I know some of you do not like the concept of renting (including my DH who will NEVER be bothered with renting, he will sell my points if anything ever happens to me). I bought too many points last year and I did not want to sell them. I am sure we will be using more and more of the points once my kids are older.
With all the great deals offered by Disney this year and the fact that we like to travel for long weekends with weekends smack in the middle, and could not bear the thought of using weekend points, I have rented out many points to finance our trips and be able to keep my points for now.
Through renting, I have met some really nice people.
Tonight, when I took my 5-year-old home from pre-school, she picked up this postcard from the mailbox that was addressed to her from BuzzLightYear, with Al's ToyBarn at the background with the whole gang. I know it came from one of my renters who was there last week. My DD was so thrilled that she ran back to our apartment and hid the postcard underneath her pillow so that her younger sister cannot get hold of it to damage it.
This absolutely made my day
(Kathi, thank you so much if you are reading this).
I wish I could have taken a picture of my DD's face when she saw the postcard (she is a HUGE Buzz fan).
Some of the people who rented from me are now DVC owners and some are going back using my points. We keep in touch at times and it has just been a wonderful experience. These are the people you know their real names and some of their personal stories (rather than people on the DisBoard that I don't really know besides a screen name).
It is nice to know real people in real lives who love to go to WDW as much as we do and exchange stories.
Without renting my points, I would never have met these people and Disney is just something that I have to keep to myself, can't really talk about it at work or with other family members.
But the people I met via renting are just as crazy as I am with WDW, and it is a really wonderful experience!!
