A Salute to Food & Wine but Mostly Wine..12/21 FINAL THOUGHTS...a Solo Trip Adventure

I
The best thing I bought though... if you stop at one of the festival souvinier booths that sells the F&W shirts and stuff... they have Gift cards on little stretchy bracelets!!! I put $50 on it and walked around with it on my wrist, so I didn't have to dig for $$$. They said it's reloadable too, so I'm going to keep it to take on my next trip:thumbsup2

Paula

What an excellent idea! I will have to remember that for my next F&W trip.

Where did you book your Processional package? I am intrigued. Now that I have a December 2009 Trip to plan, I am full of questions. I will prepare you a list for your December trip. :lmao: You really should try to book WL. Did you end up calling?

I can't believe your trip is here! It seems like just a few days ago we were doing the 30 day dance!!

If you are taking requests, please try the Praline bread pudding with Bourbon Caramel Sauce at the Louisiana booth -- also, please watch the Boo to You parade during MNSSHP since I won't be seeing it this year! :rotfl: I could give lots more requests, but I won't be demanding. ;)

Did you switch to WL? I think that would be the PERFECT resort for Christmastime!

Thanks! Great tip! It sounds very convenient- much better than having to dig out $, which for some reason I never put back in my wallet

I got Rose & Crown for my candlelight processional. Wasn't my first choice but I'm ok with it. I forget when I called about it-- it was well after they started booking and the "top tier" restaurants (Le Cellier, San Angel, Chefs) were booked for the night I wanted (a Saturday night). The one thing I'm not wild about is that you have to eat before the processional. So I think my dinner is at 5pm.

I haven't called yet on WL. I'm debating. On one hand I really, really want to. On the other I have a 50-something $/night rate at Pop and I'm not sure it's financially responsible to indulge with deluxe 2x in one year. I sold myself on the 2nd trip by telling myself I'd go bargain. You can see how that's working out for me!

Will do. A bite for me; a bite for you. That way I only get 1/2 the calories! I haven't switched yet... debating for the financial reasons above AND those AKL pics on MickeyNicki's report are tempting. :rolleyes1 Plus when I look up availability online it says WL isn't available but very helpfully suggests AKL. But WL at Christmas is a powerful thought. This is your influence, CP!! Next thing you know I'll be considering CBR... which, now that I think about it, I did read a TR w/ some pictures yesterday that looked really nice! :sad2:

Yes, I guess I forgot to mention that resort-flipping can be contagious. :rolleyes1

Aren't those photos on MickeyNicki's just to die for??? I have almost picked up the phone twice this morning, but I am trying to hold steady for a little bit longer.

I am now doing a split stay in December. 2 nights as originally booked and...

... wait for it...

3 nights at AKL! I tried for WL but it is booked. The CM says it is VERY popular at Christmastime. So I'll just have to book it early when I go in 2009 to meet LL! ;)

I've never done a split stay so hopefully it all goes smoothly. I was able to get an AP rate on the room so it isn't rack rate at least but it also 'ain't' a value resort rate either. But I was getting nervous about Pop hearing about the size of the rooms, bus service etc. and wanted something a little more Christmas-y. And I may be turning into a deluxe snob. :rolleyes1 The DIS has created a monster!!!

WOO HOO!

Okay, let me be nosy, because lately I have been wondering if I should get APs partly because it would make it easier to go on a whim, and also because of the room discounts. What is your room rate? Do you mind me asking?

Don't mind at all. For a standard view (e.g. no animal view) room for 3 nights it is ~$150/night. I'm having heart palpitations thinking about it but it will be worth it!

As far as the AP goes there are other discounts to remember too -- discount at World of Disney, on backstage tours etc.

I've seen an analysis of the "break even" point for AP discounted rooms and I think it is ~4 nights at a deluxe? I'm looking for the info now... anything to enable someone else's addiction. ;)

$150 a night!!! That's cheaper than what I am paying at CBR -- of course I realize it is probably a different rate season, but still!

Please, if you do find the break even, do share. It may be the deciding factor. :rotfl:

Break even for a moderate resort is 6 nights and 3 nights for a deluxe stay!! Using an average discount of ~$87/night. I got this info from a Disney podcast. I can PM you the info; I don't think the mods like us to post info about other sites/shows on here.

That would be great! And thanks for finding that -- so if I am planning a seven-night stay at a deluxe, it almost makes the most financial sense to get an AP! :thumbsup2

And you can still do the dining plan with an AP, right?

I will forgive you for booking AKL since WL was full. I also have to tell DH this because I better be able to get my WL package for next year in December. Sigh. I really am very excited. I told Marc that you said you might try to swing a trip while we are there. Hehehe. ;)

Hey Christine,
are you still thinking about doing the DVC tour next week??? Awesome incentives going on there.... maybe now is the time!! :rolleyes1
Oh BTW, I think we were talking about it here...maybe another thread, I'm subscribed to way too many:rotfl: But I think you were involved in the discussion any way. The $100 GC for taking the DVC tour doesn't exist... at least not right now:sad1: BUT I got 3 free FP to anywhere that you have 4 days to use and there's free ice cream involved!! Was a nice relaxing break!

With becoming a deluxe snob...and all the upcoming trips.....

Paula

:lmao: I thought that, too. I may make it my b-day gift, although I won't be able to get it until we go down. Is that right? I know so little about APs except that I want one today. ;)

Would you just get one for yourself? I think in order to get the dining with the AP, that you have to have a package with at least a one day park ticket. Don't quote me on that but I think that is how it works.
