A Simple Guide to Making an Autograph Book

I love your covers! I'd love two Star Wars covers. One for Connor and one for Alice. 4x6 size please.

Thanks so much!!

Hi MusicMouse

Can you please make me a cover ( your blue one) in 5x7

That says Emma's autographs 2011

Thanks in advance I looked and you only had Emma in the other cover style.

I really like the cover that has all four parks represented....
May I have one that says:
"Torrie and Cayden's Autographs"??

Hope it all fits in one line! :)

Thank you!

This is probably a silly question, but I can't find the answer. I will be making autograph books for 6 grandkids for next June, and I plan to use matte photos for the pages. What is the best pen for marking on matte prints? A fat Sharpie? Just want to be sure I have the best pen for the type of paper and for the characters themselves. Thanks!

The best marker for writing on photographs is a Sharpie, but you want the regular-sized retractable ones. They are easier for the characters with gloves (they don't get marker all over their costumes) and you don't have to worry about the lids. :goodvibes

Hi... I am still having trouble printing the Star Wars autograps cover that says Ray... it come out as a thin line...

Thanks agian for all of your hard work.

Try opening it in another photo program, or copying and pasting into MS Word. Does it look right then? :goodvibes

MusicMouse those character dining pages are AWESOME!!!

I was wondering if you could make me some autograph book covers?

I love the white one with the 4 parks. Could you make one each for Lauren, Ashley, Darren and Leah with the blue writing? It looks great with the DHS hat!

Which method is best for making an autograph book? I've never made one so this is all new to me.

If you have the sheets printed on matte paper you can have it spiral bound at Staples? Do you mount something for the front and back to make the whole thing sturdy? Or do you mount is sheet on cardstock or something too? How many pages can they bind together for one book? What is the typical size - 5x7?

Do the artscow books look great in person? I tried making one but couldn't figure out how to make it more then 20 pages. Is that the maximum allowed for a 7x5 book?

I'd love to see an example of one bound at staples.

That's Natalie's cover. Isn't she an awesome DISigner? She's not designing for the boards right now, so I am personalizing these covers for her. Here you go :goodvibes:

To make your own books, you will want to print onto cardstock, which is stable enough that you don't need to mount it to anything else. Read post #1 thoroughly. It gives step by step instructions for printing on cardstock, printing as photos (these can also be bound), or making a photobook. There is an updated list of characters that are currently in the Parks in post #2. There are pictures of how my first spiral bound book came out in my photobucket. I have ordered books from Artscow, and their quality is quite good. There is a place at the bottom of the editing/adding photos to your book area that allows you to add more pages. :goodvibes

Thanks for the covers!

What I meant was getting them printed as Matte Photos instead of using so much ink on cardstock. I'm wondering if a book of matte pictures would be sturdy enough? When you have something bound at staples do they provide a back of any sort or you do bring that yourself?

Just to add to and support some things that MusicMouse has said...

I have done autographs for two years now and my girls love it! I have the autograph cards printed at a Walgreens-type of place. I put all of the cards in alphabetical order (and a safe place) and when we see a character, I take out the appropriate card and put it on a little clipboard (click me: http://www.staples.com/OIC-Clipboard-6-x-9/product_377253?catalogId=10051&fromUrl=home&cmSearchKeyword=377253&cmArea=SEARCH&langId=-1&storeId=10001&ddkey=http:StaplesSearch) for each of my girls to hold and then give them a retractable sharpie (click me: http://www.staples.com/Sharpie-Retractable-Fine-Point-Permanent-Markers-Black-Dozen/product_563076?cmArea=SEARCH) for the character to sign with. In addition, I take several pictures (don't we all!) of them with the character. It works out great!

When we get back home after the trip, I put the signed cards in a photograph album with each signed auto card next to a picture of my daughters with the character. I use this as a "running" album that I update with new character autographs (or ones we didn't get from the previous year) and pictures from each trip.

The other autograph book that I have done is a hard bound one that I had made thru artscow (see my photobucket link below for the pages I made/used). This worked out great as well, but the only problem is that you can't update it for each trip. From my experiences, if you have time to spare, artscow does a great job for a reasonable price; the only problem is that they are based in Hong Kong and it takes a few weeks from submitting your order to getting it delivered.

Although the hardbound book is nice, l prefer to use the individual auto cards and continuosly "update" the auto/photo album. Not only can we keep all of the auto cards in one book, but it is fun to see and compare my girls with the characters "over the years".

Hope this helps!

Evan

Matte pictures are definitely stable enough to bind. Most places will include a plastic front and back cover (clear or colored). If you are concerned, you can make your own covers out of heavy cardstock or chipboard. You can just glue your cover image right onto it and laminate it with contact paper. :goodvibes
