A No Snooze Bar Christmas, Harry & Mickey are Waiting..it is done

Cannot wait to see Shrek. Your photos of the waiting area and description of the seating do have me realizing I'm going to be outside my comfort zone at Universal. I do not deal well with foolish people, and it looks like there's a lot of them in that theater.

Luvin the updates! I am a serious chicken and won't ride anything that goes faster than small world :rotfl:

:rotfl:Come on, you can do it!

Great update!

Sounds like you have left a bit of a cliffhanger again... Goo wasn't feeling up to going out of the room? Oh no!!!

cute ornaments!

I got him out of the room and into USO, just wait to see what happens!

Love the updates. The butter beer mustaches are cute. Goo looks exhausted at v the end. I vote for Men in Black first.

The mustaches happened by accident thanks to Boo and I thought it would make a great picture...MIB would have been a great choice!

I have some serious ride chickens in my family. My 18 year old son will be the one who won't ride anything this trip and there is just no way I'm going to force that boy -- who is six inches taller than me -- onto a ride. He won't even do Expedition Everest. I'm so glad you got your boy on it and that he liked it!

:rotfl2:Oh I sure hope my 2 chickens grow out of it before they are 18...they want to go to Six Flags this summer, but I am refusing unless they get off the kiddie rides! Goo talks a good story right now...he tells me when he gets tall enough he will ride with me...maybe that is God's plan for my OOPS baby!

I really HATE the preshow queuing areas of the attractions that are shows at USO...because there is no control over a bunch of people standing crowded in a room...UGH...and then when they open the doors into the theater....:scared1: a teachers nightmare!

I am guessing that you are somewhere in Western Missouri/Kansas...I am going to be in St. Louis (mainly just the downtown area) the first of May for a conference...any suggestions if you know the area?!

:rotfl:Come on, you can do it!

Hee NO! :lmao: I've been saying for the last three trips I'm going to try splash mountain and thunder mountain and then we accidentally on purpose always run out of time for me to try :rolleyes1

Shrek I went to once and I think there were spiders so never again :rotfl: it was good other than the spiders! (Was there spiders I don't remember?) :rotfl:

Dinner & a Movie Double Feature:
Darby O'Gill & the Little People
The Gnome Mobile
March 13, 2012

I know it was a little early for St. Patrick's Day, but I really wanted to celebrate with these movies and I knew we would be out of town...so we pretended to have St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday instead of Saturday, even dressing up in green. Growing up I remember watching the Gnome Mobile, which was one of me and my 2 sisters favorite movies! What I remembered most was Violet "catchin" Jasper. When we put the movie on, the first thing my kids said was, those are the Mary Poppins kids. Yes, sure enough they were and in the movie credits they are identified as the Mary Poppins Children. I wonder what happened to them and if they came yet more casualites of childhood stardom. The rest of the week the kids called each other Doodees, and they enjoyed it so much that they took the movie up for their aunt and cousins to watch (which my sister was really excited about). Our other movie was Darby O'Gill and the Little People...ahh a young Sean Connery, sigh! I love pulling out these "old" Disney movies for the kids, and they really seem to enjoy them!

I love the movie night! Some old disney movies are so fun.

The update was great. I hope that going easy works! Especially since you are throwing out your touring plan. Believe me that is ever so frustrating.

Good to see you got your Irish food better than the Food and Wine Festival does.. That Fishermans pie they serve as being an "Irish dish" I've never heard of it being Irish. Bacon, Cabbage and Potatoes now that's Irish! :) Apple pie for dessert Momma said as well! Tayto Crisps (chips) and Cadbury Chocolate that's what the Food and Wine Festival needs :)

I’ll Be Back

So I decided next up on our touring plan would be Monster Make Up Show, but first we had to get past Terminator and through Beverly Hills

1signbeverlyhills.jpg

1headdownstreet.jpg

which sounds easy…but I since by first trip I have raved about how great the Terminator Show was and then Jeff let the boys watch Terminator (no judging, it was a total dad thing with no mom knowledge until after the fact). Of course Boo spots

1terminatorsign.jpg

and tells Goo, who wants to go right now and see the show. I know that we don’t have time to see the show and get to the make up show so I promise Goo…”I’ll be back.” Of course not feeling 100% and then mom telling you later makes a little guy a little more whiny than usual. Sidetracking him we look at the stars on sidewalk and go about trying name what they did.

