That is a fact, isn't it!

So, when will Rick be back?

I got into this way late but I just wanted to say that I hope you're having a wonderful trip Rick and all your plans are going off without a hitch (and you get that upgrade too ;) ). Your story made ME misty and I'm not the one getting the ring. :D

I'm eagerly awaiting a trip report! I think your idea is just so adorable. ::yes:: :) :)

Good Morning Rick....I hope you and Joe had a magical Vacation....

Can't wait to hear about it.....maybe you could write a trip report that could be posted during the lull between the ones by Delswife...(After you have finished yours...you must go read hers)

Love Ya, Mean it...ZW

I'm not too sure of the details, but if you stay at the Grand Floridian you can order room service from Victoria and Albert restaurant. It's very expensive, however, I understand, very good and you'd have the privacy of being in your room. Not that I'm suggesting that you "hide", just you might feel more comfortable for your special ocassion. When we were there last summer it was my son's birthday and everywhere we went they made a big deal out of it. They'd announce to the restaurant that we're celebrating Prince Stephan's birthday, then everyone would clap, or sing Happy Birthday, or whatever. After the second day of this he didn't want to wear his Birthday Boy badge anymore because all the fuss was embarassing for him. I've seen newlyweds wear special mouse ears and get special treatment as well. I really don't know what they do for an anniversary. However, if they make a to do as for other family celebrations, you might feel uncomfortable. I'd really enjoy a special V&A room service dinner if I could afford it. Oh, and congratulations on your anniversary, may you have many more!

Hi all, we're back!

We had an absolutely great time during our vacation and are NOT happy to be home. In fact, I'm downright in the post-Disney blues right now and am struggling with being in the real world. It blows!

But the vacation was terrific and we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was pretty cloudy on the first day, but the remaining 8 days were in the mid 80's with nary a cloud to be seen! I've never been to WDW when the weather was so perfect!

And on and on and on (full trip report to come later).... but best of all, the night I gave Joe the ring was amazing! We checked in at 3pm and our room was ready. The girl had looked at the two of us and gave us a cheery smile and said, "I assume you two gentlemen don't want a king size bed of course!" And I chuckled and said, "Actually, if that's what the room has, we'd prefer it." To which she got a bit flustered and a little uncomfortable at her faux paus. Couldn't help but laugh a little at the situation. We did our best to let her know we knew it was an honest mistake and she didn't mean any harm.

Anyway, we went to our room (5308) and we were completely floored. I had assumed that because of the Fairytale Package and that we had requested a standard view, we'd get something merely nice, NOT spectacular. Was I ever wrong! It was a corner room with a king size bed. The balcony overlooked the rose garden courtyard but best of all, becuase it was on the 5th floor, we had a full view of Spaceship Earth!

We quickly unpacked and put on shorts and t-shirts and decided to do a little exploring which led to walking about Epcot itself. After wandering the resort and the World Showcase, we went to San Angel Inn in Mexico for our PS at 5:30pm. We had a nice dinner and because it was earlier in the evening, it was relatively quiet.

After dinner, we strolled back through the Showcase. As we walked out of the back entrance, International Gateway, the lights started popping on around the lagoon. It was such a nice way to end our first day.

Strolling back to the Boardwalk, we checked out the restaurants and shops. Watched the jugglers and performers. It was sensation overload but we enjoyed it tremendously.

We went up to our room and lo! we found that a chocolate picture frame with a white chocolate "picture" of the Boardwalk on a platter, surrounded by chocolate truffles, had been left in the room! Compliments of the Boardwalk staff!

We showered and changed. Joe, of course, popping truffels happily the entire time.

We put on our party duds and went down to the lobby lounge (can't remember the name of it now) and met up with an old friend of Joe's and his wife. Had a couple of drinks and noticed they were noticing me keep checking my watch. (I had requested some chocolate covered strawberries and desert items be delivered by 9pm). Believe me, as I watched the minute hand tick down, my heart kept doing a little flutter.

When 8:45 came, I told Joe that I had forgotten our camera and was going to go up and get it. I ran over to pay for all the drinks without anyone the wiser. Boogied upstairs and saw by the room clock it was 8:50pm. No food. No strawberries. I paced and waited. No food. No nada. Kept waiting. 9:05pm. Zilch. I knew Joe was going to wonder what was taking so long. He knew going up to the room and grabbing the camera would take no more than 5-10 minutes and I was already gone for more than 20.

Paced some more then just grumbled. Called room service and they assured me everything was on it's way.

The fireworks were about to start at Illuminations and I really wanted everything to coincide with them. So I tossed my costume back in the closet (didn't want to answer the door and find the roomservice guy standing there while I was dressed up as Prince Charming). I grabbed the ringbox and shoved it in my pocket and I called Joe on his cel.

When he picked up, he said "What's taking so long?" I immediately went into "crabby mode" and said "I can't find the stupid camera, can you come up?"

He arrived at, of course, the EXACT moment the food did. He came in, totally confused and I could feel myself getting all flushed. He kept saying, "What's going on? What's this for? Why did you order this? What's up? What are you doing?" And the entire time, the room service guy kept chuckling and snickering and stealing glances my way.

When everything was set up and the gentleman had left, I held Joe's hand and said, "We've been together for 13 years and I wanted to do something special for our anniversary. We're at my favorite place in the world, the Happiest Place on Earth, and I would never be happy unless you were by my side to enjoy it. We've been talking about having a ceremony on our 15th anniversary so I figured if we were going to make it that formal, then I wanted to make this as traditional as we possibly can. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Would you please marry me?" Mind you my voice was choked and I stammered a few times. But I got it all out.

And Joe was floored. He still kept saying "What are you doing? What is this? I don't understand." Over and over and over again, WHILE he took the ring and put it on his finger and admired it and started muttering "What's going on?" He was so confused he didn't even let me put the ring on his finger. He was too busy staring at it with eyes as round as saucers. But it was a perfect fit.

And then the best Disney moment. The Illumination fireworks went off. We were standing on the balcony and they just shot up into the sky. I couldn't have asked for better timing. We both stopped and just watched and held hands. Neither of us said a word.

And when they were over, Joe looked at me and said, "I've spent the last 13 years with you because I love you. Of course I'll spend the rest of our lives together."

Then a knock on the door revealed a small group of friends. They poured into the room. We ate the sweets, deserts and strawberries, toasted with champagne. Everyone was in high spirits.

We ended up at Pleasure Island and danced, drank and had a great time. And I looked over at Joe on several occassions and saw him looking at the ring with a little smile on his face. And then he'd look up at me. And we'd smile a little more. I knew it was going to be the best vacation at Disney World we'd ever had.

Keep your eyes peeled in a few days for the first installment of my trip report! Especially for the second part of my surprise for Joe when he finally gets to see the Prince Charming costume!:sunny:
