A Pink Pixie Princess - Complete!

Looks like you had a great week of training! I have only ran 3 miles since 2/24 :( but recently restarted my regular workout so I'm feeling good about that. I was going to message to say I was going through ariel484 trip report withdrawal! Lol!
I can't wait to see Beauty and the beast! I read the spoiler :rolleyes1 You haven't seen Cinderella!! It is soooo good!!! You must!!! Promise!!! I haven't seen jungle book so I better get on it!!

Great job getting all the running in despite the stupid weather. What is up with blizzards in March? That's just so many different levels of wrong.

Belated Happy St. Patrick's Day! I celebrated by doing absolutely nothing. I'm not really big on my own holidays, so I definitely don't celebrate anyone else's holidays. But I hope you had a nice Irish day!

I love your dork pose! And that outfit is pretty awesome too.

I'll be back to talk Beauty and the Beast tomorrow. We're going to an 11:30 showing. I still haven't picked out my outfit yet ... but it probably won't be as cool as yours.
Also ... have you started Iron Fist? I'm one episode in and I'm not overly impressed yet ... but there are still 12 more episodes left to impress me.

I love the dancing flowers outfit!! Congrats on a successful week! I will be back to read your BATB take as soon as see it tomorrow tonight ;)
Thanks, me too! It has me thinking of spring...which is officially here but it still doesn't quite FEEL like it's here!

Have fun at the movie! :yay:

Eh, we all need a break every once in awhile! Plus...you had some health issues!! So I take it you are feeling better??

I have not seen Cinderella! I need to reserve it at the library or something!

Seriously, it's just cruel. Our winter wasn't that bad overall, so I feel like I shouldn't complain...but I still do. ;)

Yeah, I didn't do anything either. :confused3 My forefathers would be ashamed.
I love your dork pose! And that outfit is pretty awesome too.
Thanks! :rotfl2:

I'm sure your outfit will be very cool - hope you enjoy the movie!!

Oh no, that's not good! Honestly, Luke Cage was a total letdown for me so I'm not really all that hyped up to watch Iron First. But I know I probably should since I like Jessica Jones and Daredevil, which means I'll be watching the Defenders series whenever that starts. Mr. Ariel484 said he read that Iron First starts out a little slow, which matches up with what you're saying. I'll get to it at some point I guess. :confused3

Bonjour! Bonjour! Bonjour bonjour bonjour!

I sang this is my head... followed, of course, by "There goes the baker..." :music:

Love both your long run outfit and your movie outfit! Cute!

I reallllly loved the movie- I had high expectations and it definitely impressed me! And both Cinderella and the Jungle Book are worth watching, with the JB being better than Cindy, but BATB taking the cake.

This makes you a really cool person. ::yes::

See, I had LOW expectations. I saw the clip of "Belle" ahead of time and didn't like it all that much...and anything else I saw was just SO different from the animated version. But It was so good!

Adding Cindy and JB to my list!!

I love how you have a flat outfit pic for going to the movie. I had to wear a cardigan with small yellow stripes on it. Didn't let my Belle flag totally fly, but I knew why I had a lil yellow on. Hubby is colorblind so I doubt he noticed and hence could not make fun of me :) #dorksunite

So I agree that I really liked it more than I thought I would. The castle was just so gorgeous and I want to live in that East wing room! Since I assume Belle will move in with Beast to his room (growl!) then they can just let me live there. I did spot some auto-tuning on the singing and so kind of wished they had a powerhouse singer, but she wasn't a bad singer at all, just not so belty. I kind of like "belty" though. I did appreciate that they tied up some "plot holes" from the original. Like saying all the town people had a spell on them that they didn't remember the castle or prince. And also they took out "10 years we've been rusting" from the Be Our Guest number which took out the creepy "how old is the beast and how old was he when the spell was cast" weirdness of the original. Now it made more sense that they were more "suspended in time."
Maybe the Gaston thing with the Wolves was to make him seem way more villainy instead of just a misunderstood meathead. Like they needed you to want him to fall off that tower a little more? I dunno.
Either way, I want a talking teacup to hang out with me. That's the real lesson I learned.

Great job on Tink training week. I agree that I enjoy 6 mile runs too. It feels like a lot without it feeling like way too much.

And finally...cutest St. Patty dog ever!

Did you think it was weird that the Agatha/hag/enchantress lady was standing in the room with the rose during the transformation at the end. It felt weird to me.

