A Smile in my Heart–Magical Week of Friends,Fun & Freezing-10/28-COMPLETE!

A pressed penny adventure!! That sounds sooo awesome. I may be doing that on my upcoming trip I have a few pressed pennys. LOL.

Thanks Amanda! It was a lot of fun! I love learning about things from trip reports - that's where I got the idea! :goodvibes

That is nice that you and Emily got to spend some quality time together at Disney. Looking forward to hearing about your favorite day of the trip.

What a great idea! We've done the pressed pennies in the parks and all over but this is more intimate. A nice mother-daughter thing. I think my little one (now 11) is a little too old now. They grow up too fast.

It was nice to have just Mommy/Emily time!! :goodvibes

Nah....you could still do it! I bet she would love it!!

We loved doing pressed pennies when the kids were younger. We got everyone but one for the 50th birthday at disneyland. That one was broken.

That is so great that you and Emily got to spend some special alone time together. :goodvibes

I can't wait to read about your favorite day!

Awesome update Sara! I love everything about your little adventure with Emily...what a great idea, and a fun thing to do together!:goodvibes

That sure sounds like a dangerous outdoor bridge btwn CR and BLT in the rain! Many people have commented that they aren't sure why they didn't enclose it.:confused3

Looking forward to hearing about rope drop at the MK, and all about your favourite day of the trip!:goodvibes

Great trip report and pics, can't wait to hear more.

I was so surprised when I started reading your TR and had to laugh because I also have an Emily and a Michael. Emily is 13 (going on 25) and Michael just turned 9 on June 27th. We were also in Disney the exact same time as you, we checked into Pop on Feb 6th and checked out on Feb 13th. We left NJ at 12:30am on the 5th, our original plan was not to leave until noon on the 5th but, when we heard about the impending snow storm we decided to haul our butts out that night after a few hours of sleep. We stayed the night of the 5th outside the parks (at Buena Vista Suites) and checked into Pop bright and early on the morning of the 6th. I completely understand when you said how cold it was, my DH thought I was crazy for packing gloves "just in case", boy was he wrong when he said we wouldn't need them. If I remember correctly the coldest morning was on that Thursday, Feb 11th, the weather channel said it was 28 degrees with the wind chill at 8am:scared1:. We have been to Disney quite a few times and mostly in Jan., Feb., or March and I have to say that this last trip had to be the absolute coldest but, I will definately take the cold over the heat any day.

Thanks Trish! Emily and I had a lot of fun that night and she still talks about it! :goodvibes That bridge connecting CR to BLT is SO slippery - I thought that maybe I saw something had been done to it when I was there with Mom in May, but I'm not sure. :confused3

Hope to have an update soon! :)

How funny! :lmao: Well, they are both really good names!! ;)

Yes, it was cold wasn't it? Thankfully, as long as the sun was out, we warmed up during the middle of the day! The cold days AND the rainy days were a tough combo though! Glad we only had to deal with that on two of the days! I too will take cold over heat any day....it's a lot easier to get yourself warmed up with jackets and gloves than it is to try and cool yourself off when you get overheated! I think the news at one time said it was like Orlando's 2nd or 3rd coldest February on record.

Glad you are reading!! Did you do a report? I would love to read it if you did!

Love your little pressed penny adventure with Emily! What a great memory for you guys. Love all the pictures of Monica's place. Such a great place to just hang out for a bit while everyone was enjoying themselves. :goodvibes

Thanks Michelle! Monica's room was a great place to hang out and just be together. I know the boys certainly did love it (as did Monica and I) - only wish we had had longer!!

Update coming right up...

Day 4 - February 10, 2010
Magic Kingdom
Chapter 1

So, if you are keeping track, this is Day 4....yes DAY FOUR and we are just now getting to our most favorite park - the Magic Kingdom!! We went to AK on day one, Epcot on day two, and the Studios on day three and at the time we were planning the trip, I figured we would be fine not getting to the MK until Day 4 since we would, afterall, be able to see the castle every day from the Poly, see the fireworks in the evenings we were back at the Poly in time, etc, etc...I didn't really think it would be that bad.

Honestly, it really wasn't that bad, but boy oh boy was I ready to get there!!!

We planned on getting there for rope drop so we had a quick breakfast in the room and made the short walk over to the GCH to catch the monorail over to the MK. Have I mentioned how much I loved the Poly??

Funny thing....for some odd reason, on this day, Michael's tooth wasn't bothering him at all. Go figure.

We arrived in plenty of time for rope drop and were right up to where we were almost completely underneath the train station. It was pretty chilly this morning, so while we waited, this is what the girls looked like.

It might have been cold, but it was certainly a gorgeous day!! Look at those skies:

Here was our view from where we were standing:
P2100504.jpg

LET ME IN THERE!!!!

After about 10 to 15 minutes, the train started to make it's way around the corner and I immediately felt like I was five years old again! I love that feeling!!

