A Stringbean, a Wingnut, and a plan! (A January '12 PTR) TRIP REPORT STARTED!! 1/16!!

What a difficult question! Tomorrowland is chock full of great attractions!

Although I'm a fan of Space Mountain, I like several of the other rollarcoasters more, so that's out of first place.

I think Buzz Lightyear is such a hoot that I'd rank that #1. Carousel of Progress is close behind, though... if they ever took it down, I'd be crying right along with the rest of you.

Tomorrowland is pretty much my favorite just for the Merchant of Venus pun (I love a good pun). So my list is probably..

1. Merchant of Venus wall (it counts! Even though I think I've been in the actual store for like five seconds).
2. Buzz (even though I'm terrible at it. How do people do well at this?!)
3. Space Mountain (I usually close my eyes on roller coasters anyway, so this saves me effort ;) ).

* Earl of Sandwich too bad they don't serve the Thanksgiving sandwich year round...drool

That's my favorite Earl sandwich, too. When listed separately, the ingredients don't sound like they would all go together so well, but they really do end up making an awesome sandwich!

Buzz is #1 for us in Tomorrowland. Brooklynn loves it, and when we can walk on, we do it two or three times in a row so that she gets her fill.

I completely agree... lip smaking good stuff!

Oooh your Top 6 sounds really good!! I really have to try Columbia Harbour House one day. It keeps making my list of places I really really want to try (especially being able to sit in that seating area overlooking Frontierland).

you can also see HM up there too...some great Disney "magic" up there w/ the details...ever read the Hidden Magic book?

Day 3 - Your Favorite Attraction in Tomorrowland

2. The TTA PeopleMover I just love. It's just 9 or so minutes of relaxing breezy enjoyment through the trailer of the attractions of Tomorrowland (oh, and a lovely view of the Castle at one point!)

How about you? Can you pick just one favorite? Or three. Three is fine too. Six may be excessive, considering there's only eight Tomorrowland attractions in total...

:rotfl2: you have me cracking up here...6 may be a bit excessive

so my fav Tomorrowland Attraction (along w/ my family) has to be the Peoplemover...LOVE IT! I have an upcoming Dismeet on it in Oct...of course during MNSSHP...can't wait to see some people's expressions when they see us going up the walkway...oooohhhhh ;)

It really is! Until I started actually thinking about it, I forgot how much of Tomorrowland I really love!

Buzz is really fun, but I always do really pitifully on it . Like, don't even break 20,000 points pitiful.

Tomorrowland is pretty much my favorite just for the Merchant of Venus pun (I love a good pun). So my list is probably..

3. Space Mountain (I usually close my eyes on roller coasters anyway, so this saves me effort ;) ).

The Merchant of Venus wall ABSOLUTELY counts!! Especially since I was seriously considering giving a shout-out to the metal palm trees in Tomorrowland too! I love those things. I think decor and ambiance definitely counts as an attraction while in Disney.

I am right there with you at doing terribly at Buzz. I even try to read the cheats to find the really high-scoring things to hit. I'm pretty sure there's no hope for me with this ride .

I want to love Space Mountain, but it just always makes me feel like a giant (weird sitting positions in the car, always feel like I'm going to hit my head) at my towering stature of 5'5" :rotfl:.

That's my favorite Earl sandwich, too. When listed separately, the ingredients don't sound like they would all go together so well, but they really do end up making an awesome sandwich!

Alright. I really have to buckle down and make it to Earl during this trip. It seems ridiculous that I haven't been there yet! These sandwiches sound awesome!

I'm terrible at Buzz, but it is a fun ride! And I like that it isn't impossible to walk-on, so you can ride a few times in a row.

I'm definitely going to give Earl a try one of these days (I feel like such a bad Dis-er for not having gone yet!), it sounds great!!

I have! I love that book, it has some really cool stuff in there.

Hahahaha hey, I think the PeopleMover is a great place for a Dismeet!! I see no problem with taking that 10 minutes to ride it during the party! :thumbsup2

The next morning will find us trekking to the Polynesian in search of deep fried sugary toast.

Actually, if I know my Wingnut, he'll probably want to try something different.

Let's see:

Stringbean: When we go to Kona again, would you want to have the Tonga Toast again or try something else?

Wingnut: I think I'd want to try something new. Yeah, I mean, Tonga Toast is good, but they have stuff that I really wouldn't get anywhere else.

SB: Like the poached eggs with the pulled pork hash?

W: Yeah, that's the one I was really looking at.

(We'd do so well on a game show )

Last time I had the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes, and I could swear that macadamia nuts were coming out of my ears after eating those.

VERY good, but a bit too chock-full of nuts for me.

Maybe I'll go for the Big Kahuna with a bunch of switch-a-rooing (no French toast for this girl). Or maybe the Steak and Eggs...the one at GFC is so great, I'd love to see another place's take on it.

No lunch plans for this day, perhaps we will attempt for fun snacking or meandering to a random CS place.

Dinner this night is at a place I am super-excited about: Artist Point.