Full disclosure - that picture was for a contest I entered from Happily Ever Tees. Was trying to win a Starbucks giftcard...I don't think I won. But yeah since I already had the picture and all I seem to post are pictures of myself in the driveway, occasionally with dog, I thought I'd just throw it in here. :)

Question about the East Wing - when they first take her to her new room, the camera sort of swoops around to, I think, show the details of the room - did that part seem crazy blurry to you?? I asked Mr. Ariel484 about it later and he was just like "YES, what was that??"

Totally agree with them tying up the plot holes...I had read that somewhere about how all of the villagers forgot about the prince and this was a good (easy) way to explain that. POTENTIALLY UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT: The biggest one that I think they did a better job of, but I'm not sure will ever be solved, is how they went from "mean beast"/"prisoner who wants to escape" to being in love. That's something that I don't think was depicted well in the original AT ALL and while I thought this one did a better job (bonding other their mothers, reading to one another, etc.), in the end it seemed more like it explained how they went from captor/prisoner to becoming friends...because I felt like at the end when she said she loved him I was still a little o_O about it. So maybe I didn't think Emma Watson and Dan Stevens had the greatest chemistry?

I also thought their explanation for his staffers becoming household objects in the curse was a good one - that they saw him becoming cruel and just let it happen, even though they themselves were not the cruel ones.

The Gaston thing still confuses me. I guess we are to believe that he was so crazy over Belle rejecting him that he decided to get all murder-y?
Did you think it was weird that the Agatha/hag/enchantress lady was standing in the room with the rose during the transformation at the end. It felt weird to me.
YES, super weird. Like...lady, this is a private moment, you don't need to stick around to watch them make out? I thought it was cool how she was more of a part of the story this time. I TOTALLY did not put it together that she was who she was when she helped Maurice after the aforementioned attempted murder. Mr. A called that one immediately...maybe I was just in a movie theater popcorn-induced stupor? :cloud9:

Nice job on your training week and playing around with those intervals. You know how I love to play with intervals. :D

I saw it this weekend too and absolutely loved it. Like you, I went in with some doubts about it and then was completely won over. In this live action /CGI thing, I found the Beast to seem far more human than the animated one did (that sounds weird right), but anyway, just felt easier to me to see the man behind the beast and thus the falling in love part seemed easier to accept. I adored Kevin Kline as her father. I liked the way they made his character seemingly less bumbling than the animated version. Plus, I just love Kevin Kline. I also noticed the auto tune use here and there, but not as much as I feared after hearing some reports about it. I thought Emma Watson made for a great Belle though and really embodied the spirit of the character too. I think Luke Evans is incredibly handsome, so it was hard for me to see him fall even though he totally needed to. ;)

Yes, the spinning camera work in the East Wing room was terrible. It felt blurry and pointless. I also agree the Be Our Guest was almost TOO much - but only almost. I still enjoyed it greatly. Loved the additional songs especially the one Emma sang in Paris. I thought the big "gay moment" that got so much press before hand was really overblown. Meh. In this day and age, do you really need to announce that you have a "gay moment" in a film. If you want to inject it then just let it speak for itself, ya know?

So, yeah, LOVED IT. It just made me feel really happy and not a lot of movies do that for me anymore. I want to see it again. And Disney is making a freaking FORTUNE!!!

Watch Cinderella!!! The costumes in that are eye-popping. If there was something I was disappointed in for BATB, it was that the costumes were a bit underwhelming.

I do know that you love those intervals! I am starting to like them more, too - I think my back is stronger and that is making it easier to handle going a little faster (which I gather is sort of the point of the short intervals?
Totally agree with your thoughts on the Beast! I thought he looked a little weird but I do remember there being a point in the second half where I could see, like you said, that he was more human. Also agree with your thoughts on Kevin Kline...this Maurice was more realistic than the animated Maurice, and better in my opinion.

OMG - the gay moment. I agree that Bill Condon was an idiot for handling it the way he did, but reading some of the threads on this board in response was just mind boggling. I typed and deleted many things here as I have many other thoughts on this but I'll just leave it at that since that wasn't what you were getting at. ;) But yeah, if I wasn't looking for it I would say it's a "blink and you missed it" moment. I also thought that it was interesting that LeFou became a "good guy" in the end. His character was very interesting and more of a real person than in the original, I thought.

The Paris scene was a nice addition. I teared up!

It totally made me feel happy. I kind of want to see it again in the theater, which is NOT what I was expecting. I am not a big movie person so...yeah I definitely liked it!

I do agree about the costuming. I did love Belle's yellow dress though, and the gold accessories.

