Great training week!! Well done on your runs and in getting back into the regular yoga routine. I hear you on the crazy weather. I ran on Thursday morning and it was in the upper 60s at 5 am. Ran in a t-shirt and skirt and then yesterday for our 15-miler, it was 27 degrees when we started at 7 AM. At least I didn't have to deal with wind and it was a beautiful, sunny day. Why can't I live somewhere that it's always in the low to mid 50s when I run? Does that place exist?
Thanks! Yeah, we're having another crazy swing this week - tomorrow we're having 60-degree temperatures again! So I'm changing my running schedule to take advantage, because the weekend looks nowhere near as nice...
I would love to live someone where it's always low-mid 50s for running weather...that would be perfect.

Your training looks like its going great! Keep up the good work--so glad your back is better!
Yuk for the blisters!
Thanks! Yeah, I don't know what is up with the blisters all of a sudden?! Very weird.
And man, ya'll have some cold weather up there! We ran this weekend in 40-50 degree weather with a north wind-I'm not complaining b/c I'll take that over 90-100% humidity any day of the week and twice on Sunday! It just makes me laugh b/c what we think is cold down here is mild for "you guys."
Yeah, it can get intense! I'm hoping that the REALLY bad weather will hold off for just a few more weeks...that would be perfect. And I agree, the crazy humidity is the worst!!
Thanks!
So, I just have to comment on this....of course you can't plan your outfits yet, who knows what InknBurn will put out before Marathon weekend?!?
Seriously great kits and club tops InB!!
Right?! You get me.
Weather ... grr.
Bringing everything just a good idea in general. There's no such thing as packing too much running clothing.
Exactly!

Some over-packing, yes - but I would rather be prepared for anything!
Yay for longer intervals! That's awesome!
But what is with all the blisters?? That's so weird.
I know, I really cannot explain it. All of my socks are in good shape, so it's not that...I really feel like something with my form/body has changed after this back stuff. Any time I have issues it is almost always on my left side now (the side with the nerve issue), and that's where the blisters are. It's interesting...but mostly annoying.
Awesome that you're back in yoga all the time! It's great that you can see the improvement in your handstands - even if it's still a little hard, any improvement is an amazing thing!
Yeah, now I just need to get over the part where I get "into" it and suddenly I think "oh sh!t what am I doing?!" and then I fall...
Definitely a win!
I'm glad you found an interval that seems to work well for you! It's definitely tough to drop down to a shorter running interval, but if that's what works ... go with it.
yeah, I sort of hate how "slow" it makes me feel, but I just need to get over myself at this point. 16:00/mile is the main goal and at least it keeps me under that!
Also ... "obnoxious wind" is the worst. I can handle cold, but sometimes the wind just does me in. Not a fan.
GAH, you're right. Maybe I need to amend my above statement - is obnoxious wind worse than humidity? It very well may be.
AHH! So close!! You're going to be a second-time Dopey finisher in a few weeks!
EEEEEK

Can't believe it's almost here!!
Thank you!
Regarding the sweater vest, I chose the cheapest shipping option - not sure why I got it so fast since it took over a week for my run run run shirt and the tracking said I would receive the sweater vest on 11/23. But I'm not complaining!
That's interesting. Sometimes I feel like USPS doing things quicker (since SmartPost uses USPS) but with FedEx they will hold it for extra days based on when it is "scheduled," even if it seems like you could just get it the next day. Annoying!
Yeah I've never know them to hand out the paper cups for free at the QS locations since that's what you buy for coffee from the spigguts/drink machines, so makes sense why they looked at you weird, but hopefully they explained instead of just being snippy CMs.
Yeah, I don't remember them being snippy, just very confused as to why I wanted cups. And then I got just one when I wanted 3-4...oh well! Now I know to pack my own.
I 100% agree that cold wind sucks, especially for long runs so awesome job!! I figure the wind is good resistance training if you manage to not freeze to death first
Ha, that's a good point about the resistance training! Seems like all of my non-windy runs should be simple now...SEEMS like it, anyway...
Yay for training and boo for blisters! Can you believe the crazy change in temperatures? I did a 5K with our youngest on Sunday and it was super cold! He's 9 and very tiny, but a cross country runner and always runs warm so we really didn't bundle him up enough. It was so cold that, at one point during the race, he put his hand up (he knows how to signal if he needs a walk break) stepped to the side and started to cry! So he can relate!
Oh no!! Your poor kiddo!
We are having ANOTHER temperature swing this week! Back up into the 50s/60s...woohoo!!
Funny about the race outfits, because you never know what we'll get for the race days. I've just decided to bring a base outfit with various matching layers - so I have tights, a long sleeve and arm warmers that I could put over/under each outfit if necessary. But my outfits aren't very creative in the first place (more "inspired by" with a themed bow in my hair than a costume) so that's easy to do. Also, lots of space blankets!
Yeah, I mean - last time I did Dopey we were in the 30s for the 5K and by the time it was marathon day, we were in the 60s I think. You just never know!!
I need to order some space blankets from
Amazon...
Also, college visit last month was great and we'd be thrilled if he ended up in the Cleveland area - it's literally at the very top of the list! We loved Cleveland - so many similarities to our own home city but with Playhouse Square!
Oh yay!!

