A story of renewed hope & the power of Dis

You're right Ed that bottleneck at the TTC is ridiculous I AM starting to see why people wear outrageous things it is like trying to find a needle in a hay stack

Re- RFID chip in the bib I understand that's how they clock your time, but I'm hearing you can "follow" your runner on-line or through a text or something based on the chip? , or is that only for family that pays for preferred seating/race retreat celebration etc Know anything about that ?

At the point where you have passed Caseys and then Hub/turning into Tomorrowland what mile are we at ? Its encouraging to see all ages and all sizes of people doing this :thumbsup2

When the runners enter Tomorrowland they loop around to Fantasyland. They come thru the castle and desend down the right side ramp back to the hub. This the real bottleneck. I will get to these pics tonight when i get home.

When you come thru the castle i think the brochure said it was 5.6 miles. I have the entire course map in my truck. I will have to get pics of that and post.

The timing/tracking i was going to get to at the end. Yes anyone can follow you. They can be at Disney or any where in the country/world and see your times. Since i was there i had selected the text option. Not sure on how much of a time delay from crossing sensor until text received. They have sensors at the 5K, 10K and the finish. The info will give you segment time, per mile pace and estimated finishing time. This helped me cause i could plan if i wanted to browse a resort or not. I knew the next pic spot mile marker and about how much free time i had. I will post that info from last years brochure.

Thanks Ed I look forward to everything else :thumbsup2 you have a terrific day
my shift went very fast last night it seemed, I hope yours does too

The pictures are quite interesting Ed. This makes me sure that I would much rather remain happily curled up in bed in my Villa. Crowds freak me out. When the parks get crowded I go home. I would not enjoy being caught up in those bottlenecks!

Ruthie, I can't believe you never heard the word pescetarian before! I'm glad PIO is helping to broaden your horizons.

WOW - Information overload!! I LOOOVVEEE it. And it's giving me ideas on how to wheedle a Dear Friend but Disney Hater Only Because She's Never Really Been into taking her two kids. She used running as her weight management before said kiddos and I think her DH is into it too. My DH and I could watch the kiddos while they run!! Whoot!!!

Anyway...I'm going to try and keep up up better, but no promises with insanity and short-handedness at work.

I Would like to say I would love to do a 5K, but the truth is I'm not a runner. and not just because I'm overweight. I'm a sprinter, if anything...but if I get my stamina back up, I might be able to walk it. But in the meantime, I live vicariously through you, RuthIE (and you too Ed:wave2:)

Starting to sound like a plan ;)

:confused3 I can't believe you can't believe I never heard the word. For starters, why if you needed to comment on it why post it here and not on the thread I wrote it on ?

I've had no occasion to ever hear a word like that in my life, I don't exactly travel in expanding culinary circles and when would my family use such a term? I would challenge anyone to a game of Scrabble any day

Pio uses the term pesky vegetarian and when I found someone else using the term " pescetarian "
to complain about her DD it was natural I thought she made the term up running the two words together No one is helping me broaden my horizons in terms of vocabulary I don't know whether to be insulted or amused

Not sure how exciting that is going to be :lmao:

Please don't be insulted! I didn't mean it inthat way. I guess living on Southern California we have people with so many different weird dietary trends that its har d not to come across so many terms. Pesce-vegetarian is a common term for folks who don't eat meat but eat fish. There are people who differentiate themselves as lacto-ouvo vegetarians if they eat cheese ir eggs. We have restaurants here for folks who only eatraw foods, vegans who only eat non animal products and every variation under the sun. Often times here a Hollywood celebrity adpots a new diet and it becomes all the rage. Headlines in our news. :sad2:

I just forget that the rest of the country doesn't share the same whacky dietary trends thatare the stuff of news and tabloids here. Its news when someone invents a new kind of Latte!

I didn't mean it as an insult. I'm sorry if you took it that way.

