I want to thank all of you for your continued thoughts and prayers. The doctors will be taking my FIL inot surgery after a few days. They want to give his body time to get over the initial shock. They are hoping that in the surgery they will be able to stabalize his spine, though they did say that the x-rays are showing a break all the way through. He is still relying on life support to breathe for him but is awake and aware. He is able to recognize everybody and reply to questions w/ simple nods of his head. I did find out a bit more about the accident. He was at an intersection and had taken his belt off for a minute to reach across for something. While he was reaching he was struck in the front passenger wheel. His body was thrown across to the passenger side and he hit the window. When the EMS arrived they said he was not breathing. I find it to be a miracle he is still w/ us now! Again thank-you!

Thanks, Lissa, for the update. Continued good for your FIL, prayers anf good wishes both. Funny how that moment of unbuckled changed his life. I am so scared to EVER unbuckle.

My FIL has refused the surgery. He said he is ready to go. The machines will be turned off after his brother arrives! This is his decision but it is so hard to accept.

aunt lissa.... I will be praying for your family especially now... sounds like your FIL realizes he has a new home and will be going to a better place, take comfort in that. But this will be hard on the rest of the family, I will pray the entire family has the peace your FIL has with his decision.