I absolutely cannot wait to eat here, not only will this be my first time seeing Wilderness Lodge, which looks gorgeous, the restaurant looks so wonderful too.

And I'm very much looking forward to the berry cobbler.

I love berries. I love cobbler. I have a good feeling about this one...:goodvibes

I'm very excited for that cobbler! I'm also intrigued by the croissant berry bread pudding (which probably has a cuter name than that) in Sunshine Seasons. If that is spice-free, it may be another new snack tried on this trip!

I'm sure everyone has been following (or at least heard about) hurricane Irene barreling its (her?) way towards the Northeast.

AKA...well...us, among many others.

I just wanted to send some extra pixie dust to our East Coast neighbors, I hope that everyone rides out the storm safely (and I'm still not giving up hope that the storm just magically disappears...:rolleyes1) and without much trouble! :wizard:

Wingnut already got us a bunch of water, batteries, and flashlights, and I picked up some (Wingnut is tormenting me over buying 48) candles.

(It wasn't like I grabbed 48 packages of candles, the different sizes just happened to come in packages of multiples!)

As far as this being a Disney-related update...well...we do have Phineas and Ferb mac and cheese! :thumbsup2

Best of luck to you too, I too am in the lovely purple area, so we stocked up on water, and batteries. My niece is slightly freaking out, I just keep trying to reassure her that everything will be okay.

Favorite Tomorrowland attraction...I think I'd have to go with Space Mountain first, and Buzz Lightyear second. Space Mountain just b/c I love roller coasters and Buzz Lightyear because for YEARS that was one of the only rides my sister would go on, and my family gets super competitive over it.

I've been following Hurricane Irene, as well, since I'm right near Boston and therefore also in that lovely purple area. Hope you guys don't have any trouble!

Thank you, best of luck to you too, purple area neighbor!!! Admittedly, I am a bit nervous, but I know we're very prepared, and everything is going to be okay. It's good you're stocked up as well! The D-cell batteries FLEW off the shelves around here (along with water, dry food, and flashlights!)

Hahaha I like to talk a big game about Buzz to whoever I'm standing in line with, but we all know I'm not going to be breaking any galactic records here.

Hey, another purple area friend!! Thank you, best of luck to you guys too! I hope you don't have any trouble either!!

hope all remain safe and unharmed...sending lots of pixie dust pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

and enjoy your P&F mac and cheese :goodvibes

Thank you!!! We're stocked up and prepared!

(Actually, I realized after I posted that that I had already eaten the P&F mac and cheese! :sad2: So, sadly, regular-shaped noodles are going to have to suffice. "Where's Perry?" Not in my mac and cheese this time around )

I am seriously trying to fit in a Kona breakfast ADR. I know it might be a bit much, but...I need to try that Tonga Toast! :rotfl:

Stay safe in the hurricane! :goodvibes

Wishing all of you purple people the very best! I hope this thing dies down quicker than expected. It has already done enough damage as it is. :sad2:

48 candles???? WOW. Let's hope you don't need them all. :rotfl:

I hope things are going well up there. We are over the worst and we have not lost our power or had any major damage, just tons of rain.

Love your plans for Day 5 was it?

Kona in the morning and AP in the evening. That sounds perfect to me. I hope you love AP. I promise to take tons of food pix in December. :thumbsup2

Stay safe, guys!
(Oh, and 48 candles is totally acceptable. Totally.)

Thanks!!! I agree! :thumbsup2

I don't think it's a bit much at all!! Their breakfast is really great, and I love the relaxing atmosphere before heading to the parks! (The Tonga Toast doesn't hurt either! :thumbsup2)

Thanks!! You too! :goodvibes

Hahaha not yet!! (But I'm prepared!)

That's good, I'm glad to hear that you are doing well! Things seem to be calming down at the moment.

I think it was day 5, yes....I'm starting to lose track, actually!

I'm really thinking I'm going to love AP. It just has intrigued me for so long! I'll definitely want to see your pics from there!!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes!! :goodvibes

Thankfully it seems that things are finally starting to wind down here. Last night was pretty torrential, there were strong winds and heavy rains throughout the night, and the power went on and off a few times, but it's been on now. (I'm hearing of a few people losing power after the storm passed them, so I'm still keeping the phones all charged!)

From our windows, it seems as though our immediate vicinity isn't too damaged. A few down branches, and our parking lot had a bit of water in it, but nothing too bad. Apparently there is a lot of flooding around us though, so we've just been watching the news and seeing what's happening.

It's still a bit windy and rainy (but nowhere near like last night), which is supposed to be lessening throughout the day.

I hope that the rest of the people around the Eastern Seaboard are doing well as well!

Glad the storm wasn't too bad for you guys! I think it's supposed to start dying down around 1 here, so we're just waiting it out for now! There are a few branches down on my street, but so far, nothing terrible, thank goodness! I just hope nothing terrible happens in the next few hours! :cool1:

Oh, and thanks to you and that Tonga Toast picture, I added a Kona breakfast ADR! I'm not sure if we will actually go, I added it for the day we check in to WL, so we might be too busy that day, but at least I have one! :thumbsup2
