First let me say there is not a heath scare at PC just incase that is why you are reading the post:rolleyes:

I do have a very big concern however.:worried:
I was reading some reviews about PC.
We are staying there in April.
One of the reviews said that the son lived on P&J all week.
Aparently that is one of 2 kids meals offered.

MY SON IS HIGHLY ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS!:worried:

PEANUTS are everywhere but we try very hard to stay away from them.
If they are served at this all star and they are served as often then there is a great chance of Peanutbutter on tables, chairs,
counters, doorknobs......pop machine... you name it.:scared:
Even the smell can make my son ill.

Should I change my res???? Anyone ????
Thanks:confused: :crazy2:

There are pb sandwiches at every resort I have stayed at. I don't think you should change ressies. You know he has an allergy so you know what to watch out for. Go and have fun!

All the resorts have PB&J. Most WDW restaurants also have PB&J. My DD pratically lives off the stuff too and she had it at the WL, CBR, and the Poly. She also ate it throughout WDW. I suggest you wipe the tables well before sitting down.

candylover, my son is also highly allergic to peanuts. We've stayed at POFQ twice and WL once and haven't had any problems. Just use the same caution you'd use at any restaurant in your home town - ask about ingredients, check the table before you sit, etc. I'm sure you carry an Epi-Pen with you anyway, maybe take an extra one on vacation just in case. I've found that WDW is very accommodating with food allergies - any restaurant that we ate at, we'd ask the server about ingredients and he/she would double-check with the chef.

go and have fun!! :D

(Long post)
I think I read that there is a lot of peanut butter at POR, too. There isn't at the park restaurants. There are a few restaurants at each park that offer pb&j, the others do not. If you could have most of your meals at the parks, that might be the solution.

Have you thought about renting a home away from home studio at maybe OKW. Sunday through Thursday in off season they run less than $100 per night if you rent them from a vacation club member, and they come with a microwave and mini-fridge. Then you could cook some mac and cheese if you want. You can check on the Disney Vacation Club boards if that interests you.

My kids have multiple food allergies. That is one of the reasons we rent a villa or condo offsite with a full kitchen. I would skip the PC food court if I were in your situation. If I did go, I would wipe down the tables myself.

One other note: Don't let your son eat the Mickey ear ice cream bars. They don't have a nut warning, but they did give my son hives last time we were there.

MY DS has a peanut allergy and we have eaten in the food courts at ASMO & POR many times with no problem. Thats not to say there will never be any traces of peanuts laying around anywhere, but I think the chances of coming in contact that way are extremely slim.
He has also had many Mickey bars with no problem. There were definitely no peanuts in the ones hes had.
Good luck and dont worry yourself too much. Just carry the epi pen and try to be careful. Dont let it ruin your fun. :D

While I haven't stayed at PC yet (9 days to go), I have stayed at the other value resorts. They all offer the Uncrustables, which come prepackaged. AS a matter of fact, the coworker who's going with me is now addicted to the things because of WDW.

Just take the same precautions you do while eating out...but I think that the peanut butter sandwiches they offer there are the packaged kind.

If you have a concern, perhaps you can call 407-wdw-dine? They may be able to refer you to the chef in charge of PC. At the very least, it will give you peace of mind.

Enjoy your trip!

Suzanne
