A Overplanner's Pre-Trip Report

Thanks for all the hugs and thoughts on my latest health issue. Apparently they've had the results since I went in on Wednesday, but didn't bother to tell me at the time. So, I've been waiting for the last 3 days for nothing.

The nurse said that they A1C showed that my glucose level was 5.6. She said that is within the normal limits so I don't have diabetes.

So, with that bullet dodged, we went to Target this morning. DH measured our carryon and it was a smidgen too big. Damn!! I'd measure it before and it looked fine. Grrr... So, it's off to Target. Well, I found a few that looked like they would work. I finally found one that was perfect. It's purple and looks like it has Mickey heads on it. LOL! DH rolled his eyes at me. I also got Buddy a new collar. I swear that my dog is the most spoiled animal in the world. LOL!!

I'm going to spend the weekend rearranging my suitcases and backpack. I've got my notebook done and it looks pretty good.

I'm getting more and more excited as time goes on. I'm still trying to decide whether to do online checkin. I'm on the fence.... :mic:

So, so glad to hear your bloodwork results were fine.

Hope you have a great weekend! I won't have internet access while we're gone, so take care of yourself and we'll talk soon! :flower3: :wave2:

:cool1:

Great News!

Sounds excellent. Except I promptly went and looked it up on the Internet, and now I want one. :p

It is great news!! I'm so relieved.

Aren't they cute? It was the last one in the aisle and I had almost given up on finding one. I love purple and thought that it almost looked like Mickey's on it. LOL!!

I'm not bringing my laptop. I decided that I don't need it for the week plus that we are going to be there. I'll have my iPad so if I need to do anything online I can use that. Plus DH is bringing his google laptop. Even though I tried talking him out of it. LOL!!

Have a great trip and I can't wait to hear all about it!!

Okay, so we firmed up some other of our plans for the trip.

I've got a lot of online friends. That being said, I'm not good at making friends in real life. I guess it boils down to self esteem issues. So, I don't really have a lot of friends off line. I have the girls I work with and some of the girls that DH works with, but other than that not really.

Well, i belong to Livejournal and one of the girls on my friends list lives in Lake Mary. Well, she messaged me asking if I wanted to meet her. It took me a long time to agree to it. I've known her for almost 4 years and we've never met in person. She is one of the nicest people that you will ever meet, but I'm just not confident with myself.

So, all that being said, I messaged her tonight and asked her if we were still on for meeting. I also wanted to find out when a good day would be for her. She said that Sunday works best. Okay, that's doable. I have an Ohana ressie for breakfast and Crystal Palace for dinner. I can add a meeting with her in there. So, we are going to meet at noon at Downtown Disney. I'm really, really excited about it!!

This is a big step for me. LOL!!

That's all for tonight. I hope everyone has a great night!!

Glad to hear that your HbA1c is normal. That's great news. You may have some glucose intolerance and your blood sugar could have gotten out of wack because of your ankle. That's enough physiologic stress to do it.

Yeah for a DTD Disney meet. That sounds like a lot of fun. :thumbsup2

So, we are going to meet at noon at Downtown Disney. I'm really, really excited about it!!

The first time I met one of my online pals, I felt like I spent the whole time yapping and she said hardly a word! It was very unnerving, but she'd told me she was shy, and she read my rambling posts on the Internet (which I would assume are much like my rambling speech when I'm getting no feedback :upsidedow ), so I tried not to worry too much. Apparently she had a great time, and we've gotten together a few times since. My kids adore her! :thumbsup2

But she still doesn't say much. Of course, when my kids were younger and excited, squeezing a word in edgewise would be a challenge for a much more talkative person! ;) I think meeting enriches our friendship, though. :)

Hope your meeting is less nervewracking, but just as good a time. :goodvibes

Some pixie dust for luck.

I just realized that tomorrow I will be 17 days out. On the 17th of the month. :lmao:

Yeah, I'm weird. Getting up at 3 in the morning probably doesn't help me at all in that department. LOL!

Hi Michelle! So glad to hear the words "within normal limits" which is good news!! Yay! :thumbsup2

Even if it is outside your comfort zone I'm sure that 60 seconds after you meet your Dis friend that you will be so glad that you decided to meet up. I'm sure it will be a blessing for her to meet you. :goodvibes

So glad you only have a little over 2 weeks before your trip!!

It's very, very good news!! It's a tremendous weight off of my shoulders.

I'm sure that your right. It will be a blessing. LOL! When I told DH about it he told me that he's just along for the ride. LOL!! Now if I can just stop DS from saying something crazy and embarrassing the heck out of me we will be good. :lmao:

I'm so excited I can't stand it. It's all gone by so quickly. LOL!!

