A packing tip if you drive

If you are driving to WDW and plan on stopping for an overnight on the way, pack a small suitacse with everything you'll need for the night for the entire family. That way you don't need to haul in your weeks worth of luggage for the one night.

I agree with packing an overnight bag, BUT I really do not feel comfortable with leaving my luggage in the car in the parking lot on some off-highway motel. It's an invitation for a broken window and stolen luggage.

Although, by the time we take in that bag, the laptop, and everyone's pillows (only three people with HOW many pillows !?!) , it looks like we're spending a week, not just the night !

We left our bags in the trunk. There is a switch in the trunk so you can disable being able to open it from the switch on the dash, you need the key. We used that option. Also because we left nothing in the passenger compartment (well, OK, a box of tissues, an atlas, etc., but nothing worth stealing) there was no indication that there was anything in the trunk.

I I had a minivan or SUV, I wouldn't leave everything in it though.

We also brought in the laptops, DVD player, and a tote bag with the binoculars, camera, and some personal documents.

We have always packed just what we needed for our stop on the way to WDW the first night separately. It just works out so well, and we never unload anything else, except the ice chest if we need it. I have never had my SUV broken into while on vacation, and have packed things in a waterproof bag that stores on the luggage rack. I can't think of what you call that thing. Anyway, I've never had anyone bother anything on top of my SUV, either. I guess we have just been lucky.
