LOLOL!!!!!:p

I do in fact. But one is married with two of the prettiest, yet evilest, little girls in the world. The other is happily living with his girlfriend.

Oh Well it was worth a try:)
Much happiness to you and your partner;)

Note to self: When reading the boards at work, close office door. Otherwise, others might hear your wistful sighs. Your beau is incredibly lucky... um, I don't suppose either of you has a brother?

Anyway, your missive really moved me on several levels. First of all, I've always, always, always wanted to go to Disney World, one of my favorite places, with someone special. So right off the bat, you’re livin' the dream, as they say. but to celebrate so special an occasion with that someone while on vacation at the happiest place on earth? Well, my friends, all I can say is: "Jackpot! Close the doors, we have a winner!"

I also have to say how incredibly thrilled I was by the warm reaction your post got on the boards. You know, sometimes, the world's more negative aspects get to me... as they do to us all. We turn to Disney, and, by extension, these boards, for a little time away from all the nastiness. My best friend, with whom I share an office, can always tell when I'm on the boards or making plans for my next trip. He, being a non-Disney fan, looks over and says, "Someone's in his happy place." Apparantly, I get a dazed, faraway look in my eyes, and a subtle yet always present smile. So to see the overwhelming support your post received... well, it just sort of furthered my belief in the basic feeling of goodwill toward everyone which eminates from Disney and these boards.

I hope someday that I'm lucky enough to find a "Joe" of my own.

My heartfelt congratulations, and I, alone with so many other posters, look forward to hearing how this special occasion unfolds.

Richard

PS: It's also a nice feeling to know that I'm not "alone." :)

I am so jealous of Joe! Although the talk of marriage was started between me and DH, I didn't get engaged until a month after we got back. I think ANYWHERE you decide to do it will be incredibly romantic, and even if it were outside a bathroom, he will remember it as the most special moment for the rest of his life. However, if I was choosing where I was going to be given a ring by my sweetie, I would say on a beach, in the moonlite. I know when we were there last, we were walking along the path from YC/BC to Epcot, and on the beach over looking the lake...looking at the Boardwalk, it was so pretty, and so quiet, even though the excitement of WDW was just a few 100 yards away. Maybe after you do it, you can go for a nice dinner somewhere at Epcot to celebrate, then watch Illuminations together.

Good luck.

BTW - the ring sounds absolutely beautiful!!

So I am hoping this is the beginning of the next level of our relationship. So not only do I want to surprise him with a celebration of our 13th, I really want to ask him to be my partner for the rest of our lives, to "marry" me for lack of better words.

Sigh. How romaaantic (insert fluttering, singing birds). You truly are a kind, sweet man for working so hard to make this so special for your SO. The ring sounds beautiful, too. My DH is ALL Irish (heaven help us all) and very proud of it-- he would ADORE such a bauble.

We were at WDW in June, and I have to agree with some of the other posters who say you should try Jiko-- it has some darker, more romantic tables and it was the most quiet place we ate. The food is very unique and delicious. NOT that I mean you should replace V&A's with that, but you two will have to eat dinner more than once while you're there, right? :D

Have so much fun-- and you MUST write us a trip report when you get back.

I think one of the most romantic things in the world is the walk from the Y&B Club to Epcot, where you go down the path to the right, and the music is piped in through the flowers, and the water is on your right. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? The lagoon is so pretty, and if it's cool enough, you might want to take the long way around from the Boardwalk.

Have a great trip!

PS I went for my birthday (YC), and Anna, the girl at the check-in, tried to upgrade us (we didn't ask), but apologized since she couldn't for our entire stay and we didn't want to move mid-trip. I also got a special delivery birthday card from Mickey & Minnie and balloons. I'm sure they made note of your special occasion. My birthday was noted in my reservation, and Anna immediately noticed and said, "happy birthday!"

The ring sounds beautifull full of such meaning! Joe is very lucky indeed!!Please, please, please write a trip report when you come back I for one will be eagerly awaiting it!!!:D

Rick,
How wonderful for you and Joe. I too am so glad to see the wonderful support you are receiving from this board as well. I too live in a very nontraditional situation, let's just call it Will and Grace in every possible aspect ....except I am a VERY chubby Grace and don't have her awesome job...... and we will be in the World in just 85 days.....we love it!!!! Will and I have been *together* for 14 years and I would love to do something wonderful for him as well, but not quite romantic. What an inspiration this thread had been for me as well. I received a beautiful diamond ring from Will on Christmas but there were no "Will you marry me's" attached, but I think it means "Hey can we be best friends forever?" One never knows what ol Will is thinking at times...anyway you have inspired me to do something wonderful for my very best friend in the world. Thanks!!! Soul mates are not an easy thing to find...but it looks as though you have done well for yourself and so has your bestfriend and and soul mate. Happiest of anniversarries and best of luck on the propsal!! I wish you much happiness.....and if you need a flower girl...I have ALWAYS wanted to be one!!!!
Best of Everything,
Will and Grace
aka Greg and Liz

P.S. We want a full report on your return and make sure we all get an invitation to this fabulous wedding!!!!

