A Short but Not Sweet Trip Review *12-1 Pre-Trip Report Link

Still here reading and still happy for you all. :goodvibes

Thanks :goodvibes

Wow....what an amazing trip report (roller coaster ride to say the least)! I shed a few tears, chuckled a lot and had a smile on my face throughout the TR knowing all would turn out okay with Cassidy :goodvibes SO happy she is doing well!

You have an amazing, beautiful and blessed family and your story helped me take a step back and remind myself of life's blessings! I'm so happy you are planning a trip which your whole family deserves so don't think twice about wanting to go. Your little Cassidy is a little trooper and will live a long life - many happy memories ahead of you for your whole family :lovestruc

Thanks - this made my heart happy :goodvibes I agree, something in my mommy heart tells me it's true...

Agreeing with sherylcin that it sounds like you have an excellent doctor. :thumbsup2

So glad things are going so well for y'all. Lots of people thinking and praying about your family, including me. We'll be there in spirit when you go back in January -- but I think you'd have a great time even without that. Learning to enjoy what you have, when you have it, generally results in better vacations. :goodvibes

Thanks! I agree, we always go with the attitude that everything is NOT going to be perfect. There will be tired kids, long lines for something, not so good food, crabby cm's and a snappy word said here or there....BUT these will be few and far between - sandwiched with WONDERFUL MEMORIES. These are what we remember and focus on :goodvibes

I'm back for a quick update :D

Cassidy is still doing well - she's gaining weight and eating well. She has a check up 2 weeks from today where I will hopefully get a few more answers on if we should be exploring other avenues or just play the waiting game.

On a more fun note: I made our count-down calendar yesterday. In the past we've done chains - my longest was 9 months long!! lol I decided I wanted a more permanent one we could use over and over and this is what I came up with....

It's 99 Mickey Heads that I printed, colored and laminated. I made a path for us to travel to the Castle. Every morning someone gets to move "us" one Mickey Head closer.

Closer to the end - the Castle and our countdown calendar "final ring" that we've saved from past trips...

We're so ready - bring it on!! Though we've hit a minor snag - lol My Cassidy does NOT want to go unless we can stay at the Wilderness Lodge - lol I laugh, but it's not that funny. she is serious. She's very nervous about staying anywhere that she does not know just because she thinks it's going to be the hospital. She wants familiar.

I've been trying to show her videos of POR etc but she gets hysterical almost and rocks back and forth and says "I dont' want to go, I just want to stay home" But if I show her WL she will get excited and want to go to Disney. *sigh

Now, my husband just got his quarterly bonus and it was a very nice one so we "could" afford to stay, if we rented points, but I am SOOOOOOOO nervous to put that out there with her medical situation. ARG I am so mad that a regular room there is actually bigger than POR but can't sleep 5!!! SO frustrating.......so for now we're booked at POR and we're gonna work on her :goodvibes Maybe a last minute point rental wouldn't be out of the question either.....

Funky thing happened last night too, that only you guys would understand. Annie (middle DD) had Girl Scouts last night. At the end, her leader was talking to her and asking how her sister was etc. Then she proceeded to grill my daughter about how many times she's been to Disney etc. And follows it up with a "You know how many times I've been to Disney - NONE" etc etc..... Now maybe grill isn't the right word, but she was kind of making a big deal out of it and my dd is NOT a person who likes attention drawn to her and was quite upset by it. My kids don't really talk about Disney that much - they know how lucky they are and don't want to hurt their friends feelings talking about it - so she was uncomfortable.

Just want to tell people that yes, Disney can be expensive, but we make sacrifices in other areas. This lady for example always has an expensive coffee in her hand, along with the latest phone. She wears very expensive clothes/shoes and her and her husband go to Mexico a lot. Now I am not saying ANY of this is bad - I'm a huge believer in spending your money on whatever makes you happy as long as your kids are fed, but duh, maybe you could go to Disney if you changed your spending in other areas! ARG - come to my house - see that we don't have base boards up yet, I wear some of the same shoes I did in high school, I have an old flip phone and we NEVER eat out. Again, my way isn't the only right way, but it's the way WE are able to go to Disney.

Sorry, rant over. lol I'm just not sure why so many people view Disney as this unattainable vacation destination when it's really not with some planning.

