A Sensible Dinner - Pearlieq's Journal

Good morning Pearlieq! :cool1: Did you get some rain? Not us, it keeps going around and I think my lawn has become a dessert.

Isn't it funny how you can feed a DH less and the don't really notice it unless they "see" it? Have fun cutting back in other ways that your DH won't notice.

Keep up the great job! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

11:30am

--1 cup tomatoes
--7 slices cucumber
--3/4 cup Asian salad (with fried tortilla bits picked out)
--3/4 cup barbecue salad (with fried tortilla bits picked out)
--1/4 cup pasta salad
--2 oz chicken breast
--2 bites potato
--1 1/2 pieces parmesan foccacia
--2 mango coconut muffins
--8 slices canteloupe
--2 large slices honeydew
--1/2 cup soft serve
--1/4 cup cookie crumbs
--2 T. strawberry sauce

I think that's it. We went to Sweet Tomatoes for brunch and it was really good! I mostly stuck to plain fruits and veggies, but I had some of their Asian and barbecue salads and both were delicious. I had some bites of DH's potato, and some of the chicken out of his soup, and a little of the parmesan foccacia. The real standout, however, were the mango coconut muffins. They were truly amazing and I don't regret those calories a bit! I did go a little overboard with the ice cream, but oh well!

DH and I went on a 20 minute walk this morning. Not a marathon or anything, but good for a little exercise! Later we drove around and toured model houses (still looking for decorating ideas). DH set up a computer in the car with all of his MP3s, so it's fun to ride around and listen to music. He sang along with every song today, which is fine, expect DH couldn't carry a tune in a bucket! I kept my mouth shut, though, because he seemed to be having a good time.

4:30pm

--3 chicken strips
--2 servings reduced fat Pringles
--3 mini Snickers

9:30pm

--2 grilled cheese sandwiches
--2 servings pringles
--5 mini Snickers
--2 cups strawberry cheesecake ice cream

So the only thing that remotely qualifies as fruit or vegetable would be the strawberry sauce in the ice cream. :rolleyes1 Yeah, I went a little overboard here. The ice cream is actually really, really good. It tastes a lot like a premium ice cream, but has 160 calories for a 1/2 cup as opposed to 320. Which is all well and good if you eat 1/2 cup. Still working on that. Also, the Snickers experiment failed. I bought one of those 10-packs of minis, thinking I could just have one or two and save the rest for "later". Which, again, is all well and good until "later" turns into "5 minutes later". Won't be doing that again.

This wasn't a great day, but I don't feel so wracked with guilt. I'm ready to just move on.

You better hope DH doesn't read your journal :rotfl:

Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up those lovely walks :) I want to see Batman soon! Glad to hear DH loved it.

Good morning Pearlieq! :sunny:

Glad to see that you and your DH got a chance to go on a walk. I love those moments around here when they happen. Thankfully for my ears, my DH can sing really well. It sure is tough to ignore an out of tune DH, (I ignore an out of tune DD15), but it is much better to have them happy than not.

Keep on moving and losing the Disney way! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Don't you just love walking with your dh? I love walking with mine...we can talk, or just enjoy the view....get some exercise in and be energized when we get back to the house....man i love that!!!

ps, the muffins sounded really good :)

have a great weight loss day!
Jen :)

6/27/06

9:00am

--2 mini Snickers
--2 pieces italian bread
--1/2 T. butter
--1 LC lemon chicken
--1/2 cup peas

Not the best breakfast, but I can regroup. It was an interesting night. We tried letting the kitties sleep with us again. We actually made pretty cool beds for them--I took 2 laundry baskets, lined them with old towels, then slipped a pillow case over one half of the baskets. They now have a covered side and an open side. It must have worked, because they didn't come down with me in the morning. I think they're still sleeping there!

12:30pm

--6pc chicken nugget
--small order fries
--1 double cheeseburger
--8oz chocolate milk

4:00pm

--2 cups strawberry cheesecake ice cream
--1 LC lemon chicken
--1/2 cup peas

9:30pm

--2 hot dogs
--1/2 box macaroni & cheese
--4 brownies

This was a pretty bad day.

Just checking in. :flower:

I think you are absolutely right about moving on and not feeling guilty about your experiments. After all, we don't know what will work for us until we try. Now you know that you will just have to WALK to go get that SNICKERS when you really want it. ;)

Glad you found some good quality ice cream. I agree, keeping it to a treat size can be challenging, but I know you will get there.