I don't know how to do the spoiler alerts, hence my lack of commenting on BATB. But I could not agree more about the "GM" thing.
Hopefully this explanation makes sense - on the little toolbar where you can go to get the smiley faces...if you go to the right 1, that's insert picture. To the right one more is insert video. The next one to the right (looks sort of like a flag?) has the spoiler option. :)

I liked it, but not as much as the animated film. But I'm so in love with the original that it would have been hard to top it.
I thought Emma Watson was fantastic as Belle, but I actually didn't enjoy her singing voice.
Josh Gad as LeFou was comedic genius. Seriously.

I actually really loved Be Our Guest. I liked the spectacle. But I kinda felt like I should have been sitting in Mickey's PhilharMagic being sprayed by champagne. That was actually the one moment where I regretted not seeing the movie in 3D.
I may or may not have teared up a bit when they were dancing in the ballroom. And I really liked the yellow dress ... but I always like the yellow dress.

In terms of Gaston ... I liked the thing about him leaving Maurice for the wolves because it was what ended up being the start of the fracture between him and LeFou, which I liked. It kinda shoes you the difference between someone who is truly evil and someone who just gets caught up in bad things.

I really loved that they told us what happened to Belle's mother. That whole backstory was a nice thing to have. I wish we had seen more about Beast's parents too.

Overall, I liked most of the "new" stuff ... but I didn't like the new songs. They just didn't connect with me. But maybe that's just because I know the old songs so well.

Also ... watch Cinderella. I love that movie so much.

Yes, I'm feeling better, thanks! It wasn't my gallbladder after all but I've been seeing a cardiologist and she had me run with a heart monitor on. so far so good, just one more test and all is good!

Woo hoo!!! :D
Hooray! :yay:

Her singing voice is definitely...weak, I guess? I thought it was...fine. She's definitely not a powerhouse. I TOTALLY agree that Josh Gad's performance was genius. He was a total scene stealer!

I agree, where was the champagne spray?? I demand a refund. The ballroom scene was pretty perfect - I teared up a few times (then, the Paris scene and at the end when the last petal falls and the Beast dies for a minute).

That's a good point about Gaston - I'm still surprised that they took his villain-ness to the next level like that, but it did make for an interesting story!

I did like the new songs...I was totally thrown when the Beast got one though. I mean - I guess he SHOULD have one but at the same time, since he didn't in the original I was just like "whaaaaaat"

Weird!! I hope that they figure out what is going on soon! And am so glad that you are feeling better! :yay:

Strength Through Adversity

Wanted to post about this fundraiser that INKnBURN is doing:

This Strength through Adversity Tech Shirt Pre-Order came about when we heard what Loren Ollenburger was doing to raise money to fight Multiple Sclerosis. An inspiring father of 3, he was diagnosed with MS 12 years ago. This summer Loren and 17 other runners will be running nearly 200 miles each, spanning 7 days as part of the MS Run the US relay from LA to NY. To illustrate strength, we used a tree that has fought and won its battle against the elements and managed to thrive on a rocky cliff. We added an orange sky, the official color of MS as the backdrop. It is our hope that this shirt will help raise awareness of MS and honor all those who have fought and continue to fight this disease. 25% of the proceeds from each shirt sold will go to programs that MS Run the US supports.

This cost of this shirt is $5 more than their regular tech shirts...but this is a cause that is near and dear to my heart as my aunt (who is my godmother) suffers from MS. So of course, I bought one. :) It's a bonus that the shirt is pretty cool.

Happy Tuesday, everyone! :)

Hey GIRL!! First of all THANK YOU for the spoiler alert button things (how do you do that btw?) and secondly HAPPY ST PATRICK'S DAY!! It's a bit late but I was in Disneyland Paris so sorry not sorry! HAHA

Your training seems to be going really well! GO YOU! Tink is coming around so fast now!

I agree with lots of your thoughts on Beauty and the Beast!

My main complaint (this doesn't have to be under a spoiler tag either) is that the screen was too dark most of the time in the castle. With the amount of overly detailed gold objects and dark imagery, it just made me feel bleh!

In the toolbar where you can get the smileys...go to the smiley, then over 1 to the right (insert picture) then over 1 more t the right (insert video) and then over 1 more to the right, to the one that looks like a flag. That's where the spoiler button is!

Yeah, never apologize for being in a Disney Park!!

That's true! I know they wanted a sort of darker tone but when I went outside after the movie was done and was hit with sunlight, I was just like...MY EYES!! :faint:
