsup2

ooh those pics of Yachtsman reminded me of how much we loved it last trip. Glad to see your little man got looked after so well. He looks so smart! :goodvibes:

Leo had a lovely time at Yachtsman! I'm glad you enjoyed it too! It doesn't seem to be as popular as Le Cellier or some other signature restaurants but we've always loved it too!

Wonderful reviews! I am sorry I didn't catch them while you were doing them!

I think I followed another report of yours before!

Leo is a cutie! I can see why the servers just want to cuddle with him!

He did so good with the characters too!

I had that Pie in the Sky just last month! It was delicious! and VERY filling. So filling I didn't have room for dessert :(

'Ohana has always been a place I didn't book because my husband doesn't traditionally like those types of places but then last week he mentioned going so I have it booked for the last of April!
I can't wait to try that bread pudding!

We were also there during F&W. I think we missed half the booths I wanted to try because we were full all the time!

Hey there and welcome! I think you might have followed one of my trip reports before too! :thumbsup2 I'm glad you're enjoying reading along - thank you for reading!

Leo was a great age when we took him - not old enough to be scared of the characters yet, I don't think! Oh no, that's a shame you didn't have room for dessert at Raglan Road - the bread pudding is the best! Exciting that you're off to Ohana though! April will come around so quickly!

Bwahaa, yes we had the same problem at the F&W Festival! Too many delicious dishes to try and not enough room in our tummies! :lmao:

The Yachtsman looks wonderful! I wish I had room in our schedule to book it, but my hubby wants to eat at Artist Point for our date night! My Mother in law is coming with us, so she can watch the kiddos! yeah!

I'm not sure if I'll do a report or not...this will be our 2nd trip to DW. I've never thought about doing it, but now you've got me thinking... I LOVE reading other people's reports, just not sure anyone would want to read mine.

Take care!

Ooh, I've always wanted to try Artist Point - especially the mushroom soup! How lovely that your mother in law will be there so you can have a romantic night out! :goodvibes

Aw, well if you decide to do a dining report, I'll definitely read it! It's lots of fun taking photos of our food and sharing it here!

One of my friends is currently in Melbourne (She is Australian but mainly lives here) and yesterday apparently she spent the whole day in the pool only getting out to eat as it's so hot :rotfl:

Your meal sounds lovely and it sounds as though Leo was a perfect baby :)

Ha! Sounds like your friend managed the heat quite nicely! It's cooled down now, luckily. Leo and I mostly spent the days playing inside in the air-conditioning and eating watermelon. :)

Great reviews! Thanks

Thanks for reading along! :goodvibes

Hi fellow Aussie! :wave2: So glad you're enjoying my reviews! Thank you for reading! Hope you're surviving the heat okay... Corn dog nuggets would be lovely right now, wouldn't they!?

Ooh, yes you definitely should eat at Yachtsman Steakhouse next time you go! For some reason it's never been as popular as other signature restaurants, but we just love it. And as you said, the perfect venue for a baby! Ha! :goodvibes

We really did have a lovely night at the Yachtsman! I don't really know what I was so worried about, in retrospect. As our server said, it's Disney World! Of course there are children and babies everywhere! And you're right, the family section was a great idea. :thumbsup2

Great reviews :goodvibes

Aw, thanks so much! Glad you've enjoyed my reviews so far! Just a couple more to go now...

All the food was delicious at Yachtsman's! I'm the same - I'm not a big meat eater at all but that steak was so good! Isn't that always the trouble at WDW... Too many restaurants and amazing food to try! If you were going to try a signature restaurant though, I'd go with Yachtsman's Steakhouse. :thumbsup2

What a great experience at the YSH!! Everything looks and sounds amazing. And what a great server you had. Perfection!

Yes! We really did have a great night! We got lucky with our server, I'm sure. :woohoo:

Great reviews!! We also love the food at Yachtsman-- but you definitely had far superior service. It's so nice how welcome they made you feel!!

Yes, our server was so lovely! Especially with little Leo, they did a really great job of making us feel special and comfortable! :)

Great review. Leo is absolutely adorable.

Aw, thank you! Thanks for reading!

Great review...I'm joining along!

Thanks for sharing!!!

Yay, welcome! Thanks so much for reading! :yay:

I am really loving your reviews!! We went to Disney with our twin girls when they were 14 months, so I can relate! But I'm truly enjoying this report and can't wait to see more!!