1starsdynasty.jpg

Oh...my Dynasty teen age years...

1starsdallas.jpg

It was a pretty fun game while it lasted…it lasted until Ab and Boo decide they want a snack (apparently a glass of butter beer and a Cinnabon were not enough for both breakfast and lunch, go figure).

3abpretzel.jpg

While I waited for them to get something I took a few pictures of Beverly Hills.

We made it to the end of Beverly Hills...After the snack attack we end up at the theater for the Monster Make Up Show

where Ab, Jeff and Boo go about looking in all the display cases while Goo and I go and sit on the floor (which I am glad we did because I did not like what I glanced at in the display cases as we passed by, not some place I would recommend small children in...these are selective pictures that are not too scary).

I gave him a little sip of sprite that we had gotten at the snack cart... I should have known what would happen about 5 minutes later :scared1:

I'm still following right on along and love all your updates!

I'm worried Goo is going to vomit at any time though! yikes.

Love all the photos too:thumbsup2

oh no, oh no... I have visions of impending vomit  Love the pictures of Beverly Hills. I have never been to Universal in Orlando (been to the one in California). We keep meaning to take the time to do a side trip there when we go to Disney but just haven't worked it into our plans yet - maybe next time!!

I didn't see those lampposts with the santa hats..

And we missed the horror make up show this year when I saw your pics I shouted at the computer THEY CHANGED THE DISPLAY :scared1: it was Van Helsing props!

That part of universal reminds me of DHS.

What day is this on your trip? Hmm... your arrival day was 12/25. So is this 12/27?

Looks like this was a bit warmer a day, yes? I know some of your days were down right freezing.

OMG! In all my posts, I have never had a double (I dont' think) Occasionally I have got a message that it is a double, but this time no message... it just posted. Hmmmmm... so... I am editing this one just so that it isn't exactly the same as the previous.:rolleyes:

That does not sound good.

It wasn't as you are about to read...:sad2:

If you can work it in...do, while it is not Disney it does have some great things.

I didn't see those lampposts with the santa hats..

Cool aren't they...I am sure if you look in some of your pictures you will find them. Or did I finally see something you didn't! :rotfl:

To tell you the truth I am not sure really what is in all the cases...Van Helsing still might be there. I could see Jurassic Park, Chuckie...and that was enough for me to sit down with Goo in the floor away from it all.

That part of universal reminds me of DHS.

It does, but I so like DHS verision better (I don't watch horror movies), althought I really wanted to see the show!

What day is this on your trip? Hmm... your arrival day was 12/25. So is this 12/27?

Yep, this is day 2...the weather was probably low 70s...not bad in fact pretty comfortable.

Looks like this was a bit warmer a day, yes? I know some of your days were down right freezing.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Great way to start a Saturday...a smile from hearing Ann's voice go back and forth!

ET, Text Home

I should have known better than to give him a little sip of sprite, but I gave it to him anyway because I really thought he could handle it. Well he handled, but not so much his stomach. Thank goodness I still had a wad of napkins from the snack attack handy and out the door we went, right into the pouring rain. Poor guy, the sprite came right back up and with that right back to the RPR he and Jeff went (except for a stop to look at some cool cars across the street).

gooandjeffleaving.jpg

This picture really breaks my heart...

Jeff decided to take him back to rest and insisted that the 3 of us stay and tour the park. I felt torn, because I wanted Ab and Boo to enjoy the day, but at the same time felt guilty that Goo and Jeff would miss the park. But in the end, we parted ways…the 3 of us did not go back in the theater to watch the make up show but continued on in the rain towards the next area,

1signto.jpg

which happened to be the Kids Zone. I had only planned on ET and Woody’s Coaster, but with Goo gone we opted just to do ET. I had to laugh and then text my friend Pam (who was on my first trip to Orlando with me) that is was raining at Universal…right in the exact same spot we were in during a total downpour and once again the rain ponchos were back in the hotel room. I swear, I did not see rain on the weather forecast.

