A No Snooze Bar Christmas, Harry & Mickey are Waiting..it is done

Dining with a Yak & Yeti

We leave Yak & Yeti full and happy, well almost all of us are happy (giving is a great rating for the food/good service)…Boo still is begging about KRR, will we give into him?

Our philosophy on KRR is we always do it LAST before we leave the park. This way, we get wet and only have to travel back to the resort wet, not spend all day :)

LOL

Still loving the TR!

Our girls rode KRR 3 times in a row that day and were completely soaked! We sent them back to the hotel while the rest of us went to DTD.

We ate lunch at Yak and Yet CS, its my husbands favorite place to eat in disney, he can't get enough of the chicken fried rice!

Here is the four of us at Sci-fi

My inlaws were also with us, so 6 of us total.

Just started reading your TR last night. We are going to WDW in Dec this year, staying at BWI, so I was super excited to see you were staying in the same area.

Too funny that you had Apple Dumpling Gang as one of your recent dinner & movie nights. We have been doing them a few times a month since Oct, and DH just picked Apple Dumpling Gang for his pick this month! I might have to borrow your menu for that one :thumbsup2

Love your AK updates!! Once again, you have seen things I have never seen before!! Do I go to the same parks?! Love the scrapbook pages and the movie night!

Wow you're rolling out the updates fast! Luvin it though. My mouth is watering at your last update. I think I wanted to try Yak and Yeti counter service part but either couldn't find it or totally forgot in my mission to get everything in. Animal Kingdom was our first day and I still had the dodgy tummy from the plane day and I seem to remember we ate at Tusker and then I felt sick before I ate again lol

:rotfl2:Only because of Photopass...and there wont be many more of those because most of the time I ended up hidden behind my children...some photographers need a little more lessons on families with 5 staging! I hate seeing myself and even though both Ab, Boo had cameras...mine was the only one being used!

Don't you love the groweling picture with my phone and touring plan in hand for the picture...how appropriate!!!!

:rotfl: I had not noticed the touring plan in hand until you mentioned it!!!

After leaving Africa, it was finally time to experience what the kids were most looking forward to during our day at Animal Kingdom…Expedition Everest.

That ride is very intense, but very cool!!

the way we stopped to watch the monkeys, enjoy the theming and take a few photo pass pictures (with those darn sunglasses on, what a way to ruin the best family picture of the trip).

AKEEFAM.jpg

I love the family pic!! Again... it is good to see you and it is a really good picture of you!

We find a nice seat in the middle above the 1st section and watch the show. Of course my children can recite almost every line, but overall the show was enjoyable even if I wanted to slap Dory.

You don't like Dory? :sad2:

With tummies rumbling and ADR time approaching we make our way back past the Tree of Life and into Asia. I have selected lunch at Yak & Yeti and hoping that the food is a “HIT” today as it seems from the message boards I have been stalking that Y&Y is hit or miss on their food. We like Asian style food and I have ready poured over the menu and know exactly what I am having, I just hope that we are seated soon because I have now discovered where the crowd is at. We make our way inside for check in and are told that it will be a 10-15 minute wait, no problem because there are so many neat artifacts to look at in the waiting area.

I am not sure about Y&Y. I liked my yak attack that I got outside well enough, but it wasn't at all strong. I have heard the one inside is much stronger... but I like mango... the food though... I wasn't particularly impressed. You were wanting to lick the plate on the dessert... I could barely take a bit. I had the steak and prawns... and my steak was very very over cooked. But like you said... it is hit or miss on the boards too. My dd LOVED, LOVED LOVED it... so we are planning again for the fall. I hope I have an experience more like yours.

We are still doing Dinner & a Movies Nights...although it has really been scaled back. The kids love to watch the movies and a little themed dinner along with it makes for some good family time. I have decided to go back to the "Classic" movies that Jeff and I grew up on.