Thank you! I'm so glad you're enjoying reading. Wow, twin girls at Disney must have been fun and challenging! Go you! :worship: More coming up soon!

Well, the day had finally arrived... Leaving day.

Boooooo... Because we had to leave Disney World.

But also, yay! Because we were going on the Disney Dream cruise! And of course, we'd had a fun, happy family holiday in Disney World! :goodvibes

So we were being picked up by the Disney cruise bus at around 12pm, and although checkout was officially 10am, a lovely lady at the reception desk told us we could stay in the room for as long as we needed to, because they couldn't actually kick us out! :lmao:

That worked out well for us, because we ate breakfast and then Leo had his morning nap in our villa before we left. Perfect!

Back to breakfast first... We had one last counter service credit to use from our dining plan and didn't want to eat at the Marketplace again (:crazy2:), so we walked over to the Boardwalk and picked up some breakfast from the Boardwalk Bakery.

There was quite a long line but it moved pretty quickly, and gave us a chance to peruse the menu and the delicious looking treats in the glass display cabinet, too! We took our food back to our villa to eat, because we couldn't find any empty tables around. Such a lovely walk over the bridge to the Boardwalk and back!

Anyway, Conan chose the Buttermilk Biscuit Egg Sandwich with fruit and bacon...

He quite liked it but said the biscuit (which we would normally call a scone!) was a bit doughy. Still better than those wholegrain "croissants" from the Marketplace though, hehee!

I ordered the Bread Bowl with scrambled eggs, potatoes and fruit, with bacon...

This was fantastic! Inside the bread bowl was a potato casserole type thing - I'm sure it had pieces of onion, spinach and other yummy bits and pieces in there too - topped with eggs and bacon on the side. I didn't eat all of the bread bowl as it was actually pretty big, but I really enjoyed it! :thumbsup2

We also decided to buy a dessert each too, to eat later that morning before the bus picked us up. I chose an apple tart...

Which was just okay, really. It was quite dry and I was disappointed, because sometimes there's nothing nicer than a fresh apple tart!

Conan decided to be a little piggy and order two things... A peanut butter chocolate cake and the Mickey Mouse head!

(I can't remember exactly what they were called... "Mickey Mouse head" sounds a bit wrong! :lmao:)

He loved both of these, but I think his favourite was the peanut butter chocolate cake. I had a little taste and it was SO rich, but delicious! We'd seen something that looked almost exactly the same on the menu of the Yachtsman Steakhouse the night before... I wonder if it really was the same dessert, with a bit of ice-cream on the side!? :confused3

Anyway, these were great snacks to finish off our stay at Disney World, and a great breakfast at the Boardwalk Bakery. If we were to stay at the Beach Club again, we'd definitely head there rather than the Marketplace!

Ooh, and I also grabbed a couple of these for the bus trip, because we'd been at Disney for 8 nights and hadn't eaten one yet! Craziness! :scared1:

So there you have it... 8 days of fantastic food, drinks and fun at Disney World! We'd had so many great dining experiences together - and some not so great ones too - and made lots of fabulous memories too. I just love Disney World!! pixiedust:

Some highlights off the top of my head...

* Our whole evening at Yachtsman Steakhouse!
* Dole whips, dole whips and dole whips!
* Finally trying corn dog nuggets.
* Meeting the very lovely TrixieQuilts and sharing a great meal with her at Raglan Road.
* Frozen Sunshine from Beaches & Cream.
* Eating breakfast with Pooh and the gang at Crystal Palace.
* All our old favourite restaurants that remain as good as ever... Ohana, Boma and Raglan Road.

Okay, so that's pretty much our whole trip. Hehee. Clearly I'm not very good at choosing just a couple of highlights!

I hope you'll continue to read along as I review some of the restaurants we tried aboard the Disney Dream! :sail:

I love the Bakery! It's so nice now that they've expanded it! It used to be so tiny!

Can't wait to hear about the Dream!

I've been following along-Are you going to put your cruise reviews on this board or the Cruise board?

You should put more pictures of baby Leo-he's too cute!

Mmmmm, I wish I could try that Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake right now!

Looking forward to hearing about your cruise. We haven't been on a Disney Cruise, but really hope to in the next few years.

The Bakery breakfast and sweet treats look great. I have only popped in there for a look, but have never tried anything there. I need to add it to my must try bucket list though. Hope the cruise was wonderful :)

really enjoyed reading this review! Looking forward to seeing your posts from the Disney Dream.

Your son is a cutie too!!
