A question about MYW ticket option with free DDP - add on days?

Hello, my first post on this side of the forum.

We am travelling from the UK next year and am looking for some advice please I see that there are some dates that offer free dining if you get a package with room and MYW tickets.

I see that you can add the 'no expiration' option to the MYW ticket option which would be useful because we can use them for a later visit. We will already have our tickets as we will be staying at PORR before going off on a disney cruise and have bought UK tickets as park of a package booked here.

I hear that extra days can be added to MYW, in resort, for $5 each - how many days, minimum, on the base ticket would I need to buy in the first place to be able to add these days. I hope this makes sense. Thank you for any help.

If you're not planning to use the tickets at all, you don't have to purchase the "no expiration" option. A ticket does not expire if it's unused. The only time it makes financial sense to pay for the "no expiration" option is if the tickets will cover more than one trip completely.

A MYW ticket can have a max of 10 days, total. No more. If you're getting the "free dining" package, your ticket purchase must be a minimum of 2 days per person. The max is 10 days. Beyond 5 days, each additional day is $10 + tax. (The $5 price was about 3 years ago.)

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, ask away! :)

Oh really, that is very helpful, thank you and saved me a lot of money. I quoted for 5 days so I guess this is why the ticket said it was coming up with a 5 day option.

If we visited in October 2013 with free dining (I am holding out on booking, LOL), would it still be valid 18 months later?? It would be completely unused and I assume it would get left on our KTTW and we just use that at a later date?

That is great, the $10 additional day sounds great and is excellent value for money but I guess we can add that on nearer to when we go and when we have finalised out plans. It was a while ago I read that it was $5 tho.

Thank you for your help.

In the UK we have to book a minimum of 5 days to get free dining - is the rule different in the US?

UK rules are different, they have longer than 10 day tickets. And free doing may require a longer ticket, I do not know about those. Unused MYW tickets are good forever. If your UK tickets are those type, it would be the same but you should definitely verify with your booking agent/TA in the UK.

Actually UK visitors can buy tickets for 14 or 21 days. 10 days is the max for US visitors.

UK visitors also have different dinning plans available to them then US. Check out the UK thread, they should have more specific information for you.

It's definitely true that the UK packages are different and have different rules. I had the impression that the OP was asking about "regular" MYW packages, not UK. She specifically mentioned that they had tickets they'd purchased through a UK package, and since she was intentionally coming to the US "side" to ask the questions, I assumed she was getting an "American" package. I thought the UK tickets were not called MYW, again, so I was thinking she was booking a regular package through Disney, not a UK package.

I may be wrong in how I read the OP, and it's good that she's gotten information for both scenarios.

Hiya again,

Yes - in the UK we have different tickets to the ones you get in the US. Who knows why.

Our 'Ultimate' tickets are available as 7, 14 or 21 days and they have unlimited hopping and water parks but they are only valid for 7, 14 or 21 days and expire that number of days after first use - whether you use them or not. It is hard to get MYW tickets in the UK to be honest.

For the last few years a 14 day ticket has been on offer for the price of 7. We are coming for 3 weeks so we have booked a 6 night stay at PORR with 21 day Ultimate ticket and this got us free dining and a $200 gift card. The tickets cost around £270 each ($450).

We are then going on the Fantasy for 7 nights, then onto Texas for a few nights but will stay at Disney for the end of our holiday so we will still have valid tickets and not 'need' the tickets for that Disney stay.

I have not booked the last few nights yet and the offer caught my eye today when I was looking on the US site and this prompted me to query the 'no expiration' option being added.

Can I give you an example of the offer booked through the US Site, I have priced it up:

With offer: Wilderness Lodge - 4 night stay, Bunk Room, 5 day MYW tickets gets you free DDP = cost $2681

or without the offer: WL - 4 night stay, Bunk Room and DDP = $3708

So it makes more sense to book a stay with free DDP, however, it would be great if we could actually use the MYW tickets for for a stay in 2014/15. I hope that it makes more sense now.

We are not coming until October 13 but I want to hang in there and wait to see if the offer comes up again next Spring or Summer and want to be sure I can actually use the tickets.

No, you did read it right. We need an extra Room & DDP stay as we are splitting our stay and Disney UK would not let us book one time and get a split stay in - even though we are off onto the Fantasy for a week inbetween too. :confused3

Sorry if I have made it difficult to understand. The UK booking side I understand but I want to be sure I can use the MYW tickets if I buy a package from the US site - I have no issue with buying more tickets to get free dining as long as I can use them sometime in the future. I did not know if they had to be used within 12 months, hence asking about no expiration.

I have said this will be the last time for a while, however....... this is our 6th visit and I said the same last time, and the time before that...... :rotfl: In all seriousness, these holidays cost us around £10,000 each time we come - we are on our 6th visit - 4 of those would be within 6 years. Which is actually quite disturbing.:eek::eek::eek: I could not imagine not having Disney to save for though. I am sure my kids would only spend it on Moshi Monsters.... have you heard of those??

If you are booking a U.S. package through the U.S. site the current free dining offer only requires a minimum 2 day MYW ticket. If never used to enter a park, that ticket will remain valid indefinitely; since it will be on your KTTW card, just don't mix it up with your other tickets and use by accident or you will have to purchase the No-Expiration option for it to remain valid beyond 14 days after first use. As other posters indicated, you can add up to a maximum of 10 days onto a MYW ticket with those first 5 days as the most expensive before it gets relatively cheap at ~$10/day. Again the minimum MYW ticket required currently for free dining is 2 days, the max you can have is 10 days.

However, will the system truly allow you to purchase a package through the U.S. site? I know Canadians who could not purchase through the U.S. site; once their info was entered it would not allow the transaction to complete. That was a few years ago so maybe the system has changed.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation!

Hiya, thank you for your good wishes. Reading this made me feel :dance3::dance3::dance3: It's still cheaper for the package anyhow - having the tickets would be a bonus and something we would not have to pay out for next time.

I am told I can order through the US website - however, if not, a friend knows a US TA so I can book it though her.

Now I just have to wait to see if they offer the date I want..... :hourglass
