My mum was cutting down a bush this week and noticed lots of tiny little black bugs on it. A few minutes later her leg started to itch and she saw she'd been bitten many times. The bites swelled up and she says they now look like fried eggs, very red in the "yolk part" with a paler red blotch around it. She also said her ankle swlled up so bad she couldn't see her heel (and she does yoga!)
This doesn't sound like an ordinary garden bug to me. I was bitten thousands of times in that garden as a child and that never happened to me. Are there any gardeners out there who know what this might have been and how to avoid it happening again? Mum says her ankle is almost back to normal now and the spots are dying down but she's worried about the dog getting bitten.
Thanks!
