Howdy all!! :wave2: my family (hubby and two sons 4 and 6) and i will be staying at Portofino Bay in a deluxe, queen room. I've never stayed on site at Universal and in fact, haven't been there in years. I'd like to get a room with a nice view, so i'd like to get some thoughts on different rooms, floors and views that those of you who've stayed at Portofino have enjoyed and not enjoyed. I'd like to at least make a request for certain views and features up front with the hopes that i'll get what i want. OOOHHH!!! how about balconies? are there rooms with balconies? I KNOW the answers to my questions are on this board somewhere, but i can't find 'em so sorry to be a bother, but thanks in advance for all who answer! ;)

I'll be staying in a Queen Deluxe Room next week... let me just say.. I CAN'T WAIT!!

Okay, I was told that they were pretty sure all the Queen Deluxe Rooms are Pool view. I hope not, I'd really like a Bay view so I put in a request for it anyway. I'm sure someone else can tell you for sure. Last time I stayed, I was in Club Level but I had an awful view of this ball game people played in the dirt? I forgot the name..

Yes, there are rooms with balconies but I have no idea what rooms these are.

The rooms have recently all been refurbished and sound lovely.

There are some deluxe rooms that I know of in the West wing that have fabulous balconies and great views of the bay and the boat coming in.

They are part of the Villa Suites, but if the parlors are not being used, Portofino will use the deluxes as regular rooms.

We had the parlor with a King deluxe on one end and the queen deluxe on the other end. Both rooms had fabulous views and great balconies. The balcony on the King deluxe was covered and provided wonderful shade to sit in and people watch on the piazza and when the boat came in.

Just got back Mon. I had booked a standard bay view room and got a beautiful room on the east wing with a covered balcony. Room 1504. I couldn't have been more pleased.

The ball game played in the dirt is called Bocce. It's fun! Did you also have a view of the villa pool from your room?
There are deluxe rooms with all views at Portofino. The bay view would be my favorite. Room #3557 is a deluxe bayview with a beautiful balcony .:)

We have recieved adjoining deluxe rooms on the very end of the 3rd floor Villa Wing which was over 800' from the Club Lounge. The view was an occasionally mowed field. The rooms were the most quiet hotel rooms we have ever stayed in but the walk and the view sucked.

That is the room we had. Absolutely the best! I have requested it again (along with the parlor attached to it and the other king room) for Thanksgiving, but no guarantees yet.

We stayed at Portofino Bay in January in a deluxe room with two queens with a Bay View - LOVED it. We could see the water taxi coming!

We also had a deluxe room once with a terrace overlooking the Villa Pool. This, too, was a great room. However, if given a choice, I would choose the Deluxe Bay View room.

Have fun. Portofino Bay is beautiful.

I just got back today and had a deluxe room with a nice view of the Villa pool - room 2392. It was very quiet. We really liked it.

I would definitely request a lagoon view, and especially one with a balcony, if you are lucky enough to get one, but the views on the lagoon side are by far the only way to go at the Port., I would also suggest the higher up the better, top floor preferably for they have the best balconies and you will have a truely awesome view of the IOA lighthouse, when that is going at night the view is TERRIFIC. I prefer the RP views for they are closer to IOA but the best rooms on the property are at the Port., with the balconies, if the RP had balconies I think my opinion would be different, but the balconies at the Port are soooooo cool.
