Just thought I would share that Dr. Nancy Snyderman is on the Today show right now taking calls about Swine Flu. I woman just called in and said that she and her family are planning a trip to Disney World in the next few weeks and wanted to know if she should get on a plane or not and travel to such a highly populated place. I held my breath and waited for her response. To my delight, she said "If it were me, I would go!" Wooooo hoooooo! Just something to make you (and me) feel better

found out this morning "swine flu" has hit Lafayette, LA(about 3 hr to my West). they are closing a school for a few days for it... a student just came back from Mexico...it's everywhere...like was discussed yesterday we just have to be extra careful and pay attention to our hands and surroundings

we'll all be fine; if I had to fly though I might consider the mask

THANK YOU!!!! I was just reading that Swine Flue Thread on here and it was making me so scared. Then I came on here and you calmed me down. I don't care about the money, I will cancel my trip if I am told that it would be bad for us to go. Or if I was putting my children at a higher risk but My childrens pedi tells me to go! It would be crazy if our Dr. is saying to go and i cancel because all these people on that thread are freaking me out.

This will probably be the best time to go. I would think more people than usual will be using purell like crazy! Even Disney will probably be taking much higher measures at sanitizing. AND maybe lots of people will be scared and NOT go! I wonder if UG has adjusted their numbers because of this.

I would think in the very least local traffic will be way down and I would think there wouldn't be any local school field trips like there often is this time of year. I'll be careful but I'm still going and hoping for lower crowds.

Another friend of mine is going on the 19th and with an 8 Week OLd!!! And her pediatrician is telling her the same thing - GO!

LOL I dont even know what UG is for- I know its the touring prediction site- and they are saying the crowd levels are 8 and 9's during the whole time I am there! It is a 10 the week after xmas so they are predicted really high for May and nobody really knows why!

Seems to be all our days are in the 8 & 9's. When I called to book our townhouse today, the lady said May is their slow month and that traffic should not be bad! Go figure! Does someone out there know something that no one else knows???
I guess fast passes will be all our best friends.

Tonight I joked that I would buy masks and put some Mickey Stickers all over them so the kids can wear them on the plane and on the trip - what a memory for years from now to look back on huh!?

A friend of mine called me tonight and really helped me put things into perspective. A friend/coworker of hers lost her husband to a long battle of cancer. They actually had just gotten home from Mexico as well. (unrelated to this flu) Only a few people would go to the funeral because they were scared that they would catch this flu because she had been in Mexico. My friend went and thought- if this was me and I just lost my husband, I would want my friends around. She went all knowing that if her friend did end up getting this flu that she could get it too, but they would be treated and they would be ok. I am not sure if this even makes sense to anyone else, but to me, it has helped. We only live once. My family has spent the last 2 years planning for this trip and saving for it. We have Disney Nights to celebrate every Friday and my son goes to bed every night looking at his "Guide to the Magic" and picking 3 rides for us to read to him about and when they wake up, we go right to the countdown calendar that had 65 Mickey Heads and now has 5!! - I have called their Dr. and she says to go... I checked "WHO" and "CDC" - no ban on travel. I have to trust these people and go. I am not reading that crazy thread on these boards anymore.... it just causes panic not awareness (IMO).

So, here we are... 4 days to go (I am not counting today) and we are SO excited for our amazing trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth!!!!!!!!

Well put Nickie! I quit looking at that thread two days ago because it was freaking me out too. I am looking at cdc.gov for updates but not letting it affect my trip anymore. The boys are too stinkin' cute in those hats. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