Okay, so I emailed my TA last night. She's been on vacation in Disney for the last 10 days or so. Well, I was wondering if she got my documents yet. She said that she got everything except the ME tags for our luggage. I'm not really too concerned about that because I've read enough here and realize that we can just go to the ME counter at the airport and they will take care of everything, but she did say that she and her family didn't get them either so.... LOL!! She's also going to give me instructions on what to do in case she doesn't get them.

She did say that she waits until 7 days until she sends the other documents out. I know that she's done this before, but it scares me that she waits so long to send them out. It's like nail biting scary. Although I don't want to get them too soon because I don't wanna lose them. LOL! I hope she sends them priority mail. I seem to remember her saying that she did. So, I emailed her again this morning just to double check. It seems like if she has them now then she would send them out now. Dunno. :confused3 I just have to trust that she knows what she's doing. LOL! She's works with lots of people so... I know part of me is just impatient to have the Mickey mail. LOL!! Patience has never been my middle name. LOL!! :crazy2: :scared:

Speaking of mail, I did go online last night and put ours on hold for the time that we are going to be gone. I figured that since I was thinking about it I might as well go ahead and do it. LOL!!

Oh and I totally forgot about something that I'd bought. I got an iPod and Ipad hard shell case personalized with Mickey characters on it. Yeah, they were pretty pricey, but totally worth it.

How horrible am I for wanting to get my DS & DH to try that awful Beverly? I've been scheming ever since I started planning it. DS doesn't remember trying the different flavors there. Since he likes Sprite I'm thinking that he might just fall for it if I tell him that it's like Sprite. LOL!! I just need to keep the smile off of my face or it jig will be up. :lmao:

DH might be harder to trick. I don't think he remembers it. Heck, he didn't even remember that there was a place where you could taste them. He's not a big soda drinker, so I'll have to convince him. LOL!!

Speaking of DH, he asked me last night if I knew that they had moved Dumbo. The conversation went something like this:

DH: Did you know that they moved Dumbo?

Me: Uh, yeah. For only like the past year or so. They just opened it recently.

DH: Really? Did you know that there are two of them now?

Me: Yeah. It's under a big top now.

DH: Really? When did they do that?

Me: When they moved it.

DH: Really?

Me: No, I'm just pulling your leg.

DH: So, did they move it or not?

Me: Insert *head desk here* LOL!! :scratchin Yes, they moved it. Yes I knew about it. Because I actually plan things and go on the Dis boards to plan ahead of time.

DH: You actually read about things like that on there? I thought you just looked up restaurants and stuff.

Me: I love you dear, but leave the planning to me. You are hopeless....

DH: (crickets chirping) Ok.....

I love my husband, but sometimes I wonder if he knows what I put into the planning of our trips.

Okay and for a little tradition, It's A Small World has always been a family favorite of ours. It was DS's first ride when he was 3. Well, you know that little hill at the end? Well, we put our arms up. Kind of like we are on a roller coaster. I reminded him fo that. Well, I got a typical 15 year old eye roll and a "Mom, I'm not three anymore."

Of course he says that every time we go on that ride for the first time of the trip. He always does it at least once. I think he's just humoring his uncool mom. LOL!!

I bet she does it that way because she's had people who did lose them!

One of the reasons our family separates to do theme parks is that hubby and I have different interests. But the BIG reason is that hubby questions everything. "Why are we doing this first? Why are we skipping that? Wouldn't it make more sense...?" I've tried briefing him ahead of time, but then I just end up getting even more angry because I have to justify my every move, twice.

He also wants me to brief him on something we decided against months ago that now looks interesting -- always something we discussed at length when I was setting up the schedule, that he rejected at the time, and now I don't even remember much about it beyond the fact that we only have so much time and decided on what we're doing, instead (although that wouldn't be as annoying at WDW because I know a fair bit about stuff we've never intended to do :p ). I guess it still boils down to contrasting touring styles, because he'd be perfectly happy doing no research whatsoever, then doing whatever appeals to him when he gets there (or whatever's most advertised, or just following the crowd), and not worrying about what he missed. Me, not so much. :upsidedow

So now when we do theme parks, I pretty much dump him at the gate, we meet up for some meals, and everybody's happy. :)

I'm not sure why she waits. I've just decided that I'm going to go with it. LOL!!

DH and I are good with our touring styles, he just drives me crazy because he doesn't plan a single thing. I've just learned to go with it. LOL!!

Not much new trip wise. We are basically waiting for the magical day. I'm getting more and more excited with each passing day. I can't wait!!

Oh and I'm glad that I'm renting an ECV. I was up on my feet a lot today and my ankle is very, very sore. I took some of my medicine and have it elevated. It's starting to feel better. Thank goodness.

