A place to grab bagel or fruit?

Hi, can you tell me where my family can get a quick breakfast at Fort Wilderness? Is there a general store or a snack bar, like the other resorts have?

I know that our cabin has a kitchen, but we're on the dining plan and was hoping we could get a quick breakfast before we head to the parks.

Yes

There are 2 general stores. One is in the center of the Campground at the Meadow/main pool area and the other is at the Settlement/Marina area. Both have some breakfast items. I would check what they have the day before and also see what their hours are for your visit. They may not open early.

You can get a better breakfast at the Trails End Buffeteria or in any of the parks. All have a bakery or somewhere to get a quick breakfast

Another option, although it would take a bit longer, is to take a bus, boat or walk to the Wilderness Lodge. Roaring Forks is a nice CS spot there with good quick breakfast options. From there you can either boat to MK or hit a bus to the other parks.

Meadow Trading Post opens at 8:00am & Settlement opens at 10:00am. Both close at 10:00pm. They sell bagels, english muffins, bread, donuts, cereal, milk, juice & usually apples & sometimes bananas. There are better fruit selections in the parks. You will want to make your purchases the night before so you have them in the cabin for the AM.

At Trail's End there is a bakery display with muffins and pasteries. Don't hold me to this, but I believe they open at 7:00am and closes at 10:00pm.

Deb- You were doing so well on this answer until you got to the Trail's End part. Since April, 2009 they have nothing to take out in the morning at Trail's end. No muffins, no pastries. Nothing.

The information about the trading posts is correct, though. But, so that no one is misled, the muffins, donuts, bagels, etc. at the Trading Posts are pre-packaged.

This thread is yet another reminder of how disappointing the food offerings at the Fort are. And so, for the 114th time this year, I just want to say: I wish Disney would put in a CS location at the Fort! I mean a REAL CS location like Roaring Forks...not the counter they opened at the pool. C'mon management...it would be a goldmine!! I know many campers cook their own meals...heck, I typically cook most of our meals when camping. But at Disney, there are many times I just want to go out and ENJOY, not cook.

Ok, off my little soapbox again. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

When I used to tent camp at the Fort, I would go most mornings to either the Contemporary, or Wilderness Lodge for my counter service breakfast before heading to the parks.

The boat that circles those resorts starts at 6:45 am. After grabbing my quick breakfast, I had plenty of time to get to the parks from those respective resorts.

We eat in the Cabin. I also wish they had better counterservice for breakfast and lunch. We stop at the store before we get to FW and buy some things. It is a pain when you are really excited to be at Disney but it is cheaper then buying the same thing at the Meadows, Trading Post or at the World.

I usually don't question facts presented by TCD, BUT, when we camped the weekend of 8/27 thru 8/30, there were pasteries at the T.E. display case - cookies too. I had to resist temptation and not buy a cookie to go along with my coffee.

That being said, about 6 weeks ago I sent an e-mail to WDW regarding the "red-headed stepchild" treatment of guests staying at FtW. The biggest part of my complaint was that there was no food court like every other resort in WDW, how the quality of the food has declined, and no full service restaurant like there used to be at Crockett's Tavern. At the end of my e-mail I stated that I was probably wasting my time sending the message as it would probably go no further than the automated response reply (which I did get).

Well, yesterday I received a call telling me that my concerns have been passed along to the proper management for discussion. I asked if I would hear anything further, and this gal repeated... "It has been passed along to the proper management for further discussion. WDW values the opinion of their guests." Which tells me this gal had no idea what my e-mail was about & that her job was to simply call people & tell them that their message was forwarded to the proper management. So....maybe if enough of us send messages to WDW regarding the lack of a food court, the decline of the food at T.E., whatever...we might see some changes that actually benefit guests and not involve more concrete!

Did you try to buy one of the alleged pastries or cookies? Maybe they were only available for purchase in the evening.

I will have to put this on my list of things to investigate on my next visit.

I am going to the Fort for this weekend (9/17 to 9/20). I'll let you know if they have anything in the case. I will take a picture of the case whether it's empty or full.

I love how the sign says "Breakfast Items" at the Meadow(s) Snack Bar - yet it opens at 11:00am & serves no breakfast items. How hard would it be to stick a frozen McMuffin in a microwave & serve it at 10:00am?? I know, Clif would have to come in an hour earlier and with all those sites sitting empty, Disney can't afford to pay an extra hour in overtime.

And, as Ftwildernessguy pointed out, even if there is stuff in the case, you still have to see if you can buy it. Could just be props.

And, what do you mean they don't serve breakfast at the Meadow(s) Snack Bar? What about the hot dog smothered with pulled pork and coleslaw? Breakfast of Champions! (gag)

Ya know....I never thought about plastic food. They make some pretty realistic looking plastic food these days. However, if they told me that I couldn't buy a cookie, I'd take it as an insult that I was too FAT to have a cookie, and not because it was a plastic cookie!