Have fun with the rest of your day. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hi Pearlieq,

Hope that you having a most excellent day! I definitely understand what you mean about the Snickers, I had a bag of "fun" (I find irony there somewhere!) sized reese's cups, and I should have known better than to think I could take one here or there. After half a bag became dinner one night, I knew I needed to bring them into the office to get rid of them, oh well, best laid plans I guess! We all experiment, here's hoping we all find successes! :goodvibes

Bye for now,
Mike

Hi Pearlie,

I'm glad you found some ice cream. I need to abstain. I just can't control myself withice cream right now.

Keep up the great work, and the snickers are in the past.

Take care,
Beth

Good morning Pearlieq! :flower:

No rain here and the roofing still continues. The storms split around us again, but we did get a little wind. Ooooooo. That will help the baby Mojave in my yard. We may get hit today, but I don't know.

I really hope you had a good day yesterday and that today is even better. Remember to keep losing the Disney way! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Hi pearlieq! :wave2:

Stopping by to WISH you a wonderful day today! :sunny: I wish we had a Sweet Tomatoes here in the Cleveland area. ::yes:: We ate at the one in Orlando last December and it was soooo yummy! We had the blueberry muffins there and they were delicious! :goodvibes

Have a great day! :sunny:

6/28/05

8:30am

--2 pieces Italian bread
--4 T. light strawberry cream cheese
--2 brownies

Breakfast of champions...

12:30pm

--2 hot dogs
--1 LC potato & broccoli w/cheese
--2 brownies

OK, we're done with the brownies. Obviously buying those was a mistake.

4:30pm

--2 hot dogs
--1 1/2 cup strawberry cheesecake ice cream

7:00pm

--2 beef & cheddar sandwiches
--3 cheesesticks
--4 curly fries (I threw them away when I realized they were cold and icky. This is the one good thing I've done today).

Nearest I can figure, space aliens came and took me over for the day. I don't know what came over me, but I made some bad decisions. I've decided to stop, and I've gotten rid of all of not-so-great food that came into the house over the last couple of days. I'm not proud of this and I'm embarassed to have to record it, but all I can do now is move on. Tomorrow is another day, and another chance to do better!

Boy you gotta hate those aliens. They have been sneeking into my house for years. When you find a good exterminator let me know :rotfl2:

You have been doing great just try be carefull. I tend to completely fall off the wagon when I get the taste of to many sweets.

Keep smiling

Kristin

Good morning Pearlieq! :flower:

Consider the last few days as a lesson learned. For me, too much salt seems to bring about too much sweet and vice versa. Maybe you can replace the ice cream with an actual trip to get one ice cream treat when you really really want some. I've gotten rid of all the ice cream in our house (until DH brings it in, but he has gotten much better). Of course, it doesn't help that it has been so hot around here.

Hope today is a much better day for you. I know you can boot those aliens out! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

6/29/05 - I can do this, I can do this, I can do this

9:00am

--1 light 'n fit yogurt cup

Still kind of reeling from yesterday. It really was appalling, but it's in the past. I'm meeting DH for lunch today--I need to find some kind of light option. I'm thinking maybe Applebees--they have a light menu and I have a coupon.

I'm not sure how I'm going to fit in the gym today--maybe in the early afternoon. I have to take the kitties into the vet today--they've been getting sick a lot and I'm not sure what's wrong. Otherwise, I'm just going to try to stay productive and positive and get through the day!

11:00am

--1 light string cheese

--1:45pm

--12 frosted miniwheats biscuits
--1 LC peanut chicken
--1/2 cup peas

We rescheduled the vet visit for Friday so DH could be there, plus I was a little worried about how I was going to corall and transport both cats there. Diana got sick again a little while ago, so now I'm second-guessing myself. I guess if she looks bad later we'll take her in to the emergency center.

I think I'm going to cook a fritatta for dinner tonight. I've got barbecued chicken breast, asparagus, onion, and mozzarella for the filling. Hopefully it turns out good!

3:30pm

--1 bowl rice crispies
--1/4 cup raisins
--2/3 cup milk

6:30pm

--12 frosted mini wheats
--1 cup milk
--1 light 'n fit yogurt

DH is going to be late getting home and I'm hungry.

