A friend of mine from our church passed away about an hour ago. Don was a good man, one of the strongest Christians I have ever met. The world is a poorer place without him in it.
We shared more than just the same first name. About 6 months ago he had heard me play a blues harminica solo for church and he asked me if I could teach him how to play because he always loved the harmonica. Before we could begin the lessons, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer and surgery and chemo soon followed. Just two weeks ago I saw him, he said he felt weak, but the chemo seemed to be working and he was looking forward to beginning his lessons "as soon as he got his strength back". Sunday I heard the cancer had come back with a vengence and that he was not doing well. Tonight he is gone.
I would appreciate your prayers Don and his family. His wife Gloria is devastated. They had been married over 40 years.
