Day 4: Tuesday
It really shocks me to think this will already be our third wedding anniversary!
It feels like just yesterday that I woke up as the sun rose and sat down for a good ten minutes meditating on how I wanted to remember every moment of our special day. (I would recommend this to everyone, btw, who is getting married. Set aside 5 to 120 minutes to just clear your head and tell yourself that you WILL remember everything and will NOT stress. It worked for me. I still remember each and every moment.
)
Anyway, my plan is going to sound a little bit cheesy, I suppose .
but I hope to spend a few moments this morning as well in quiet contemplation. Perhaps on the balcony watching the day begin. Its become a ritual of mine, where I reflect on how blessed we are. See? Cheesy.
I will have a card ready for Mike, to read with his coffee. As a side note, Dear Reader, I must make a confession. Remember that Rolex that I was going to surprise Mike with at our special event? Yes .well, I am afraid I failed at keeping the secret for as long as I should have. In fact, just after the whole debacle with the private event thing, I just couldnt wait.
Was it romantic? No.
Was it funny? Oh yes.
Basically, heres how it went down: One Saturday, about a month ago, while out running errands I turned to him and said. Hey, want to go get a Rolex today? He laughed and shook his head, most likely with the thought I was joking. I continued: Come on, I only have another five hundred to pay on it, lets go pick it up!
The look on his face was priceless.
I dont think he thought I was telling the truth until the clerk at the jewelers greeted me by name and brought out his watch. Quite honestly, he seemed just a bit confused for a few days following that I had done it, but I think he likes it.
Of course, now that Ive gone and given him his present already, I have to get super creative with little ways to celebrate.
Lord knows I cannot afford another gift like that for a very, very long time. But you dont want to hear all about that, do you? You want to know our actual plans for the day!
Well, they start with a visit to the Animal Kingdom!
The last time I went to WDW was in September of 1998, just after AK opened. At that point, the only two rides of note were Countdown to Extinction and the Safari. Nothing else had really been built and Im pretty sure Asia didnt exist at all! I wasnt all that impressed with the park back then, though I wonder now if that wasnt because A) I didnt understand the parks purpose or B) It wasnt fully realized in scope. Hopefully this time around both of those issues will be long gone. We picked this park because we dont have a full day to tour due to our dinner plans so we will be arriving bright and early!
Now, my dilemma is this: do we run to Expedition Everest or to the Safaris? I feel as if we should get a FP for EE, then do a safari, but quite honestly, the last thing I want to do on our anniversary is fly from one end of the park to another!
If you were to take a chance and pick one or the other, which would you choose? Frankly, I want to spend most of our time in this park just admiring all the details, etc. Thats another thing, I have been looking at the crowd calendars for that day, and it puts AK at a 1.9 . which I suspect means I probably dont have to worry about rushing all that much but .
Thats probably enough for one post, well continue with Part 2 shortly.