Dinner & a Movie Night
April 7, 2012
The Apple Dumpling Gang

1picture.jpg

This week we watched the Apple Dumpling Gang, another movie I can remember watching about the same age as Goo was. My favorite line "Mister, I gotta go." I love Donn Knotts and Tim Conway together. We happened to be at the cabin this weeked so we took the 4-wheelers out and rode up to an old gold mine near our property...although you cannot go into it is still a fun ride and neat to look at. I wish I would have thought to do this movie during the summer, we could have gone panning for gold and visited a ghost town.

Menu: Prospectors Chili, Nugget Corn Bread, Rootbeer and of Course Apple Dumplings (Made by Ab)

I love your dinner/movie nights. You really should put together a book or at least an online blog for it! Your ideas are awesome :thumbsup2

I"m all caught up! Wow, your pics and easy touring (on a 9.8 day!) make me want to give AK another try. We haven't been to that park in 4 years. It's just not a favorite of ours.

I haven't thought about the Apple Dumplin gang in forever. I think they used to play that on THE Disney Channel back in the day-before it became Disney Channel! :rotfl:

And your food pics are making me hungry! :)

OMG! I just remembered that I saw a pm come through from you...but my box was full, so I wasn't able to read (at least I thought there was a second message ). I totally forgot to shoot you a message. Please don't think I ignored you. :guilty:

Sorry to hijack, Tammie... but I knew if I didn't post that here... I would forget.

Great plan...my plan had NO KRR in December...:lmao:

LOL

Still loving the TR!

Our girls rode KRR 3 times in a row that day and were completely soaked! We sent them back to the hotel while the rest of us went to DTD.

I wish mine were old enough to do that...

We ate lunch at Yak and Yet CS, its my husbands favorite place to eat in disney, he can't get enough of the chicken fried rice!

I guess I am spoiled with some really good fried rice...live near an ethnic area of town and I found the rice to be blah...

My inlaws were also with us, so 6 of us total.

Looked through my pictures (remember I have really bad pictures for the most part this day...did not find you :confused3 I am sure though we had to have crossed paths!

Just started reading your TR last night. We are going to WDW in Dec this year, staying at BWI, so I was super excited to see you were staying in the same area.

I love the BW area...would love to stay at BC/YC but that is out of my price range! We found it to be very convient and easy to get other places from. Being able to walk to both DHS and Epcot is a huge plus! Only time we had issues was going to and from AK...seems BW is first stop going and last stop coming back...

Too funny that you had Apple Dumpling Gang as one of your recent dinner & movie nights. We have been doing them a few times a month since Oct, and DH just picked Apple Dumpling Gang for his pick this month! I might have to borrow your menu for that one :thumbsup2

I loved this movie...it had been ages since I saw it. The kids are getting used to the old movies now that our trip rush to watch is done...we are getting about 1 a month in...have another one from May to post and then tomorrow night one scheduled.

Love your AK updates!! Once again, you have seen things I have never seen before!! Do I go to the same parks?! Love the scrapbook pages and the movie night!

I found something you didn't...how on earth does that happen?

That Yak Attack does look yummy! And so do those Wontons!

I can live without the Yak Attack, but the wontons...can I just have that for dinner, please?

Wow you're rolling out the updates fast! Luvin it though.

I am trying to get this TR moving and would like to be done with it by September...can't start a PTR until this TR is done...:rolleyes1

Yuck, bad hair morning with the fog!

You don't like Dory? :sad2:

Dory and Marlin are my least favorite of all Disney characters...and Nemo is not far behind. The whole movie was annoying...Ab loves it so we watch it too many times...

I am not sure about Y&Y. I liked my yak attack that I got outside well enough, but it wasn't at all strong.

Mine was STRONG!

I have heard the one inside is much stronger... but I like mango... the food though... I wasn't particularly impressed. You were wanting to lick the plate on the dessert... I could barely take a bit. Me, too! Get the wontons! :rotfl:

Most of my ideas I steal from somewhere else. We are getting really low key with them and only about 1 time a month.

