My mom has a free companion ticket and has invited me to go away for a weekend in Oct. We have narrowed it down to either New York or San Francisco. We have not been to either place. What would you recommend and why?

You should go to San Francisco. I am from the area and October is a beautiful time there. You can drive to Napa, which is only about 30 minutes away, and the grape leaves should be changing! It's gorgeous!

I have great memories of going to Fisherman's Wharf and Giradelli's as a kid.

The 49'ers, the weather, wine, wine, wine, wine....need I say more? Oh, wine tasing. Nappa Valley, wine.

I too prefer San Francisco. Many people would choose NYC(I'm kinda surprised at the response for SF). If you are into theater and big time museums, NYC is a good call(not that they don't have that in SF but not to the extent as NYC).

I like them both, actually my niece lives in San Francisco and I'm from NY. You can't lose with either.

Frankly, I say NY.... why? Yo, dere ain't no udder place ta GO!

New York is very dynamic, a go-go town, unique in many ways. San Francisco is also very unique, and even quaint in a way, hard to say for a big city, but it is. The Bay, the architecture, Sausilito, Muir Woods, Napa, and on and on. Given the choice, a hard one it is, I would go to San Francisco. Enjoy either way.

I've never been to SF and I'm sure it's absolutely gorgeous there, but I feel bad for NY, so I'll cast my vote there.


Besides, October in New York? That's baseball playoffs time, and the city will be ELECTRIC!!


(Even if you're not into baseball, it's still electric...especially if the ol' Metsies can pull it out and join our Bombers in the post season!! HA YA DOIN'!!)