2ETsign.jpg

We are directed to the empty queue with our express pass because we just missed the preshow, but at least we are first in line for the next group and we are out of the rain.

4waiting.jpg

That angered a few people in the regular line and I heard a few comments made to the CM. Boo begins to spit out quotes from ET the movie as we pass out time and before we know it we see the preshow video,

Orlando589.jpg

give our name to get our ET Phone home card and then ushered into the dark forest queuing area.

4passport.jpg

Orlando594.jpg

Ab rolls her eyes and decides this is going to be a totally cheesy ride while Boo does all he can to hold his nose at the smell. The line is chaos as no one really knows which way to go because the signs point all over the place for Express pass and stand by line, no one is going anywhere and we become bottled up on the pathway. Finally a CM comes to straighten out the mess, and it appears (because it is so dark in this area) that the express pass line may be longer than the standby line …Boo gripes (yes, after a 1 ½ days he is spoiled). After a few slow twists and turns we end up in a hallway and the loading area, not too bad and are ushered ahead of the line when the called for a party of 3. We aboard our bikes and with a little Steven Spielberg magic we are flying, trying to help ET escape and get back to his home planet.

5ETend.jpg

airtran036.jpg

Yay, we got ET home safely…even if both of my children where groaning and rolling their eyes by the time we disembarked. Okay, so it is a lame ride and very dated ride, at least we are out of the rain. We leave the Kids zone area, after teasing Boo about going to see Barney and singing that annoying song. I am really excited what attraction is up next on our touring plan…

So what am I excited about, the Simpson’s Ride of course.

1simpsonssign.jpg

1outsidesimpsons.jpg

From my prior trip I ended up loving this ride, even though I have never watched the Simpson's and really detest everything to do with them…the ride, a motion simulator, was incredible if my memory serves me right. The wait time is at 100 minutes:scared1:

P1010174.jpg

2overlookingline.jpg

but again we pull out those wonderful express passes and are directed right past the line, up the ramps to the top level where we wait less than 15 minutes.

3viewfromabove.jpg

Both my kids are thinking I am crazy at this moment for even going near something that is related to the Simpson's, but I assure them the ride is worth it. Remember my children lead a pretty sheltered life, going to private Catholic Schools so the Simpson's is pretty foreign to them, other than knowing the name of the family…I am not sure they could tell you the names of the family members…that comes very apparent in the preshow and loading area as they watch the videos and turn to me in looks of confusion at the humor being used (I must say a little shock too at some of the things being said, and now know why we don't watch the show).

4preshow1.jpg

4preshow.jpg

Again, I reassure them that the ride is a lot of fun! We are lead to our car where we are seated in the back row, and the car moves forward and the doors open to reveal a huge screen that comes to life with the adventures of the Simpson family.

simpsonsrideuniversal.jpg
simpsonsrideuniversal2.jpg

When the ride ends, I can’t help but feel disappointed, the ride was not nearly as fun as I remember…maybe because I rode the ride before I got on FJ on that trip and then rode it now after the FJ. Ab and Boo both look at me like I was crazy that I liked this ride as much as I talked about…okay, so I was wrong but maybe they will like the next one better, cause right now I am at 2 strikes.

I am so sorry Goo was still sick. That is not fun... glad you got to stay though. :goodvibes Too bad the rides you went on though turned out to not appeal to your kids.

Sounds fun! DH and I used to watch the Simpsons all the time when we were in college... 20 years ago. I told him about your experience and he suggested we might want to catch a few episodes before we go to Universal. Yeah, probably wouldn't be a bad idea, huh?

No clue where I left off at. I'll come back and try to figure it out when I have more time but I'm here!

I haven't been on the simpsons ride (not brave enough) but love ET and love the way he says your name at the end. :lovestruc