OMG! I just remembered that I saw a pm come through from you...but my box was full, so I wasn't able to read (at least I thought there was a second message ). I totally forgot to shoot you a message. Please don't think I ignored you. :guilty:

Love highjackers...it makes my TR a little more interesting...not posting alot of stuff here to do with personal life like I did with PTR...is that bad? You get the drama (which I hope is over) on facebook.

Did I see the letter PTR??? Do tell :) My trip report is worse than yours I think. It's 7 months on and I'm just finished day 8 of 16 :lmao: I said that to Momma the other day and she was like it's lucky you don't go every year or you'd never be finished I was like yeah that's the whole point of going every year :lmao:

See Bats, Dragons, and Tigers

1signwhichway.jpg

Upon leaving Yak & Yeti, I decide now is a good time to walk off some of our lunch with a Trek through the Asian jungles. Of course Boo see this sign and decides to start working again on getting his family to agree to KRR, but being the dry and planning to stay that way trumps his pleas, after all the next sign says...

1trailsign.jpg

Who would not want to see these things? First up is the dragon..Goo is expecting a HP dragon and is disappointed to see the little Komodo Dragon on display and Boo is the first to chime in that the Denver Zoo has bigger ones.

2komodo.jpg

We don’t spend much time looking at the “dragon “and move on to the Bats. On our way the boys decide that they already know what bats look like, so let’s just skip them. Knowing what we are about to see, I remind them that bats come in all sizes, and these might be different than the normal sized bats we see flying at night around our cabin. We enter into the viewing area and they boys are in awe of the size of the bats. We spend quite a bit of time in here looking at the displays and watching a bat eat (and I am thankful that is all they are doing and we did not get the show that Ann and her family got a week earlier).

3batsandgoo.jpg

3bats.jpg

3batseat.jpg

Ab finally pulls her brothers away from the bats and next up is the animal she wants to see,

3tigersohmy.jpg

but the question is will they let us see them.

3tigertongue.jpg

Yep, they are and we spend lots of time watching this majestic tiger looking all regal next to the water. The tigers in the second viewing area are not as cooperative and we only catch glimpses around the theming walls of them. Speaking of theming, another Disney WOW.

4theming2.jpg

4theming1.jpg

Our final stop is the aviary, where this grey guy lets us take a close up of him.

4greybird.jpg

As we depart the Maharajah Jungle Trek, Boo knows that we will be going past KRR and again starts pleading and this time his pleads are rewarded with

5fastpasshappy.jpg

but only if he rides by himself. With a fast pass in hand he is happy to head to…

Oh Emma...you do read everything, don't you. I am toying with a DL trip next March during spring break...CARSland is calling our names! Also, I met a group of ladies here on the DIS and we are planning a group trip during F&W in 2013. One of them already has a ticker up for the trip, but I will not until I get this TR done...more motivation, right?

Love all those animal pictures. Love the idea of DL over Spring Break. DL will be our 2014 trip, so I'm hoping to convince Dan to upgrade our Universal tickets to season passes and go back there for 2013... a girl can dream, right?

We did the jungle trek after lunch too, it was VERY interesting. We were in awe of the bats, did you notice that they are all male? The tigers were eating grass since they had tummy aches. There was a mentally challenged CM working in the tiger area and he LOVED dh's star wars shirt and spent a long time teasing dh and MIL, it was quite funny, he kept calling MIL R2D2 and dh C3PO. Then we stopped to look at a different animal, I was tired so sat on a bench and was rewarded by having a squirel climb into my lap and bite my bracelet! Crazy!

I just couldn't stand none of us having it. This way even though its a very sad amount of time right now, we know exactly how long! Or at least close to it depending on F&W/Villians Bash dates ;)

What a great tiger shot!!! Beautiful!

I hate KRR. Why do the kids like it so much?!

Is your trip with other DIS ladies, an adult trip or are the kids going too?

I think that is a good dream...we have told the kids no Universal until they expand HP and that still have not been announced officially...looks like it will be a long time before I have another butter beer!

OMG...we stood and talked to the same young man. He was so sweet telling my kids all about the tigers.

Yikes...somewhere I have a picture of that squirrel that bit you! And now I know we were at the exact same place at the same time...because the kids remember seeing a lady with a squirrel crawling on her...that is so crazy, sorry but we laughed at you. I am going to look for that picture, we swore that squirrel was a stalker because he came at us, too!

Your ticker makes me both laugh and then get depressed...I still love that Princess picture I found and posted on Amy's PTR after a really bad day!

What a great tiger shot!!! Beautiful!

I love his tongue sticking out the best!

I hate KRR. Why do the kids like it so much?!

I think they like to get wet, us old people...well the wet does nothing for us!

Is your trip with other DIS ladies, an adult trip or are the kids going too?

Right now it looks like it is just the girls...and I figured when we narrowed down dates and places we would let you know to see if you could join us for a day. We are lookin at the last week of September 2013...F&W, MNSSHP, or the Tower Run...although thinking about running is making me run the other way in terror!

Sounds good. I'm prob not going to get a Disney trip this year so hopefully will do a solo one in 2013. Although saying that I feel I need a disney trip to celebrate masters plus my friend now works in Disneyland Paris so good excuse no?!

Trying to catch up again, lol

Your Animal Kingdom pictures are amazing!! I Love EE. I hope Boo enjoyed KRR, I always come off that ride soaked.

You humble me that you would even attempt to read 10 months of ramblings of my PTR! Love your dd name...mine is Abigail or Abb "ie". It has been a really rough 4 years and we finally gave up. She is transferring to another private school (where you knows most of the girls anyway) that should of been where we were at all along, but I had this stupid loyality issue going on with the Catholic Schools. It is sad that her former school did not care to want to do anything to retain their top student or live up to its Catholic/Christian Teachings. We are all looking forward to a new start. I hope things get better for your Abby...I know how stressful it is on the entire family!

I'm sorry to hear Abbie had to transfer schools but I am wishing her all the best. Abby has decided to finish out her last year (next year)in the school she is in but is planning to go to High School that none of her classmates are planning on going to. School is finished this week and we are all looking forward to the summer break.

Our Dinner and a Movie on Sunday was a success thanks for the inspiration.

There were a bunch of kids there and I remember a man taking my picture because we were all cracking up over that squirrel, he was bold! Whats funny is my family was at the fencing viewing the animals and never saw a thing. I dont think they believe me!

Another Show?

We depart our Asian Trek only to make a new trek according to my touring plans to Camp Minnie & Mickey.

1campsign.jpg

I can’t wait to see all the Christmas Trees, meet a few characters, and see FotLK. When we get to Camp Mickey we discover that probably everyone else had the same idea and the crowds are wall to wall people, so much so that we can’t see which characters are currently greeting people nor can I get close enough to any of the little Christmas trees. Seeing the crowd I think it would be best if we just get lined up for the show. Jeff grumbles at the thought of watching another show. It does not take long for the line to being entering the theater and we are seated in the lion area,

1simba.jpg

but in the end I think the boys would have rather snorted in the Warthog section the entire production.

2pumba.jpg

The kids and I get into the music and singing along, while Mr. Grumpy pants (I know, wrong show…that was a Nemo line) sits back and acts like Scar.

4ending.jpg

3dancers.jpg

3timon.jpg

After the show the plan was to see those trees and meet the characters, but the crowds to appeared even worse and we decided to skip it and to take a closer look at the Tree of Life before taking another jungle trek. As we make our way towards the tree, I can see that people are already lining up for the afternoon parade. I don’t let this worry me because, I have it planned.

8closerframed.jpg

2picturetrailentrance.jpg

1treeframed.jpg

We find the entrance into the photo trail and the kids begin telling their dad all about how the Tree of Life was made…thank you to A&E Modern Marvels and the Disney Park Video we watched earlier in the month to celebrate Walt Disney’s Birthday.

I pulled out the binoculars for the kids to take a closer look at the animals and we spent the next 20 minutes admiring and naming all the animals we found.

The trail comes to an end and we head towards Africa with me acting to smug about all the poor souls lining up for the parade so early when I knew a secret to the parade, but will my family let me use my secret?
