This is nothing life threatening or anything, but I am asking for prayers for my son. :worried: He is trying out for the baseball team at his high school, he is a Freshman.

Baseball is SO important to him and he really wants to make the team. He is a very good baseball player, but I can't say he is the best, but he does have a lot of natural athletic ability. There is a lot of competition to get on these teams and some parents have spent a ton of money for private trainers, etc. for their kids. We can't afford that.

Anyway the tryouts are going on now, and any and all prayers are appreciated. It will kill him if he gets cut. Thank you all so much.

***UPDATE***
Yeah!! He made it on the team! He's happy!! Mom's happy!! :cool1: :cheer2:

Thank you all for your prayers!!

Saying a prayer that your son makes the team and has great spring season.

Geesh guys, I was hoping for a little more support here, found my thread buried on pg. 4 :confused3

Maybe I should have title the thread "Bush Bashers Unite" or something :(

Thanks to those who did respond.

I've been there with football; it is nervewracking to wait!

Any news yet?

Good luck to your son!! I wish him the best :) Don't beat yourself up for not being able to afford private trainers etc....if he has natural ability, that is most important. I have a cousin whose parents could not afford to send him to private high school (where sports teams are best around here). He played baseball for his public HS, was better than average (i.e. made second team all state but not first), went on to play at a Jr. College in Arizona and now is a pitcher for the Houston Astos. On the flip side, I have another cousin whose parents are quite wealthy, he plays for a very elite private HS, went to all sorts of baseball camps, had trainers, the whole nine yards....he's looking at colleges now and it's not likely he'll be playing baseball at any of them....he's very bright so he'll do fine academically but he just doesn't have as much natural ability. My point is that no matter how much or little money you invest, nothing can substitute for natual athletic ability (and hard work and dedication of course).....prayers for your son :)

Thanks for the encouraging words! He is naturally gifted in sports. The high school he attends is a private boys school, some of these parents are very wealthy. The school has a very good reputation for their sports teams, but it's also a little political. Their basketball team was ranked 8th in the entire country for high school teams.

But you know, what will be, will be. His father and I have given him our best tips on presenting himself to the coaches, the rest will speak to his ability.

Yay!!! So happy for him (and you too!!)....congrats :)

Congratulations to you Ds!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:
