A spoiled Disneylander’s report of our 1st trip to WDW as DVC members (2nd trip to WDW ever)

When you call the front desk at a WDW resort you are calling a call center. The only real way to talk to the front desk is to walk to the front desk. I find it interesting that a call center didn't pick up 3 out of 4 times.
Interesting, that is unfortunate. I didn't know that. Pretty sure at DLR and Aul you get to talk to the front desk. Yes 3 out of 4 times no answer.

Yep, we learned this a few years ago when we got "upgraded" to a water view at Yacht Club but that also put us in the dog wing and we had a neighbor who left his dog in the room and it would bark non-stop. Finally had to walk to the front desk to see if they could do anything about it because the call center couldn't address it.

Wow this really explains a lot. Frontdesk in person was awesome I was wondering how they could be so bad by phone. Now I know why. Didn’t help that I was at Animal Kingdom and it was a mile walk to the Frontdesk. 🤣🤣

I've never had the call center not pick up. And they're fine if you're just asking for something like extra pillows (I always need more), etc. But knowing that they're not the specific resort's front desk, I don't ask about very resort specific questions. Unfortunately one just has to walk to the front desk for those questions.

It didn't always use to be that way, I remember that before the pandemic I would get through to the front desk like a normal hotel. I assume this saves money somehow, sigh. The Disneyland hotels (VDH, VGC) get you through to the front desk if I remember correctly from my last visit in August.

Another win for west coast properties in my book.

You weren't a big fan of Epcot?! Blasphemy!

I can't wait to see what you think of CCV/Wilderness Lodge.
I know right. Next time we will be going to Epcot 1st. I am so hoping for extended hours when we go in August. We will do the resorts mostly during the day and parks in the eve. I just learned that we can use both the CCV and BRV pools, so we are very happy about that.

Can you give your thoughts of BWV if you have a stroller? Do you think it would be hard to navigate?

Where we were I think it was very stroller friendly. Just be careful of the doors, my husband "the door guy" said they aren't setup properly so if you are standing there and someone pushes the button it will open (no sensors) and for not having sensors it opens too fast which is the worst part of it. Epcot was close enough to walk, and Im pretty sure you don't have to breakdown stroller for the friendship boats.

Thank you!

How did you not fall in love with world showcase?
I've loved it and almost broke up with it when visiting during summer because of the heat and long walk lol
At least she preferred your ride to Buzz Lightyear haha
the sun was just so much
I agree with AstroBlasters that you should take a break between 2pm and 5pm. Maybe get an early dinner before going back to the park. Honestly, the prime time is too short between when it's not too hot and when the sunset (and food are not served early in the morning).

I think visiting Epcot first next time and taking breaks will really help me enjoy it. I think if we ever do all 4 parks one trip again we will do Epcot, then MK, then HS then last AK. AK really is much cooler due to all the vegetation. I mean its still real hot but just a tad easier to deal with

Summer is that bad?

Buzz Lightyear is a pass from us until they do the planned upgrades.

Well, some people hate the humidity. Some can't stand the direct sun shine. I am more of the latter.
For me that one day the sun was just relentless following me around like an obsessed ex. But if it were day 1 of our trip I probably would've handled it better.

I can deal with sunshine via a sun umbrella or sun UV protected clothing…. humidity…. the devil’s breath!
I said at least 30 times how I couldn't believe I didn't bring our travel umbrellas. Considered buying one there but they weren't travel packing friendly in size.

I might consider wearing UV protection pants next time. It would be hard to create a shade for your legs with an umbrella when it's not noon 🤣
Also, long sleeved clothing and a hat + neck fan to combat humidity. Bye theme shirts

I have a lot of Columbia UV protected clothes that are very light but do a good job at sun protection…. but I can imagine being pretty miserable if those clothes became drenched because of the humidity…

Nope I will suffer, I have to have a theme shirt while there. I also wont wear anything but jeans. Its like I love to punish myself
