I am talking October 2010! :rotfl2: MAYBE YOU GUYS WILL GO BACK WITH THE KIDS!!

Duh, I knew that! Well, you just never know! I LOVED MNSSHP this past year. It was so much fun. We'll have to KIT and see!

Ok so why of ALL times is this happening!!! I was really quite calm about this flu. I thought it's in Mexico and people who have gotten it in the US have had mild cases. And then today i walk into my daycare and they tell me a baby has died of it. Here in the US. :scared:
Should we even be going to Disney World!!!?? I mean I was worried about the germs and everything before this even started. Now I am starting to do what they say not to do.... PANIC!

I had to leave Owen and Myles at school today and Owen was clinging to me and crying (which he never does) I was in tears by the time I got to my car. UGH, it is so hard sometimes.

The ironic thing is that after I drop them off, I take a T into Boston. I mean I probably have just as many chances of catching something like this during my normal commute as I do in Disney. I will practice CRAZY handwashing with me and the kids (wayne you need to too;)) I am sure we will be ok, it just is ONE more thing to make me worry about.

I wasn't worried about it either. It seems it more likely to kill those aged 25-45 though for some reason. I'm glad we're not flying and we're not staying on property. I was hoping there wouldn't be anyone staying in the condo we're in the week before us but I checked and there is.

Make sure you pack Alcohol based hand sanitzer. It's the only kind that will work with this virus.

Madeline is a thumb sucker so that's pretty much the only thing I'm worried about.

I am planing on wiping down the pack and play and I am bringing my own sheet. Its a hard age though- he puts his mouth on EVERYTHING!!

Do you think purell is alcohol based? I know I have that packed already!

It's funny you say this because i was just thinking how GLAD i am Owen has a Binky. I have a clip for disney so i dont have to worry about it falling!!
Can you wash her hands with a sanitizer if she sucks her thumb??

It is very freaky:scared1:especially when they say it was a 23 month old little boy (the same as my guy). It is sooo sad. I wasn't as worried about it until I heard that either. I don't think that you should put off your trip though I understand why you would begin to question it. It is scary out there but I know you are and will take extra precaution so try and relax. Pray for the best and hope that it doesn't happen to anyone again.

I'm a bit scared of this too. I'm hoping by the time we go they will chill out. I"m curious to see if the potential case in Orlando gets confirmed. I'm bringing clorox wipes, hand sanitizer and lysol with us. I might bring some masks for the plane too if things get worse. I have some put up already becuase of the bird flu scare. I figured better safe than sorry. Hopefully this is just isolated and people are sensationalizing.

I am worried about this too. There was an "unconfirmed" case in Orlando. All you can do is be careful, going to Disney or not. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh, WHY NOW???????

Also you have just as much risk getting it at home as you do at Disney World.

I looked at the CDC site a little while ago and as of 3:30 am there have been no more confirmed cases or deaths. I have a feeling a lot of these cases may just be the regular flu.

That's good to hear. I tend to kind of shut the news off when these kinds of things are going on which is probably not the best idea:rolleyes1 If I prentend it's not there, maybe it will go away.

True about being at risk anywhere. We're going to play group this morning and I will be handing out hand sanitizer squirts!

My mom is a nurse and she gave me the idea to call my pedi and just tell them that we are going on a plane and to Disney. I want to just make sure I don't need to get them a 2nd dose of the flu shot or anything to be extra safe!! Wayne and I both got the flu shot this year and both kids got it too- so I have heard that will protect you against this. I wonder if that baby that died had a flu shot!? I know it would be SO RARE that it would happen to never mind me, but anyone I know! The scary thing is that it could happen to anyone. (here or in Disney!) I told Wayne today I wish I could think more like him!!! He always has that strong feeling of "it will NOT happen to us" and I am the one that worries "what if"!!!!
Thinking of that mom that has just lost her 23 month old baby to this- just makes me sick to my stomach ... I just want to hold Owen and Myles and give them a million kisses right now and I am at work and I cant. UGH:scared:

I will when I get home:lovestruc

My mom asked last night if I was concerned. I said when I go to grocery store we could get it or any number of things. That's where DD caught scarlet fever at 4 and DS16 caught the chicken pox at 2. Just keep clean hands, try not to touch to many public surfaces and lots of hand washing; and for the time being you should not shake hands, hugs, or other PSA. (Be careful w/the hand sanitizer--not to over use**DD is a biology major and they were warned to try and not kill too many "good" bacteria.) and if you show any symptoms (esp. the little ones) go see the doctor, don't ride it out.

Just to eleborate on how things are spread: one of the tots I watch was dropped off Monday vomiting (had her picked up early), brought her back yesterday w. diarreha. So, I'm sure the other three of us is just a time bomb waiting, I have been disinfecting constantly.

Good luck! calm down and enjoy your Disney experience!!!!!

The news reports here in New Orleans are saying the flu shot that was given will not protect you against this one. I agree with your mom about calling the ped if it will help ease your concerns. All reports are conflicting, you just need to continue precautions you would normally take.

If I read the news article correctly that family was actually FROM Mexico and had come to Texas for whatever reason. It is definitely sad. I worry every day about something happening to Madeline. I'm the only person in the family that didn't get a flu shot this year. Getting another dose of the vaccine won't do anything since it's a different strain.

It seems that each time this flu is passed on to another person that it weakens.

WOW she was dropped off vommitting, sent home and the parents brought her back with diarrhea the next day. That doesn't seem very responsible!

The mom claims she was fine!! the night before and that morning. But, that her grandmother was sick Friday. She is here again today! The thing that gets me, is I have told this young girl so many times not to bring her here sick with DS2's condtion I try not to purposely expose him to things. Three weeks ago she brought her here with Indian Fire (i'm running out of Lysol)--this is the grandchild of my BF, so I never have the heart to say NO! what do you do...other than tell the mom and dad please...