Did you go inside any of the buildings at Playhouse Square? They are so beautiful!
Finally, love those tights!
Thanks!

They are the Miko tights...completely sold out, unfortunately.
Great job on the 16 miler!! Truly - that 16 mile training run, by yourself, in horrible conditions is way harder to get thru than 26.2 in glorious WDW! If you can do that you can do Dopey again!
Thanks! That run was truly a mental test. I am pleased that I didn't quit, because I REALLY was thinking about it!
We all know January in Florida can be anything from "pretty darn chilly" to "why oh why is it so freaking hot and humid in January!". SO have a few outfits lined up pending weather - with all your beautiful InB that shouldn't be a problem! And definitely bring the disposable coffee cups - I am all about having MY coffee before I leave the room. It's important
Yes, coffee is totally necessary! I am taking no more risks!
I am going to have to try to stuff all of my InB into a carry-on...I wonder how that will go??
Keep it up! I always find that about 6 weeks out is the toughest - still have more long runs on the calendar, the race still seems so far out, and you are just kinda getting tired of the training. Push through it and trust that the training will get you another Dopey medal!
I think you are onto something with the "6 weeks out" theory! I can totally relate to the long runs, getting a little sick of it, etc. Also, my appetite has been going crazy this week...constantly hungry. So annoying!!
Can I ask you whether you like running? I know that's a weird question but I took it up about 5 years ago (only 5k runs) and it took ALOT of willpower to go out for each run and I didn't really enjoy it that much, but I can't say why. I couldn't decide if I was rubbish at it because I hated it or I hated it because I was rubbish at it. (Best was 27.06 for 5k but wanted to vomit once it was over I worked so hard). Recently I've tried again (for weight management and cardio-vascular health) but again I really have to push myself to go out. I've been going three times a week and keep wondering if one day I will finally say 'wow - I love this'. What's your story?
So I saw that you posted this yesterday and I thought about it all night and this morning (while on the treadmill!). I am not sure if I can come up with a good/coherent answer - but overall I guess I would say that yes, I do like running. I don't think I completely love it like I did a couple of years ago, but most mornings I don't have to work hard to convince myself to drive to the gym and get on the treadmill. Some mornings, yes, but not all.
When I started, I hated it, but it began as a tool for me to help lose weight for my wedding - that alone wasn't enough, though, and I had to change my diet to actually get the results I wanted...but once the wedding was over, I stuck with the running. I'm honestly not sure if I would have if it weren't for runDisney races, though. For a few years I completely loved racing because I was getting faster, and it was fun to set new PRs, but I haven't done that for awhile now...
I think what keeps me doing it is runDisney races, the fact that I feel better when I am running regularly (cardiovascularly, keeps my weight in check, etc.) and it has become a stress reliever for me, a time where I can be by myself to just think. At this point it is a habit - the period where I couldn't run at the beginning of the year was very hard for me, and I did miss it. I have gotten to the point where I don't feel like myself if I am not running regularly.
Having said that, I don't think it is for everyone, and I think that is okay - if you don't like it, maybe you can try something else to stay in cardiovascular shape? Biking, swimming, zumba, etc.?
Sorry, I have no idea if this is helpful at all...I hope it is?
I'm obviously not Ariel484, but I did want to chime in since I think I know exactly how you're feeling. I really don't like running, but I also really don't like exercise in general. I choose running because I know it works in terms of weight management and it's free (races not included, obviously!). The thing is, I do actually kind of like the races. I like the atmosphere, the medals, tshirts, occasional free stuff, etc. I used to sign up for everything just to expand my medal collection and also to force myself to train. Until recently, I would never skip a race, so I knew I would force myself to train and therefore force myself to exercise! I have only gotten slightly faster over the few years that I've been running, and I've stopped caring about it. I think if I enjoyed it more I would actually get faster.
Recently, I've found myself kind of "getting over" the whole race thing. I don't have room for more tshirts, the medals are still cool but less special to me, and it's expensive! I am only going to sign up for things that I truly find to be fun. I may never run another half-marathon (definitely never a full again!) and I'm okay with that. The only real downside is finding the motivation to exercise more, but I'll figure it out. Or I'll just say @$!% it and accept that I'm old enough to not care about those extra 10lbs
I can relate to a lot of this...I would say I am over the races - local ones for sure. If it weren't for runDisney requiring proof of time, I'd probably be completely done with local races.
I used to feel like I needed another race on my calendar to stay motivated to run, but I'm not sure I need that anymore - I just feel better when I do it.