Before we knew it, the park was open and Shawn was gone like a flash! When I told him we were doing the Dumbo dash, I really didn't expect him to actually DASH! LOL! I'm all about walking with purpose, but there was no way I was running down Main St, so I just walked quickly and took it all in with the video camera! I loved that Disney even has bubbles coming out of the trash cans in the hub! What a cute touch! When I got to Dumbo, they were right there at the front, ready to board.

Shawn sat this one out so he could get some pictures, so I was prepared to ride with Katie, and Emily and Michael were going to ride together....or so I thought.

Ugh.

Michael took this opportunity to play the independent-big-brother-who-doesn't-want-to-ride-with-his-little-sister card. Well, for me, that was not very pleasant. The line was steadily building and there is something really frustrating about seeing people ride something like Dumbo (that only has like 12 elephants and loading and unloading takes longer than the ride itself) and seeing them take up more Dumbos than what they were originally planning on using. We were going to need two Dumbos and I wasn’t about to make that three just so my 8 year old could have his own. So with Michael insisting he ride alone, of course, both girls felt the need to pull the "I want to ride with you, Mommy" card. Nice. As upset as I was with "Mr. Sourpuss", and despite the fact that the mother in me wanted to force him to ride with one of his sisters (because Mommy said so), I felt bad doing it to the girls. SO, the 3 of us girls squeezed into one Dumbo and Michael had a ton of space in his solo-ride Dumbo. Mommy wasn't exactly happy at that point, but whatayagonnado, right? I did flash many "I'm disappointed in you, Michael" faces to him whenever I got the chance. And we also had a nice little conversation afterwards about good attitudes (i.e. doing what your mother tells you!!!)

P2100509.jpg

We loaded onto our Dumbos and then we proceeded to sit.

And sit.

Oh come on, people!!

We dashed and now we want to ride!!

Come to find out, there was an empty Dumbo behind Michael and a couple in the Dumbo behind the empty one and after a couple of minutes, we saw a camera crew being strapped in backwards to the empty Dumbo. For some reason, a camera crew was there to film the couple. Don't know what it was about, but we did see them a couple more times that day being filmed.

After what seemed like an eternity (it was probably only 3 or 4 minutes) we lifted off for our short but glorious ride over Fantasyland.

After our spin on Dumbo, we made it over to my most favorite ride in all of Fantasyland, Peter Pan's Flight! We walked right on and enjoyed our flight over London and on to Neverland. Never disappoints.

P2100517.jpg

Next up....a visit with our favorite Hundred Acre Wood pals and Shawn scooted on over to Space Mountain to grab fastpasses (couldn’t believe we had waited that long to get our first set – we usually get them right at rope drop, but I guess Shawn was really wanting to experience the “Dumbo Dash”! LOL!)

We were planning on getting to the Toontown for rope drop at 9:45 but truth be told, I wanted to get there closer to 9:30 to assure us a good spot close to the rope in order to get to Tink and the fairies as soon as we could. With that said, we still thought we had time for a quick spin on the Teacups!

773-Disney-02-10-2010.jpg

Katie heard me joke about the sign with the two people trying to get out of the ride vehicle and calling in the “no Dancing” sign, so for the whole trip, she proceeded to say that each time she saw that sign. It was too funny!

P2100529.jpg

We spun ourselves silly on the teacups, although the spinner thing was FREEZING cold so it was hard to do – we put our gloves on at one point but then we were too slippery to spin it so we had to take them off and just freeze!

P2100531.jpg

Dumbo, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, and Mad Tea Party, and it was 9:30 and we were ready to head to Toontown for rope drop!!

Coming up...meeting someone in line at Toontown and another dash...this one not so successful!

Wonderful morning in Fantasyland! Sorry Micheal wasn't cooperating. Those boys just grow up too fast. Peter Pan is my favorite FL ride. Did real good getting so much done in such a short time. Can't wait to see your Fairy pictures.

YAY! MK!!! :woohoo:

Wow, I can't believe you accomplished all of that before 9:30! Way to go! :thumbsup2

I love this set of pictures because they kids have such huge smiles on their faces in all of them! MK is good for that! :goodvibes

Wow you guys had a really productive morning so far.

That's crazy that the weather was cold enough to need gloves at Disneyworld.

Hopefully you got to meet the fairies with not too much wait!

Your simultaneous TRs are starting to confuse me now!:rotfl: In one you and are extreme heat; the other extreme cold.

That is funny about the camera crew and filming at Dumbo...wonder what that was all about? Did it look like a "real" couple, or actors?

Interested to hear all about your toontown experience!:)

Thanks! Yeah, Michael had that one moment - but he improved after that, thank goodness! It's not like him to argue, but there wasn't a whole lot of time to negotiate since we were getting on the second Dumbo ride of the day! I just had to do a few "hisspers" later on to let him know to shape up!! :goodvibes

Thanks - that's one of the reasons this was one of my favorite days of the trip!! It was just easy and great! Very few bumps in the road!

Yes, it was one of the coldest February's on record for Orlando. Luckily, it warmed up enough for us not to need them for long, but having them in the morning sure did help!