I've learned to be that way in everyday life, and to some extent on vacation -- but not when it comes to some things, and especially not when it comes to doing theme parks. :p What's really annoying is that he blows up when I pull the "Why don't we...?" routine on him and often will refuses to discuss it -- and he's admitted this is the case because I always have better reasons for my approach than he can summon for his. ;) So he doesn't get why it bugs me to have him ask, "because you always have good reasons for it anyhow." Which I suppose is how it works at home, but for some reason that whole routine drives me nuts when I'm on vacation. :confused3

Okay, so I had a really tough day today at work.

At least it was a tough day for a really good reason -- friendship and caring about one another. :goodvibes And it's good you realized how important it is to get out to see your friend, IMHO. I hope you get out to Ohio next summer and have a great time! :)

Your conversation with your DH is too funny! :rotfl2: How did you keep a straight face? ....or NOT bang your head on the table.

I bet your ipod and ipad cases are adorable. Sorry - if you posted pictures I can't see them right now (restricted computer).

How is the ankle?

I nearly did bang my head on the table. Several times in fact. LOL! Part of me thinks that he was kidding, but then the other part of me thinks he was serious. Who knows. LOL!! I did start laughing at the end. I couldn't help it!! LOL!!

My ankle comes and goes. If I do too much it hurts, but if I take it easy it feels better. I can't figure it out sometimes. LOL!! It's like it's playing with me. It knows that I'm going on vacation and it just wants to toy with me. LOL!!

I love your evil Beverly plan!! Of course, you've read my TR where this worked so well for both DD and DH to try the stuff. I am going to be anxious to hear back on that one! :)

That was funny that your DH realized that you know more than simply where to dine at WDW - you keep up with the latest. I'm sure he was impressed with your knowledge.

Not sure why your TA would hold your doc so long if she already has then but ok...:scratchin

Yay for less than 2 weeks!!

LOL! I think it's a pretty good plan. Although I'm not 100% convinced that it will work. I'm not mentioning anything to either of them. I thought that was funny how it worked with you DD & DS. I couldn't help smile.

DH still wonders how and why we have to plan where we are going to eat so far in advance. I'm trying to explain it to him. The funny part is that one of the guys he works with is a bit Disney fan. We started talking about it one day when I went to pick him up and he just threw his hands in the air. That's why he's not the planner. LOL!!

I'm still trying to figure that one out. I've stopped trying to second guess her though. I know that she has her reasons. Maybe she's had people lose them. Whatever her reasons I hope I get them in time.

I keep thinking what I'll be doing this time in two weeks. LOL! I'll be in AK. I am soooo excited that I can barely stand it. LOL!!

First of all, I want to apologize for falling so far behind on other's trip reports or PTR's. I'm trying really hard to keep up.

Okay, so DH and I went shopping the other day. We realized that we don't have enough plugs for all our stuff. I guess it's mostly my fault. I'm terrible about losing my cords. So, he got this thing that is a bunch of attachments. I have no idea what they are for or what to do with them. LOL!!

We went to the pet store today to get some stuff for Buddy while he's at the kennel. He loves lamb lungs. For those of you that don't know what these are. I will tell you. They are the nastiest smelling things you will have encounter. They, for the lack of a better word, stink. They smell worse than anchovies. I can't even think of a way to describe them. That's how terrible they are. I swear that they are rotten, but they aren't. They just smell that way. LOL!!

Well, the brand that we get is on sale. Half off. In fact all of their products are. so, we grabbed a bunch of bones and such for him to have when he's at the kennel.

I managed to dig out my lime green iPad cover. All good Disboard members have to have at least one thing that's lime green. LOL!!

I've been trying, trying being the operative word, to clean the house today. It would probably help if I stayed off of the computer, but where's the fun in that? LOL!!

Oh and I noticed something that I'm not sure I like. When they switched our ride back they switched seats. Originally I had an aisle seat the entire way. Now, I have a window seat. I don't like heights. I don't even do well on bridges sometimes. I'm not sure what it is. I just get a bit nervous. I'm hoping that they will let me switch seats with Mike. Chris as the window seats on the other flights. I'm perfectly fine with that. I was even considering Xanax, but the flights are so short that it's not worth it. Plus, I don't need another medicine.

Chris and I went and got our hair cut today. He just needed a trim. I had them trim my bangs. I hate having bangs. I hate when they get in my eyes. I just hate them. LOL!! I had her trim the back and sides. It looks much better. I didn't want to wait until next week though. This way it won't look like I just had it cut. LOL!!

Oh and I bought a new ankle brace. The other one just made my ankle hurt worse. This one is actually making it feel better. I tried putting my shoe on and it actually fit. I got some small ankle socks and they will fit perfectly.

Not much else right now. I'm just super excited about the trip.