I'm not an overly sensitive person Alison, well yes I am.. I do feel way too much, but in this case I don't think I could have taken it any other way. We were just a perfect example of how when there is only the written word to go by, and you can't see the other persons face and read the intention (behind the words chosen) in their eyes miscommunication can happen. So thank you for your explanation and apology. We native NYers have our opinion of you CA wackos ;):hippie: & THAT I meant in a very teasing way

I have to join in on the pesky what ever that word was. I had never heard that before. I guess being a former Joiseyian that puts me in the NE corridor:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Now on to the castle. It is a bad choke point, you know how crowded on a busy day that passage way can be, now try and put 28,000 thru over a several hours. :crowded::crowded:

But it still looks great

:lmao: Joisey Boy you get me :goodvibes !! you can take the boy out of joisey but never the joisey out of the boy so the word former doesn't apply and when we meet you will definitely hear Brooklyn

I LOVE the castle like this Gorgeous which is why Christmas season is my favorite time for the MK & resort hopping I don't mind the crowds at all that time of year and just focus on the magic of it all..I wouldn't go near the place on NYE though made that BIG mistake once !

I'm going to find out asap what the park hours are the night of your TOT race My friends are not going to do the Happy Haunts 5K that morning so I probably won't either

:sad2: I can't believe that at THAT point of a 13.1 mile race the castle isn't even the 1/2 way mark...it reminds of traffic on a Sat night in Manhattan NEXT year I'll be ready & more prepared to run TOT I think it would be much better especially running at night You know how hot its been the past few February I'm hoping next Feb will be a cold snap for this race...not take your breath away freezing and certainly not freak snow but 50's would be my wish

I found 2 friends coming out of the castle this year. Center of the pics Light blue top and blue top waving. From this point there were no spectators allowed from the hub to Splash mountain where the exit was.

You did the NYE in the MK too. :rotfl2::rotfl2: My DD and DS used to love going over to Universal for their NYE. No where near the crowds back then. The one year my DS and I decided to see what NYE was going to be like. Main Street was solidly packed with people shoulder to shoulder about 11pm. You could not really move at all. When the fireworks went off at midnight everybody went to the gates and we went back over to BTMRR & SM for a couple more hours. We said never never again. Now EPCOT might something different, but i would have to be staying over at the Yacht Club for that night. 5 minute walk and back in the room:cool1::cool1:

That's amazing that you found them ..mind blowing really...ahhh! the pictures so cute from the waving to the blowing a kiss & you caught it with your camera :)
I am more and more leery that Fred will ever find his way around the parks or ever find me :sad2: He can drive all over this country & does with no problem but put him in a Disney park & he is lost and now put him there without me to show him the way...not sure this is going to happen I think I will probably find him in the car sound sleep after my race I am preparing myself for it

The January race last year was in the low 40's at the 6am start. This year it was in the mid 70's. The best friend ran the Goofy race and a half this year. So i know that when the sunday full marathon was over 6 1/2 hours later for her temps were in the mid 80's easily.

I was there 2011 for NYE 2012 insanity was the word of the night Actually it started late morning when droves of people put blankets down in the middle of the pathway outside of Caseys and they planted themselves there :sad2: no one made them move I couldn't believe it You're absolutely right I would go ONLY if staying at an EPCOT resort

40's to start the race would be wonderful Is your DD running the TOT with you ? The Glass slipper was sold out before she committed wasn't it ? Princess is now at 69 % full and my partner has not yet registered I am not having a good feeling about this at all..since it was his idea I certainly wouldn't have had this hair brain scheme on my own but whatever happens I am fully committed now..financially at least!

Now when they leave the park they head over to the road that goes past the GF and Poly. These pics were taken last year since i only did the Poly and TTC.

Only my sister is. I had asked DD is she was wanting to come down from Atlanta and run but she is already coming down for a friends wedding in November. I do not know if she is thinking about it or not for the 1/2. DD and her BF have done a couple of 5K's in Atlanta and the Princess 5K this year.
