Love your medal displays! I have the same medal hanger (the Dream one) and it is starting to get a bit crowded. I'll probably need another one soon too - especially if I get into Dopey 2018!
Like Roxy Mama I'm on the fence about the Lotus shorts...probably going to wait it out a bit, maybe get them from URC whenever they get them. Love the Lotus pullover too but in GA I don't need a closet full of pullovers :upsidedow

Also, congrats (I guess) on the one year anniversary. It's crazy that it's been a year already. I'm so glad you are much better but hate that you still must fight some lingering effects. But, I do think it's good for you to remember how far you've come. You just ran a marathon, lady, oh yeah and a 5K and 10K and almost a full half... that's great progress.

You really have come so far, and even if you're not where you hoped to be, you'll get there. Sometimes progress is slower than you want it to be (and after everything I've been through with my knee, I understand how frustrating that is), but at the end of the day, if you work hard, you'll get to where you're supposed to be.

Awesome job on your recovery over the last year!
 
I love all your medals! We did the 2017 Dopey Challenge - aka the Grumpy 35.5 also. I also did the Goodyear 10k last August and am doing the Glass Slipper challenge in 5 weeks.
 

Oh my gosh I love your toes! I get a pedicure every one or two months to help keep my feet from looking too jacked up from running. And I always get at least two colors. There has been a time or two where the nail tech will assume a 12 year old girl had left the two neon colors she wanted on her nails behind and I have to say "no, those are for me!"

Those medals look great! I think I am going to attempt Dopey in 2018. How can one resist all that bling?!?

Yes, same size as in capris and tights. I saw posts from people on FB that ordered one size up from capris and tights, but I think if I did that they would be too big on me and would slide down. They do have a drawstring but I don't really like to use drawstrings (mostly because I hate untying the knot when I'm done). To me they feel like INB took a pair of capris and chopped them above the knee.

Haha thanks for the congrats? It was sort of a sobering realization because I really thought I would be totally "normal" at this point. Definitely need to focus on the positives!!

That is totally true about progress sometimes being slower. It's more motivation to be better about PT and core exercises, that's for sure!

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to make the pedicure a somewhat regular thing (every month or two like you said)! I have gotten them before but always felt like they weren't really worth the money and that I didn't really like the places I'd go to, but I liked this new place a lot. And the polish still looks perfect a little over a week later after running, so I think she did a way better job than the other places I had tried. :thumbsup2 The nail tech actually picked the design for me - I'm terrible at making decisions and had like 4 polish colors that I liked so I told her to just pick from those and do whatever. I really like what she picked out for me!
 
Princess Half Marathon Weekend Training!
Week 1 (1/16 - 1/22): 13 miles completed

MO: lifting/yoga
TU: 3-mile run
WE: 3-mile run
TH: lifting
FR: 3-mile run/yoga
SA: 4-mile run
SU: rest

Week 1 is in the books!

I am definitely feeling excited to get back to it! I think taking the rest of the week off after the marathon was totally the right call...I feel refreshed! :)

Monday was a funny day - my first day lifting in months. I was super cautious with the weights, starting them very low, so I used the very tiny-looking 5-lb dumbbells a lot. I probably looked ridiculous but at least I can say I didn’t overdo it on day 1! I also decided to try to incorporate planks more into my schedule with the hopes of building up to being able to do a 2-minute plank...hopefully this will help strengthen my weak core and keep my back happy! I'm starting off at 20-30 second planks (and struggling) so I've got a ways to go.

Somewhat running-related - I got this candle from Walter and Rosie today. They do Disney-related scents (my personal favorite is the Polynesian scent!). It doesn't smell like runners, thankfully ("Find the energy to make it across finish line with this citrus scent. Notes of orange and grapefruit are sweetened with pineapple.")...but I got suckered into it because it has a running-related label/name. My Official Candle Inspector (that's totally a thing) approves!

Tuesday was also a funny day. Despite the fact that I lifted what felt like toothpicks the day before at the gym, I was SORE today! :rotfl2: A humbling experience. But my first post-marathon run was a success! 3 miles on the treadmill and they felt pretty good - first run of Princess training complete! princess: After the run I did my back PT and some planks - 2x20 seconds of a forearm plank, and then forearm planks on the left and right sides. I guess I’ll just add like 5 seconds to these as I (hopefully) get stronger! Wednesday’s run was also, good...a little tougher than Tuesday’s, but not terrible. Thursday was more of the same with the tiny weights, just different exercises!