"You know how many times I've been to Disney - NONE"

I completely get your view on this! People hear me talking about trips (that I don't take that often), or things that I've done, and their take is, 'must be nice.' But really, I sacrifice things like cranking up the air or heat in summer or winter, new clothes, etc., because the experiences I have are more of a priority to me than the things I have.

Oh my, I might have told that lady something. I hate that people do that to me but do that to my kids and this momma bear would go NUTS!!! Why can't people just be happy for us?

Ugh....I hope your sweet girl loves POR and agrees to still go to Disney! pixiedust:

How rude and inconsiderate of your daughter's girl scout leader! I hate when people act like that and feel the need to voice their opinions. We have friends and family members who question why we go to Disney every year or two. I don't tell them where to vacation, why question our choices.

Glad to hear things are going well with Cassidy and I love your countdown calendar!

And follows it up with a "You know how many times I've been to Disney - NONE" etc etc.....

That's way out of line. Especially with a scout who doesn't like a fuss! :(

I hope you told your daughter that her GS leader was "acting out", i.e., that your daughter hadn't done anything wrong, but her leader had issues that caused her to make such a fuss. ;) Seriously, she's worried about someone else taking their kids to WDW? :sad2:

We didn't vacation when I was a kid, and my parents spend their money on new houses and furnishings; in contrast, we spend our money on vacations and live in an older house with functional but often shabby furnishings. But they don't give us grief, and we don't give them grief, because we agree that what's important is that you love and care for your family.

And I'm thinking you've got those fundamentals down. :thumbsup2

Ugggggghhhh! People are so annoying! I get the same thing here. We have been to a Disney 4 times..... But we literally do nothing else! We save up for a big trip every other year. No weekend getaways, no trips to the beach, no staycations, and no toys for reasons other than their birthdays, Christmas. It's fine if others want to spend on that stuff, but we would rather save it all for big trip. Ugh. It's frustrating.

:thumbsup2 I agree with all of you - and the most annoying this is that it happened AGAIN, this past weekend. Only this time it was her Sunday School Teacher. This time I was with her and I kindly explained our philosophy to her, but she still didn't get it and all she could say was "Well, MY kids will never get there...." *sigh
YET, later Sunday morning this lady and I were talking in the same group of people at church and she was talking about how excited she was to be going on one of those "mystery bus trips" with a bunch of her girlfriends. Which again if FINE, but those are the kinds of things I don't do.

Oh well....what can you do. Some people will just never get it!

Well Stitch the lab has joined our family. And I must say....his badness level is unusually high for someone of his size..... LOL Actually not really, he is a pretty good pup. We love him a LOT! He's fitting right into our crazy family.

Also Cassidy is doing very well. She had her 5 yr well child check the other day and since September, she has gone from the 6th percentile on the weight chart to the 14th percentile. So we will take that!! Her BMI is still ridiculously low, but we will work on that! She is back to her normal crazy happy self. And we are loving it.

On another positive note, we have convinced Cassidy that POR is going to be awesome. It turns out that she wanted Wilderness Lodge so bad because to her that is Disney. She was just afraid that POR wasn't at Disney. We watched you tube videos and pics and showed her on the map. It really helped that Nana and her and Annie stayed there for a night on our trip. We won't be staying in the Royal room and she wasn't understanding that it was the same resort. So - it's ALL good now. Yay! I wasn't sure what to do.....she kept saying she didn't want to go if we didn't stay at WL and she kept making me PROMISE her that we would stay there. (in the throw up room as she calls it - lol) I didn't have the heart to promise her that and then not follow thru so I opted for the videos and pics to convince her - and it worked! lol

So finally here are some pics of our new baby....

That puppy is some serious adorable ness!!

So glad to hear that about Cassidy!

I can't wait for January, it can't come soon enough

Yay - I've started a Pre-Trip Report. Mostly just to hear myself talk, and look at my plans on paper. These FP+ Plans are fun to make, but man are they complicated for my family! We have thrill ride junkies and motion sickness pukers and some like this character etc. Oh well, it's giving me something to do....We leave 8 weeks from tomorrow!

Here is the link.....I think - LOL
Gonna Finish What We Started Pre-Trip Report

I just found your trip report by the most roundabout way ever (actually I was searching for "basin" and "soap" and got to one of the first posts in this thread!). Just wanted to say how glad I am that everything turned out fine in the end and that she's okay now, and thank you so much for sharing!

Now I need to go read your next trip report and am hoping it was a really good time at Disney!!
