A Question for the Cat People - Vet Appt. Related

Hi All!

Well, I did call our vet back and told them that I wanted our little guy examined for fleas, worms, etc. even if they would not take the tests or vaccinate yet. Well I have an appt. for tomorrow afternoon and they want an...er...ummm....specimin. I guess I have never done this for Lily - if I did, I don't remember. So tell me...do I just take it out of the litter box all litter-covered. Or do I need it to be "clean?" If so, how do I get THAT???

Yup, just scoop it out of the litter box into a zip lock bag.

You should refrigerate it. I don't remember why, but I had to with my dog once when he was a puppy. I think it was so the worms didn't die or something like that.

I scoop it out and put it into aluminum foil.

It has to be relatively fresh. Rock-hard stool won't do.

Crossing my fingers here. The timing has to be "just right." We have confined the little guy to the powder room for the night and I will keep him in there until its time for the vet at 1:30 tomorrow. Because, you see, he is so very fast and good at hiding. I've GOT to keep him in one place until I can put him in the carrier.
Hope that he times "things" right...

Mmmm... I talk about and see poop all day. Doesn't bother me. I can have a snack while talking about the consistency of your cat's vomit , but I try to keep the food away from the actual specimens.