Friday's run was pretty good. We are having unseasonably warm weather here this weekend...today was in the mid-40s with very light drizzle and I totally overdressed for it. Oops!

Yoga was just okay that day. Not a teacher I normally go to and the series of poses just wasn't my favorite...it happens!

And Saturday was my first "long" run of training! I'm glad I decided to "start from scratch" so to speak with my long runs instead of just jumping right back up to, say...10 miles or whatever. Maybe I could handle it since I just did 26.2 two weeks ago (!!) but I think this way I get a mental break that was badly needed...and I think I'm still recovering a bit physically since I was dragging a bit at the end of this one! I did 4/1 intervals for this run and Friday's run, so I may drop back down to 3/1 starting next week.

Like I said above - unseasonable warmth this weekend! Mid-50s and sun in Ohio and January!! :banana:

This was my first run in my new shorts - the 6" Lotus shorts by INKnBURN. Basically they are like a pair of capris that were chopped off just above the knee, so they have that tighter fit compared to other running shorts.

So I did 4 miles in these shorts - no riding up and no chafing! :cool1: No chub rub!! By far the most comfortable shorts I have ever run in. The other thing I really love about these shorts, besides the fit, is that they have 2 pockets - I had my iPhone 6S in one pocket with a case on and it stayed put perfectly the entire time and didn't bother me at all. There's also a hidden drawstring. These are a serious contender for my Tink Half outfit! :scratchin I hope more of these shorts come out!!

And today - a whole lotta nothing, except for a little trip report updating! :teeth: Enjoy your Sunday!!

I love that you have an Official Candle Inspector. Everyone needs one of those in their lives. (I like to think that I'm my sister's official candle inspector, but I'm guessing Archie does a better job than I do ... that whole dog sense of smell thing)

I love the Lotus top & shorts (although it's kinda funny that it's a long-sleeve pullover and shorts, which you probably wouldn't really wear together)! I really like the idea of shorts that are more like capris, just shorter ... it's like the comfort level of capris, but for warmer weather. Plus, they're probably really good for layering in cold weather. These could definitely be useful - I'm glad they worked out for you!
I'm glad the running went fairly well this week - definitely sounds like the break after the marathon was exactly what you needed!

It's so funny being in the weight room with these guys who have, like, 45-lb dumbbells in each hand. And here I am with my 5-pounders!

Archie does do a great job...very thorough!

Yeah, I don't do the pullover + shorts combination myself! I like both pieces separately but I don't see myself ever wearing them together. :)

I'm so freaking weak in my core. I did just a straight 30 second plank and that was fine, but those side planks killed me. Gotta build up to those. Pathetic.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet on the Lotus shorts. I need to watch my spending a bit. :scared: Hoping they still have them in my size in a week or so. I also thought it was kind of strange to have the pullover with the shorts, but I figure I've got plenty of tanks and tees that will work with them. Everybody seems to love them on the Facebook page, so I hope they do more in this style.

I totally get being sore, even when the weights aren't that high. It happens to me every time I lift (which is not very often- which I why I'm always sore haha).

Trust me, the warm weather is gone. We had another warm-ish day yesterday and today we are in the 30s with a "wintry mix." :faint: Still, I will take it over some other winters we have had!

I'm the same way with lifting! I'm really into it for a couple of months, then take a couple of months off...vicious cycle.

So, I got sort of paranoid about it and was checking it out in the mirror for the items I have and just am not seeing any transparency issues, but I haven't bought any of the bottoms lately. Have you seen that problem any?

I have seen that problem, yes. I had a couple of times where Mr. A knew what underwear I had on...:eek: Then last summer (TMI!!) I decided to start going commando during my runs...problem solved! :rotfl2:

Seriously though, I don't know what the magic fix is. I know some people size up in stuff, but if I did that, I know the bottoms would slide down when I run, and that would be a pain. :confused3 I do feel like I have the right size soooo the change I made has addressed the issue for me! :teeth:

Yeah, my goal for 2017 is to spend less. I need to get a handle on my shopping problem, so I hear you on trying to be more frugal.

I couldn't pass up the St. Patrick's day pre-order though...I have been whining on Facebook since this time last year for them to make a Celtic knot pullover. Obviously the tank isn't a pullover but the art is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for! :)