8:30pm

--2 cups sweet & sour chicken
--1 cup beef w/broccoli
--1 cup white rice
--2 crab rangoon

I didn't get to cooking my fritatta, so DH brought home Chinese. I was good, but I was so starving by the time he got home that I ate way too much of it. Still, today was better than yesterday, so I'll take it, I guess.

9:30pm

--1 chocolate sorbet bar

Hi Pearlie,

I am sorry to hear that your furbabies are sick. It is so hard when they are ill because they can't tell you what is wrong. Enjoy Applebee's tonight.
Take care,
Beth

8:30am

--12 mini wheats biscuits

Wow did we get a storm last night! It was actually the first time in a long time I was scared of the storm--normally I love them but this thing was very, very strong. The lightning was coming fast and furious and it was so bright and close it hurt my eyes--even from inside the house with window coverings! The house was shaking, there was hail, and I was just waiting for a window to shatter or all of us to end up in OZ!

I'm feeling a little better today. I really benefitted yesterday from not keeping junk in the house. I can't tell you how many times I went and prowled the kitchen yesterday, looking for something to snack on, only to leave empty-handed because we didn't have anything "good". I do so much better when I have to go out to get treats.

12:30pm

-- 1 1/2 cups beef w/broccoli
--3/4 cup rice

3:30pm

Curves!

6:30pm

--3 pieces bread
--1 spinach bisque
--1/2 chicken breast parmesan
--few bites DH chicken & potato
--3/4 cup linguine w/red sauce
--1/2 cup grilled veggies
--1/2 piece garlic bread
--1/2 large piece carrot cake

DH is off tomorrow and I should have a very slow day, so we went out to dinner to celebrate the end of the week. We tried an Italian grill by us--the food was very, very good and very rich. It was a wonderful meal, but I'm pretty full!

Good morning Pearlieq! :sunny:

Have you come back from Oz yet? :rotfl2: We did get some storms here as well, but I don't think they were quite as bad as yours. Although some things got blown around. Of course, I knew this would happen once they took those gutters off. Let's just hope I get some back on before the monsoons start (if we get any that is) ;) .

Looks like you did pretty good yesterday considering the stress from the sick cats. Having the junk out sure does make a difference. (I went looking yesterday as well, but didn't find much :cheer2: )

Have a wonderful day and hope the kitties are better soon. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

7/1/05 - Happy July!

10:00am

--1 light 'n fit yogurt cup

I've got a fritatta in the oven (barbecue chicken & asparagus. Yum!) but it won't be done for a while, which is just as well, since DH just got called in to work. Hopefully he'll be back in time for us to get some brunch before we have to wrangle the kitties off to the vet.

11:30am

--1 piece chicken/asparagus fritatta
--1/2 whole wheat English muffin
--2 t. peanut butter
--1/2 small can mandarin oranges

Well, we made it through the vet OK. My little girl cat, Diana, does NOT like to be picked up, and neither of them like car rides, so it's always a challenge and I always have to devise new ways of getting them into the carrier. Today I caught them both in the bathroom about 30 minutes before we were supposed to leave so I just shut them in there until it was time. I felt a little bad but they didn't seem to mind.

I got them into their carriers and into the car. They had to ride separately this time--they're just too big to fit in the same carrier anymore. We placed them so they could see each other and it was actually the best car ride we've ever taken. Usually they yowl and caterwaul and stamp and fuss, but today aside from from plaintive meowing they tolerated it pretty well.

Once we got to the vet's office, Magellan scrambled out of his carrier and launched himself on top of the cabinets. We had to get a stepstool to get him down. Diana didn't want to come out--I pretty much had to drag her. They checked them over and we talked about all of their habits, etc. The vet took blood, but he doesn't really know what's wrong. He doesn't think there's any kind of obstruction in their system (great news!) or any kind of infection (also great news!) but he can't pinpoint a cause. He took some blood and gave them some subcutaneous fluid, and he's going to call us tomorrow to check on them. In the meantime, we're supposed to take their food up tonight, then tomorrow morning we're supposed to give them some Pepcid and a small bit of low-residue canned food.

Hopefully that takes care of things. We've been in the habit of leaving dishes in the sink--never anything too bad, but in theory they could have gotten into something. So, everything goes directly in the dishwasher now. We've got to clean out their litter box and all as well. Hopefully they're better soon.

I'm going to wrap up work soon (yay!) and DH and I are going to have to get into some trouble. :teeth:
