A Photo Essay: New Orleans

A few shots taken around the museum. It was exceptionally crowded and hard to get many pictures. This was my favorite though. I was taking one of the ship and the gentleman walked into the frame. I think it made the picture.

Unbelievable shots Jeff! NO is one of the few cities that have not visited yet but always wanted too. Your shots only reassure that it is in our future vacation plans. Actually we will be visiting NO this August for the very first time. However I don't expect to get any decent shots from the inside of a SW 737.

Did not know there was a war museum in NOLA. DH is a former Marine, Desert Storm veteran. He will love going to check out the WWII museum. Just gave me more ammo as proof that we NEED to derail coming home and stop there ;). Thanks.

BTW, I think you are right with the photo where the older gentleman stepped in, he does make the picture. Anyone else would have probably taken away from the shot.

Glad you got to enjoy the D-Day Museum. It's one of our favorite places to visit. So easy to spend hours taking it all in. Keep the pictures coming!!

Thanks so much for the feedback all- I still have so many pictures to process I hope I am not boring everyone to tears by now. :)

Still one of my favorites of the whole trip- I reworked it last night in color. actually I overlayed the color over the black & white to get kind of a moody tone and did away with the mild crop from the first version.

One thing New Orleans certainly seemed to have no shortage of was interesting people. Here are a few from the trip that I thought stood out.

Street Music - I love he looks so comfortable in his surroundings.

Skater- This guy was zipping down Royal so fast I almost missed it. A little blurry but I like the energy.

Cowboys- This shot just cracked me up. Like these two guys just rode in on their tiny miniature horses for a hamburger. I had to wait ten minutes for them to get a break from all the girls wanting to pet the horses though so maybe I should not laugh too much- they may be on to something. ;)

Purple Hair Guy- Not sure if the mystic hair thing is working for this guy. He seemed to be one of the less busy forture tellers.

Gypsy on Jackson Square - I like the special pointy hat sitting in the empty 'customer' chair. Not sure if wearing it maybe facilitates her mind reading powers?

French Quarter Traffic Jam - This pretty much sums it up... a car tailgating a mule all being passed by a guy on a bicycle.

I, for one, am certainly not bored to tears. I like looking at your pictures and seeing your POV of things.

Jeff-

Once again, you've outdone yourself. Excellent images of a very interesting place to shoot. Thanks for sharing with the DIS photo community!

Beautiful pictures! I was in NOLA the end of January and will be heading back mid-July - you captured a great sense of the city!

(And the guys with the miniature horses - ran into them in January as well on Bourbon Street one evening.)

Stunning photos and so atmospheric looking forward to seeing more.

Hubs and I went to New Orleans on our honeymoon almost 29 years ago, and rarely missed a year of going back until just the last couple of years. We need to plan a trip, that's my happy place.

Thank you for the pictures.
