A Overplanner's Pre-Trip Report

O.M.G. :scared1: Seriously?!? :furious: I don't think I could have contained myself - I'd have had to march my way in there and tell that lady *exactly* what I thought! "You can just reschedule." Oh yeah, reschedule THIS! :badpc:

 I'm mad for you (in case you couldn't tell). :p

Still no Mickey Mail? :confused3 Did the lady ever come to her senses about getting you the payroll info?

Have fun doing laundry (my favorite chore, too) :laundy: Ranks right up there with cleaning the bathroom. :crazy2:

Sending mass pixie dust for your ankle! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Oh yeah. I was ready to give her a piece of my mind. She really , really ticked me off.

Yeah, I'm hoping that it comes tomorrow. I'm on the short side of nervous and she won't be back in the office until Tuesday. :crazy2: This is cutting it very close. I like having all my ducks in a row way ahead of time and this isn't comfortable for me. LOL!! DH points out that I'm always like this. Yeah. And your point is? LOL!!

I'll be thinking good thoughts and keeping my fingers crossed that your MM arrives tomorrow! You're right, Tuesday would be cutting it super close!

Hopefully it will be in the mailbox tomorrow and then they'll be nothing to worry about! :hippie:

Thanks!! She sent it Priority mail and it went out on Wednesday so it should be here tomorrow. Tuesday by the latest. ::yes::

Well, first of all ....Yeah for 5 days! :cool1:

Secondly, here's my take on the office receptionist. I work in healthcare, so believe me, I have interacted with all types of people.

Some physician practices have terrible people in their office who have no customer skills whatsoever. It's disgusting. Unfortunately, what these providers don't realize is that someone WILL leave their practice if the office staff sucks. She was clearly not listening and should have apologized to both of you for her error.

On the other hand, having the office staff call and make an appointment for you really does help facilitate things. I can get our receptionist to get cardiology appointments for my patients that they can't get on their own. It is so helpful to me, as a provider, to know my patient know have an "in" to the other provider's practice.

So as inconvenient as it is for you, and as unprofessional as she was, your husband now has a connection with that practice and you should be able to reschedule easier for when you get back.

Still, I would ask to speak to the practice manager, because there should be one, and voice your concerns. Either that or address her a letter or email him/her directly. They will listen to your feedback.

OK - back to your trip. I hope the next 5 days fly by!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for your input! I guess if he would have gotten an I'm sorry then I wouldn't have been as upset. As it was, it seemed like she didn't care about the fact that she didn't listen. I've learned that a simple I'm sorry can work wonders with people. Trust me, I worked in customer service for a appliance seller and was forever smoothing things over for our salesmen. LOL!

It was just her general attitude. It was like she could have cared less. I'm appreciative for her calling for us, but it just seemed like she did it out of spite or something. I know that they are busy and that they have a lot on their plate, but it's not excuse for not apologizing. :confused3

He did call them back and got an appointment for the next week after our vacation.

Yay!! I can't wait for the next 5 days to go by!! LOL!! I'm very, very excited!!

That's why I think it would be smart of you to write a letter to their practice manager, especially if they are a practice associated with a hospital. Her attitude should be addressed. (Not like you don't have anything else to do right now - hah)

Sending lots of this pixiedust: your way! :)

This was my thought as well -- at least you have an "in", so rescheduling won't be as big a deal. But I would seriously consider finding another doctor. :sad2: Although MEK's suggestion of contacting someone "higher up" is probably the better approach -- switching doctors isn't going to improve the situation; letting them know why you're unhappy is a lot more productive. Even if it doesn't improve the situation for you and you end up switching doctors anyhow, at least then they'll know what the problem was and you may end up helping others by bringing it to their attention. :)

Still no Mickey Mail. :worried::worried: To say that I'm worried is a major understatement. Although I'm not 100% sure that the mail has come today. I think it has, but there was nothing in the mailbox when I checked a few minutes ago.

I'm just super worried that we won't get the documents and that will mess up our vacation. I'm seriously considering doing this myself next year. All this waiting for people to send stuff out to me is for the birds. I started crying after I went our to the mailbox and Chris and Mike are looking at me like I'm crazy. I can't help it. I'm just super worried about it not coming and that it will screw everything up....

Stupid mail. Stupid TA. Everything is stupid today.....:sad::sad::sad:

Chris is working on his Spanish work that he will miss while we are gone. It's funny listening to him try to pronounce the words. It's days like this that I wish I would never have gone with a TA. It's totally stressing me out right now..... ::yes::

Okay, so after my above freak out, I went into the bedroom to do some packing. Well, apparently the mail hadn't come yet. Because I went out a few minutes later and it had come! I got Mickey mail!! LOL!!

I'm such a worrywart.

Now I'm wondering about my suitcase. It just measures the right dimensions. I'm not worried about the weight because it's way under weight. DH measured the luggage and it's right there. Hmmmmm....

Now, DH is taking his laptop. So, if I understand Delta's policy, he's allowed that, plus one carryon. He's planning on possibly taking a duffle bag with him.
It's mostly for some souvenirs on the way back.

Now, I'm not sure if Chris will be taking all of his books or not. If he has to, we can always pack those. His suitcase is very underweight. I would like for him to take some of the work on the plane and work on it then.

I have a backpack that I'm taking with all of my trip stuff in it. My binder and such. I wonder if that will count as a purse or a bag? LOL!!

