I have to get them from my phone and put them on PB. Will do that soon.

First off let me start by saying that do I wish I was able to be with everyone at the Saturday night dinner. Looks and sounds like it was an absolutely great night. The idea for the signature poster was fantastic.

I did get to meet with PIO, Denise and Karolyn on that Monday night before the big meet. Denise (DHorner233) and Karolyn (Goopysolelady) are from the Where In The World thread in the photography section. Denise and Karolyn didn't know I was driving up after work. It was a surprise DISmeet for them. The meet could not have been pulled off without the fantastic help from PIO. I had let her know of the plans I was trying to pull off. I get off work about 4, drive up and I am in the park at 7 and stopping at POFQ for a little bit. Had a great time for a few hours and then it was back to work the next day.

I did get to meet PIO and her husband and son (again), Alison and Fran, Tiffany and her husband, and Bobbi and Nancy during the Wishes Fireworks cruise. That was a wonderful cruise. On that Sunday night I finally got to meet up with Ruthie. We had been trying to meet several times over the month or 2 earlier but my life situations took priority.

Now back to the night of the big meet. This night started out for me in the beginning of the year when I signed up to run the Disney 1/2 marathon in January 2014 with friends from work. Some of you know what is going on behind the scenes in life so this night was to be about getting away and doing something with my sister. So we signed up to do the TOT 10 mile event. Needed to see where I was at in my training for the 1/2. She got up to POFQ Saturday afternoon. We had a light dinner and then headed to corrals on the parking lot of HS to wait for the start of the run. The running started at 10pm and our corral started at 10:19.

Had fun listening to the prerace DJ and just waiting along with 11,300 other runners.

Our plan was to go easy since I had never run anything like this before. No speed records at least not for these old legs (pic later):lmao: Anyway I was feeling good with the training I had did up to this point here at the 10K Mark (6.2 miles).

Like I said earlier this was about the 2 of us doing this event together so we did not leave each others side. So by the 7 1/2 mile mark we both had the aching body parts. We had gotten to the point that we would not be picked up by the sweeping crew and walked the rest of the 2 miles

Now at the 8 mile mark is when we started to have a little fun. I was thinking to myself "WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING"

When we got to the 9 mile mark I was thinking "ok can we end this":rotfl2:

Like I said earlier, at this point with the aches we had and walking we just wanted to finish the 10 miles and we did. :woohoo:

Now as we are sitting down and resting while slobbering handfuls of BioFreeze of the legs I had them wrapped in ice just to help make sure that the knees didn't bother me later in which they didn't. My sister snaps a pic and sends it out to everyone including my son and daughter with the word of "here is your dad and his sexy legs" :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Saturday night was a great night for us.

Seems like there are a number of requests for a recipe. I posted one without the kecap manis on the PTR here:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=48309003&postcount=740

If you have access to Kecap Manis or Sweet Soya Sauce, add about 2 - 3 generous tablespoons to the rice.

I did take pictures as I was cooking. So chances are I'll be writing it up, including a recipe (in a similar manner to that on the PTR) when I get to the appropriate time.

Ruthie - I'm not sure if you can see all of my siggie or not; but the link to my TR is there. In any event, here it is.

I'm back and all caught up!! I really enjoyed reading about all of the Dis meets. I really need to get to that Theme Park Connection Store someday! I do check out their stuff on Ebay but it's probably not the same as being there.

So as I spoiled earlier in this thread, Ruthie and I did meet and had a wonderful time at breakfast and MNSSHP. I've started a TR for the trip so I'll shameless plug it on here. Link is in my signature, it's the "Rock On" one. I probably won't get to the part with Ruthie for a few weeks but I always love new followers!

I slept later than I should have, but not as long as I need too, so can only pop in here a minute First of all I love having this place for us all to gather & keep in touch and that was the goal from the start So much more than my reporting & posting pictures.... although I not so humbly admit I have some DAMN good ones coming up :cool1:

Ed I am thrilled with the posts about the 10 K race you & your sister did have more to say about that when I have time tomorrow Don't disappear anymore its wonderful when you are here :goodvibes

Ok have a blessed night I send you all love and will tty tomorrow

Wow, I was behind! Great update. The food looks delicious! Looks like everyone had a lot of fun too!
Glad you caught up on some of your sleep.

