I have the opportunity to become a consultant for Close to My Heart and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this company. It doesnt seem too bad but I am worried about suprises (hidden charges, things they dont tell you upfront). Also your feelings on the products. Any information would be great. Thanks in advance.:)

I love there products my firend is a consultant with them! I have no complaints

Hi! I wanted to let you know that I've been a CTMH consultant for going on seven years. I LOVE it! It's an amazing company, I've been very happy. Anything you read about becoming a consultant is true. There are no hidden costs with signing up, you can make your business what you want it to be. They have consultant only "business builders" that you can purchase for additional fees - but they are not required to be a consultant. The company is very friendly in terms of how much business you do. The minimum requirements are very easy to reach - I do it in just what I buy for myself.

If you want any specifics, just let me know! I'm mainly a hobbist, and being a consultant feeds my own addiction!

Love the company, love the products, really love all my fellow consultants!

Thank you (and aries1980) for the info. If you dont mind sharing, could you tell me about the minimum requirements? I havent read anything about that. Im kinda going thru info from a my friend. I am really excited and am so glad that you have positive reviews.

Any plans for them to come to the UK? Our choice is CM (I am a CMC) or the few selections in the local craft shops (very limited) or online (same products plus postage!)

gnbuggy - when you sign up, you are a "regular" consultant. The minimum is $300 a quarter, or $100 a month. However, if you don't meet those minimums, you can become a "hobby" consultant, and only sell $300 a year. That's it! There are lots of consultants that have shows a few times a week. Personally, I have a group of ten girls that joined my "club", and vowed to spend a minimum of $10 each month for ten months, and they each get a turn getting the hostess benefits. They never spend only $10, it's usually around $25-$50, depending on what they need. That way, I always reach my quarterly amount, and I have a great time getting together with them. Also, in having this club, I don't have to take time away from my family. But, you can do it anyway you want, the company does not have requirements on how many shows you have to do, or how many customers you have.

MazdaUK - while we don't sell directly to the UK YET, there are consultants there that either are military or diplomat wives. They can sell the products there, because they have APO addressess. Our website is www.closetomyheart.com and you can see our products on that. If you'd like information on a consultant local to you, send me a PM and I'll see what I can find for you! From what I understand from friends of mine in the UK, scrapbooking is slowly catching on over there - I bet in a few more months you'll have more product available to you - and you won't have to worry about the postage fees!

Twingle, thank you. That was info I was unable to get. I am signing up soon. This will be a second income for me, hopefully.:goodvibes

gnbunny-glad to help! I hope you enjoy yourself - I've had a blast these past few years. Best of all, we get new catalogs three times a year! :)

Just let me know if you have any additional questions - you can never have too much information!

Hi,

I love, love, love Close to my Heart! I make a lot of cards and I love the papers and cardstock and idea books. I have most only scrapped with CTMH stuff. I love the albums. I made albums one year for my mom, MIL, and my husband's grandma. They loved them.

I like the 9X9 size. It's different and you can do a lot of things with it.

JMHO

Glad you're becoming a consultant! I've been one for 2 years. While I don't make a lot of money (I use my profits for products) I've learned a lot of great stuff. I really like the fact that if you can't make your min. for a qtr($300) you drop down to Jr. consultant (instead of having to drop out or pay more money to reactivate). Jr. Consultants have to meet $100/yr to remain active. Once you've reached $300 in a qtr/ you're back to full consultant. You can sign up for your own website through CTMH and that's another sales opportunity. Plus now's a great time to sign up as you get the current promotion for free. I love the consultant bb - great place for getting and sharing ideas.

Have fun!

I am so excited. I got my kit last week, and cant believe the value. Even if I dont sell anything it was worth it. Did I mention that I had never worked with the CTMY products. My friend also signed up. She ended up signing as my downline. I am a little worried b/c she origanally called my upline first. Does my upline miss out on some sort of benifit if my friend didnt sign under her? :guilty:
A question for everybody...What are your fave products? And what do you think is a product that I cant live with out for a new consultant? Thanks

Welcome to the CTMH Family! You'll have a blast!

As far as fave products, I LOVE our papers - to the point that is how I "think". For example, I just bought my girls outfits that totally go with the new Sweet Harmony papers.

In regards to what products you need as a consultant just starting out, I would look at what type of business you are hoping to have. I purchase only what I am going to use on my own personal things, it keeps my costs down. If I have a customer that wants a certain product that I don't have, I ALWAYS offer to show them how to use it once they receive it.

The CTMH boards are always usefull - you'll get a ton of information on there!

Good luck with your business, but most of all HAVE FUN!

Thanks for the info. I have been lurking on the BB for CTMH. There is wonderful stuff on there.:goodvibes

My advice is don't buy too much too quickly. You'll end up with a bunch of stamps and paper you will never use! I would get a couple of alphabets -they are my best seller- when people see that you can spell out a name, word or sentence and see exactly where you're stamping, they fall in love with the alphs. You cannot do that with wood mounted stamps. I'd also get a couple of sentiment stamps if you'e making cards to demo.

The prisma glitter and the write and rub pen are great - I sell lots of these when I demo them.

I became a consultant after using the products one time. I had never even been to a show or a demo. They're just great products and I hope you have great success!