My ankle was feeling better today. Then, about an hour ago the bone starte throbbing like crazy. I hadn't been wearing the brace. So, I put the brace on and the throbbing stopped. LOL! Then, it started itching. Not sure what's worse. :lmao:

HURRAY FOR MICKEY MAIL! pixiedust:  :cool1:

I'm with you on doing the whole shebang myself next time. I have serious control issues and as much as we love our TA, I'm not sure I want to give up control over everything next time. :p

Glad to hear your ankle is feeling some better. What are you doing going without the brace?

So glad your MM came - now you can BREATHE! :hippie:

My ankle actually felt a bit better today. So, I forgot to put it on. LOL! I definitely won't make that mistake again.

Yes, I can definitely breathe better now! Now it's just packing and waiting. LOL!!

Why is that the more that I seem to get done the less I feel like I've accomplished??

Update on the suitcase situation. Saturday night I was sitting on the bed packing and suddenly DH says, "When did the suitcase break?"

What?? This is news to me. Well, I look at it and sure enough the wheel is torn away from the frame. If you bend it the right way then you can see inside the suitcase. Seriously?? It couldn't have done that a week or two ago??

So, I go into hyper spaz mode. I start thinking that we can make it to Target. Maybe Walmart is cheaper. Then, I just decided that forget it. We have three other suitcases in the house, we can make do with those.

So, I proceed to unpack my suitcase. It would have to be my suitcase.

So, I proceed to put all the contents of my suitcase into one of the old ones. Well, Chris is small enough that all his stuff can fit into one of the smaller suitcases. So, what we ended up doing was stuffing his suitcase inside of the bigger ones. That way was have a carry-on for the souvenirs that we are going to bring back.

We were already going to borrow some duffel bags from my boss's boys. Since Chris won't technically have a carryon, just his backpack. Because yes, he will be doing homework at night in the hotel room. Or in the morning in the hotel room. Mike will have his c-pap machine and his laptop. So, he won't have a carry-on. I will have my backpack and that's it.

I'm thinking that we might have 1 small carry-on for the assorted medicines that we take.

We have to take Buddy to the boarder on Wednesday. I'm already missing him and it's not even time yet. I'm also more than a bit worried about him. After what happened last time I just want them to take good care of him.

Definitely looking forward to a lot of the yummy goodies that they are going to have at the Food & Wine Festival. Not so much the wine, but the food and the frozen drinks. We are going to make Epcot our first park on Friday. It's always been our favorite and there's nothing like walking through the turnstiles and seeing that big "golf ball". That's what Chris christened it on his very first visit there when he was 3 and that's what we've all called it ever since.

We have some goals for this trip:

1. Eat at Garden Grill-Always a must on every trip. This is not negotiable.

2. We want to get a crystal with all of our pictures etched in them. We did this back in 2000 and it's time for a new one.

3. See how many different foods I can get DH & DS to try. They are very non-adventurous, so this will be interesting.

4. Try to trick DH & DS into trying Beverly.

5. Have fun!!

I know that the last one is a given, but I just had to throw it in there. LOL!!

Can't believe that it's only 3 more days until we fly out! I'm so excited that I can hardly stand it.....

:yay: :yay: :yay: I'm so excited for you! I know you are going to have a fabulous time! You're not even gone yet and I can't wait for you to get home so I can hear all about it!

Sorry to hear about your suitcase. Things always seem to break at the last minute! :crazy2:

Just a couple more days and you'll be ON VACATION!! :hyper: I know you're uber-busy with last minute stuff. Just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm thinking of you! :flower3: Make sure you check in before you leave if you have time!

Well, at least it happened before you left, I guess. ;)

We have some goals for this trip:

Looks like a reasonable list to me. :) Hope your ankle is doing well and that you have a great time! :goodvibes

Okay, so I managed to get all of my work done today. So, I asked my boss if I could take off tomorrow. I honestly thought that she would tell me no. However, since I managed to get everything done, she told me that I could start my vacation tomorrow!!

Yay!! :cheer2::cheer2:

So, I officially start vacation tomorrow. So now I can concentrate on getting packed for the trip!!

YAY! :yay: No wonder you haven't been online much - you've been too busy doing actual work! :lmao:

So, I went ahead and checked in online this morning. I wasn't sure whether or not to do it. I figured that it couldn't hurt. We don't have curbside dropoff at our airport. Did I mention that our airport is VERY small? LOL!!

We are getting ready to take Buddy to the boarder. I'm really going to miss him. It's going to be weird sleeping without him in between DH and I. LOL!!

So, the order of business today is:

Drop Buddy off at the boarder.
Come home and finish the last minute packing
Wash the little bit of laundry we have
Run and grab Krispy Kreme doughnuts (We love these things)
Get to sleep early

I'm excited, but nervous. I can't believe that we are less than 24 hours from leaving for our trip. :cool1:

This is where Buddy is going this time: http://paradisepetresort.biz/dog-cat-boarding.php

He's going to be in a villa suite. Much nicer than where he was last time. Plus, I like that they have a web cam so we can check on him. Plus, they have a tv. He's used to the tv going when we are at home so it won't be so bad for him. It's more expensive, but after last time I don't trust just anyone with my furbaby.

Well, we are off to try and get some things accomplished. I'll try to check in again before we leave tomorrow. *hugs*