Thats sounds wonderful.I agree any place would be romantic at WDW.Joe is a lucky guy to have someone to care for him as much as you do.I hope everything turns out just the way you want it too. Please keep us posted and we definetly want a report when you return from your trip.
Best wishes to you and Joe:)

and I just wanted to add mine. After reading through all the posts I have to say that I am so happy to be a part of such a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental community of people!

I seem to recall something about horse drawn carriage rides somewhere on WDW property but not having done it myself and not remembering where I heard it, I could just be crazy. Anyhow, maybe someone here will know more about it.

Please post a trip report when you are back, this sounds like the makings of a beautiful love story and we, the nosey, want to hear how it turns out.

Good Luck and many Blessings to you both

Hi - If you are not afraid of heights, you could also consider a hot air balloon ride. I believe that some of them go over Disney property (if the winds are spreading pixie dust your way). I know that some of companies provide wedding balloon rides so I am sure that they could do something special for you complete with champagne. If you want links to some of the hot air balloon companies, just send me an email and I will be glad to send them to you. Also, congratulations on your loving relationship - May you make it to your golden anniversay and celebrate it too with the mouse. :D

Congratulations and I vote for the Breathless Cruise! You are a very considerate person and your partner is very lucky. Annmarie

Wow, I didn't realize you were a sensitive, romantic guy! Not the Rick I know on "Who the heck is the Tag Fairy" thread!!!! That guy sprinkles "stuff" all over Bill the dog!! HAHA.
I think Joe will love the Irish wedding ring. My hubby bought one for me on our first anniversary and to this day it is my favorite ring. Love, loyalty anf friendship. The most important things in a relationship. have a great time!!!! Hugs Pam:earsgirl:

You all are the best!

I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to post my original question so long ago. I am fully aware that Disney World is family vacation destination. And you know something? I am as guilty as anyone else for categorizing it as one that attracts predominantly middle-america, heterosexual, and (please don't flame me) rather closed minded folks.

I am sufficiently proven wrong. And happily so. It never occurred to me that I would receive so many congratulations! And I'm pooling all the suggestions everyone is tossing my way and picking and choosing. Heck, why just do a single evening or one day of romance anyway? We're going to be there for 9 long days and nights so why not create a bit of love, romance and pixie dust the entire time?

I did have one idea that is going to sound incredibly corny even to me. When I said it out loud, I myself even groaned and rolled my eyes. But I can't seem to put it aside.

So here it is: We'll be there for MNSSHP. Although we've been to Disney many many time in October, we've never participated in that particular celebration, putting it off to something just for kids. Now that I know so many adults enjoy it as well, we've talked about going.

I was thinking of finding a Prince Charming or Prince Adam style costume and wearing it. Why not? I'm 6'4" tall with thick black hair. Joe always tells me I look like a Disney prince anyway! LOL! Aint he a great guy?

Anyway, I thought, if I can find a suitable costume (highly, highly, highly doubtful. Trust me, I've looked). Anyway, if I can find one, I'd get down on bended knee, ring in hand. Nauseatingly corny eh? But hey, if it takes his breath away or makes him misty, yet all smiles, it'd be worth it 100%.

If anyone knows where I can find such duds, please let me know!

Add me to the "sighing" crowd! You are too incredibly sweet!! The prince costume is a GREAT idea - but I have absolutely no clue where to find a costume. (But can pretty much guarantee that someone here will!)

I've got to add my vote for the Breathless Cruise, but would also like to add that you might think of doing massages or something to that effect at the Grand Floridian spa. They have a whole men's "menu" that my husband drools over.

And one of the cheapest, most romantic things that we've ever done is cuddle up in a hammock at the Polynesian and watch the fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant. Just sitting and talking and enjoying the moment.

I hope you have a WONDERFUL time, and everything works out as planned!! Congratulations on your anniversary!

Since I just happen to know THE most fabulous seamstress in the world, we happen to have a joint business venture just for this purpose, And she happens to be a sucker for a love story. If you're really interested in doing this, let me know and I'll hook you up. you can PM me or email me: alxraven@msn.com. She works reasonably so it wouldn't be exorbitant.

Again, congratulations and many many blessings,
Lori

Have you checked your local town theatres? We've borrowed costumes form our theater before. Just an idea!!

I was very touched by your letter. Please know that while there are a lot of "jerks" out there they also act like jerks to everyone they cowardly think they can bully. Let it roll off your back if it happens because the rest of the guests have probably had a run in with one of them sometime during the day. I personally think the walk from the Inernational Gateway at Epcot around the Boardwalk is one of the most romantic, lovely places in all of WDW. Also the walk from the wedding pavilion around to the Grand Floridian is quite lovely. A favorite restaurant of mine is the Flying Fish right outside your door at the BWI. I wish you and your partner a great time and many, many more trips to WDW ahead of you.

I just saw this on another board and after looking at the website, I have to say that this sounds like it may be something cool for you. www.giftsofalifetime.com

They design special events (scavenger hunts was the example given) and they have a category for "I love You" events. You can tell them exactly what you want and they'll give you a free quote with two or three ideas for your gift.

Anyhow, it sounds incredibly fun!
