A Shades of Green Wedding 9.29.2011

Woo woo DF and I just spent an hour reminiscing about old Disney movies and looking up sound clips on Amazon. He admitted that he looked up Disney info on Wikipedia the other day and he set the DVR to record Disney documentaries. He said he's getting excited and he feels like he's re-living his childhood.

I've created a Disney loving monster :cool1:

First of all, that's super lame about the dessert party! I hope you can work something out.

As for updating the title of your PJ, here's how I do it: go back to the very first post you made on the thread. Hit the edit button. It will take you to the edit page, where you can then hit "go advanced." Then you'll be able to type in any changes you want to make to the title. Hope that helps! :goodvibes

I love reminiscing about the old Disney movies! That's why DF and I are trying to watch as many as the old Disney movies as we can before we go for our honeymoon. It's so much fun because there are so many I haven't seen in ages. I even started a blog about it :)

Have you tried calling up and just saying that the DP is for a celebration or family gathering? Try not mentioning the word 'wedding'!!! My understanding is that other brides have done this and managed to book through events rather than DFTW. Once it is booked there is nothing in the rules to prevent you from wearing wedding attire in the resorts, only the parks!!!

Congrats! Tagging along..everything looks great so far! Love the STDs, boo on me missing the dress. I'm interested to see how things turn out popcorn:: I'm sure everything will turn out beautifully :goodvibes More please!

How do you feel about Virginia? I'm interested in SoG, I've emailed her, she got back to me once and I haven't heard back in over a week..she seems to be lacking in the response department. It makes me nervous.

Gah! It's been forever since I've been on the boards! Grad school and family craziness will do that, I suppose.

Thanks for the mini-tutorial. It's a big help! :goodvibes
DF and I have "borrowed" all the old Disney VHS movies that my mom had, so we're going to have a Disney movie marathon one weekend. I'll have to check out your blog, what's the url?

I think we've given up on the idea of a dessert party for now. If we find that there is a bunch of money left in the budget (which I don't think will happen) then we'll revisit the idea. Thanks for the advice, though!

I'm glad your joining in! I haven't had the need to contact Virginia very often, but when I do, she usually gets back to me within 48 hours. Maybe try calling her? I called once, she wasn't available, but the woman on the phone (Elizabeth I believe) fixed my problem with no trouble. It might be super busy with spring break going on, so maybe that's why it's taking a while. :confused3

I would stick with it, though. SoG's prices are hard to beat!

I'll post later this afternoon with a few minor wedding updates. :woohoo:

I'll post later this afternoon with a few minor wedding updates. :woohoo:

Glad I could help! Here's the link to my blog: http://beckydisneyquest.blogspot.com/

If you go to the top where it says "Complete Movie List," you can see which ones we've watched so far and which ones we haven't. I rounded up all of the VHS tapes that my mom had, and DF got all the ones from his house. We've almost gone through all of the ones that we own, though, so I think it's off to the library to see if I can find any more!

And I'm looking forward to more updates!

Another quick update- we moved the ceremony back to 9am with the breakfast right after. Hopefully this is the LAST time we change the time. So the schedule will go something like this:

7:30 photographer/videographer arrive for pre-wedding shoots
9:00 ceremony
9:30ish breakfast
10:30 portraits

Thanks for checking out my blog!

And I love the idea of using wooden flowers! My dad actually has a wooden rose in his office, just as a decoration, and it's so beautiful. I never thought wooden flowers could be that pretty, but they come out really nicely. Seems like yours will be gorgeous!

Aww, I'm sure it will be fine! Sometimes it's a huge mistake to read reviews of things online, because they get you all worked up for nothing. I think people are much more likely to post a review if they had a negative experience, so you don't get to hear all of the positive sides. AFTER I went to David's Bridal I heard all sorts of horror stories, but I've been there a few times (for the dress, and for bridesmaid dresses) and have had amazing service every time.

And all right on getting stuff booked! That's a great feeling, when you get some of the major vendors out of the way.

Woohoo! My mom and I are going to Kleinfeld's in NYC ("Say Yes to the Dress" store)! :dance3:

Just last night I was telling my mom that if we didn't find a dress this weekend with the mean bridal shop ladies, that we should go to NYC to look for a dress. Then today I log into the Gilt Wedding sale and there it is... a VIP pass to the sample sale at Kleinfeld's. It was fate! So I scooped them up and in 2 weeks my mom and I are going to make the 7 hour trek to the big apple. I feel like this is the Mecca for all brides, and I'm lucky enough to get the experience!

I've never been to the city so I'm a little scared, but very excited. If you have any advice for me about how to drive in the city or how to take the subway, yadda yadda yadda, I'd love to hear it!

AMAZING!!! I am soooo excited for you. Take tons of pictures of the craziness and whatnot, and I can't WAIT to read about it. :)

I've been to NYC a few times, but no advice on practical things--- the subway confused me (Boston's system is SO much easier) so I took a cab!!!!

How cool!! Going to Kleinfeld's will be so exciting :) I can't wait to hear all about it!

I grew up on Long Island, outside of NYC, so I've been into the city probably around 50 times. It's really not as bad as it seems, especially if you stay in the major tourist/shopping areas. The subway isn't too hard to figure out once you get a map. A cab is the easiest way to travel but also the most expensive. Parking can be super expensive, especially if you park somewhere near major tourist locations - we drove into the city once to go to one of the museums, and all of the parking was ridiculous - I think we paid almost $60 to park our car for the day.

I'm lagging behind so here it goes..

The flowers are AWESOME! They are sooo pretty and different, the colors are amazing. Love love love them!!!

Hooray for Kleinfeld's! I saw those passes on Gilt lol I'm supposed to be going Fri 6/10 with my friend for her to try on dresses then we're heading to J. Crew for our dresses..good times! I'm so excited for you, I can't wait to see how it goes:cool1:

Up until a month ago I lived just outside NYC (now I'm a whopping 30 mins north), between the George Washington Bridge and the Lincoln Tunnel, I also went to school in midtown and have spent lots of time in the city, all areas so any questions you have, just ask :) There are some areas that are still questionable but that's pretty much way uptown (far from where you'll be), I'm positive you'll be just fine, you'll love it! It's next Thursday, right? Where are you driving from?

Use Hopstop.com for subway/walking directions around the city - it's a life saver! If all else fails, you can always hail a cab, but it'll be pretty expensive compared to the subway.

Hi! :goodvibes Just joining in on your VR PJ! Love all of your plans so far...Our dresses are very similar also my bridesmaids did the 2 birds dresses. They are all different sizes and shapes and each one found a style that looked FANTABULOUS on them! Make sure to get the tube tops for them...they help hide all the undergarments and what-nots ;)!