Congrats to Ed and sister! Nice to have a sibling that can help drag your butt over the finish line. :)

Thanks Ruthie on the offer of the Marie shirt when/if one becomes available. I'll pm you her size, as she would kick my butt if I ousted it on a public forum! Lol

Looking forward to your next update.

Hi, Ruthie. You obviously needed/need the sleep. We aren't going anywhere.

I don't see much sleep in my future but I love that you are all here in one of my happy places :wave2:

He's a cutie, but I have a soft spot for any kinds of hounds.

Can't wait to hear more about your meets!!

Oh my, Gilbert was adorable as a puppy and a beautiful dog! Happy Birthday Gilbert.

And Happy Halloween Ruthie.

Aww Cute Kathy...thanks you too Ruth updates continuing soon How is Cale doing with his recuperating from knee surgery? Send him my thoughts/prayers

For Gilbert and his day some trivia How he got his name.?..yep we are just ever so slightly Disney obsessed in this family ! .Wanted something different though as we have Fantasia, Lily, Belle, Disney ( and others with non-Disney names for various reasons) .Yet never once in almost 6 decades of sharing my life with dogs never had one named PLUTO :confused3 Next time, and knowing me there will surely be a next time

Gilbert Goof is Goofy's nephew in classic Disney comic book appearances. He is a younger and smarter counterpart of Goofy.

Gilbert's first appearance occurred in a May 1954 comic book appearance where Goofy told Mickey that he is expecting a visit from him. However, he got lost and ended up in a university, which then exploded because of his experiment. Later, Goofy and Gilbert attended a TV quiz, which Gilbert couldn't answer correctly and ended up in kindergarten.
Since then, he made a number of comic appearances in the late 1950s and the 1960s. His notable comic appearances mostly features the adventures of Super Goof, Goofy's superhero alias. His recent comic book appearances features him playing soccer with Morty and Ferdie Fieldmouse, starting with "The Homer" (Mickey Mouse and Friends #263, 2004).

While Goofy's son Max Goof appeared in Goof Troop (and its spinoffs), Disney's House of Mouse and Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas (and its sequel), Gilbert has not appeared in animation quite so often. His only appearances are regularly in Disney comic books.

Pretty cool huh ?

Awwwww!!! Gilbert is so cute. Love all the pictures of him and the backstory of his name. We get a lot of Redbones in at the shelter I volunteer at. Our county has a lot of rural areas so we get quite a few hound varieties.

Now I want a puppy. (said in my best 5 year old whiney voice).

 I know you do get a lot of redbones Gilbert and his little family were found in the middle of a median of a major hwy there in GA I forget which but the state troopers called my friend in Conyers and she took them in of course

When I belonged to Pointer Rescue we were so busy my friend started her own non-profit as an off shoot of Pointer Rescue to handle the over flow Lily & Belle ( my Pointer sisters) came from GA too Dillon came from N or S Carolina ( whichever one has a Dillon town...hence his name ;) ) but spent time in GA too

And now the " Night the lights went out in Georgia " is in my head..:rotfl:.right after Maxine's farrier gets here It's lights out for ME

cool info! Happy Birthday Gilbert!

I am not with it today, late night here in Boston area! Sorry Ruthie, I know you are a New Yorker at heart, but darn this Red Sox team had heart! Seemed every day for months after the Boston Marathon bombing, you would hear one of these guys had just shown up in one of the victims hospital rooms. unannounced no fanfare. Often asking pictures aren't released. I only wish my Dad was here to have witnessed this remarkable team & the win this city experienced. Now... on with the football & hockey season....oh basketball too I guess....:rolleyes1

What a cool medal!

Saturday night was a great night for us.

Congratulations on your 10k! One day i'll do one...someday :rotfl:
