A newbie, a nana, two princess, and......the Planner! (Updated 1/4--DTD & head home)

Did you do that trick or treating thing?? The BBB sound like it was excellent! but that stinks that Anna didnt get to choose her dress or hair. I'm excited for the next up date

Hi! I just found your report and I think it is great! So far it sounds like you guys had a great time and your DD's are soooooo cute! :cutie: I'm am so jealous there was no BBB when we were kids! I would have been in seventh Heaven! :cloud9: But I enjoyed living vicariously through your photos! And you guys looked fabulous for MNSSHP! It's so much fun! I can't wait to see the rest!:thumbsup2

Hi :wave2: ! It's always good to have a new reader. I agree, I would have loved the BBB when I was little. Now I just get to spoil my little ones a bit (just while we're on vacation though ;) ). We had a lot of fun dressing up for the Halloween party......DH and I hadn't dressed up since we were kids, so it was something really fun for us to all do together.

aww I love that you guys dressed up together how adorable! The pics are awesome! Sorry you had some rain, but at least you got to have some fun and it didn't ruin the whole experience all together. :thumbsup2

We had a lot of fun dressing up together.....luckily the rain only spit at us off and on and never really let loose. Next time we got to the Halloween party, Anna says DH has to be the Beast, she is going to be Belle in her yellow gown, and I'm supposed to be Belle in her blue provincial dress. However, she failed to remember that, by that time, Addy will be old enough to go to. Dh and I thought maybe Addy could be Chip :) .

Who was your server at Tony's? Was it Josh? :rotfl2: Did you pay for the stroller? Strollers are free during the parties. I don't know if they tell people this but Joy always gets one and you have to show your party ticket but there's no charge. :scared1: Yikes! A 45 minute wait for Minnie? OMG! Look at you guys though! You are soooo cute! :lovestruc Love love love the costumes! The picture of you three in front of the castle is da bomb! :thumbsup2

Nope, no Josh for us :sad2: . I was looking for him too :rotfl: . We did pay for the stroller, so that really stinks if they're supposed to be free. We already had our bracelets on, so they had to know that we had tickets to the party. Plus, I think that it was after 8 (or close to) when we rented it. We had lots of fun all dressing up together, and I love the picture with the castle in the background beccause of all the different colors.

We did do a fair amount of trick or treating. We had gotten one of the Halloween bags that they were selling at pretty much all the shops for $5, and we just kept dumping our little candy bags into it. It was pretty much full by the time we left for the evening. Anna did choose her hair, just next her dress. Really the only reason that she wanted a different dress was because she wanted a long one, but she was excited for us to all be dressed up together.

LOVE the costumes!!! so cute. the mad hatter is one of my favorites - he's crazy!

Today was our Epcot day, and we were up early again because we had an 8:30 ADR at Askershus. Today was probably the first day that we had no trouble getting a bus. Unfortunately, by the time we got to Epcot, it was raining. We got in to the park with no problems, and it was pretty cool to see it so empty.

We basically made a sprint for Norway because we were all getting soaked. We hadn't needed rain ponchos yet on the trip, and I had forgotten to buy some before we left home, so we just didn't have any. It didn't really make for a pleasant walk (or run, as the case was for us).

By the time we got there, we were all soaked and a bit grumpy. We found out that Belle was greeting, and Anna was ecstatic :thumbsup2 . She and I ran into the bathroom to change her into her Belle dress (she was Belle for Halloween last year and her costume still fit). She was pretty glad to get out of the wet clothes anyway.

Unfortunately, we had a little problem (that my mom later told me she noticed and just didn't say anything :scared1: ) the under layer of the dress was tucked into Anna's panties! So, if you look closely, you can see them in the picture. She hasn't noticed yet though, so we're just going to pretend you can't see them ;) .

We were one of the first families seated, and it never got very busy. I don't know if this was because of the rain or what, but it was nice this way any how. I kept trying to find out if Jasmine was there because we had also brought Anna's Jasmine outfit, but no one would/could tell me. First we headed up to the cold buffet, which had mostly breakfast breads, fruit, and cheese. They had a jalepeno cheese that DH really liked. Then they brought out the platter with eggs, sausage, bacon, potato casserole, etc. I really loved the potato casserole, but mostly because it tastes just like the party potatoes that I make at home.

Right after they brought out the platter, we saw Jasmine come out the doors, so Anna and I ran to the bathroom AGAIN to change. We got back just in time to see Aurora.
DisneyWorld464.jpg

As you can see by the look on Addy's face in this picture, she wasn't afraid of the princesses, but she wasn't too sure about them either.

Next was Jasmine, and these are some of my favorite pictures from the breakfast.

Next we saw Snow White headed our way. We had brought Addy's Snow White costume along (that's what she was for Halloween this year), so we just changed her quickly at the table.
DisneyWorld468.jpg

Snow White was quite impressed that each one of the dwarfs had their own autograph page :) .

DisneyWorld471.jpg

Finally, we saw Mulan. Much to my chagrin, for some reason, there was no Mulan in the autograph book  . I don't know if I just forgot to print it or what. I had one for Mushu, just not one for Mulan. We ended up having her sign one of the extra blank pages that I brought along, but I think she might have been a little offended.
DisneyWorld472.jpg

The food and service here were both good, and we would definitely return. Plus, it's nice to be able to get in the park early. Since the restaurant wasn't very busy, we finished about the time Future World opened. However, first things first, we ran into the store in Norway and bought rain ponchos so that we wouldn't get any wetter than we already were  .

Aww I love meeting with the princesses! We never ate there, but we did the princess breakfast at CRT so I've met with quite a few of them there. How are the little ones doing? I forget which one was having ear issues sorry. I was having a bit of ear issues myself. I've not felt right since last week so I've been drinking tons of fluids and taking zicam to flush out whatever is trying to attack my immune system, but I went to bed with a scratchy throat last night and I woke up feeling more icky. Wondering how long its going to last. On top of that on the drive to work today my left ear hurt so bad I thought I was going to start crying. I thought about turning around and taking myself to the er, but everytime my ears have been looked at when they hurt my dr always said she saw nothing so I'd rather of been at work. It went away eventually. Hopefully this goes away before we go home for thanksgiving next week. My dad has a horrible immune system and gets sick very easily and I'd hate for my visit to make him ill. Not to mention being sick on thanksgiving wouldn't be fun. Can't wait for another update. I hope you had a great weekend!

OMG the girls are so precious dressed up with the Princesses. :cutie: That picture of Snow White with baby DD is adorable! I thought I saw a Mulan page in your PTR!? I loved those books you made by the way. What did the characters say about them?

Oh...the strollers. I never knew it either 'til Joy told me. I went to get the strollers during the PPP (Sidney was on the way back on the monorail...he'd taken our reg clothes back to the car) and we had our bracelets on but she said she'd still need to see the tickets! :confused3 Whatever. So we waited for him to get back...got the strollers and went on our way.

I think that Aurora was my Alice last year! Haha! :) Your little princesses look so sweet!

Thank you..........Aurora does kind of look like Alice :rotfl: .

I actually took Anna to see the specialist just this morning. Things don't look very good........her right ear is still VERY infected and full of fluid. The doctor is also concerned about the swelling behind her ear because that doesn't usually happen anymore. He thinks it might be an antibiotic resistant bacteria :(. He wants her to stay on the antibiotic that she's on and he's going to see her again in two weeks. If this fluid isn't gone, he's going to have to drain it and put a tube in. Plus, she's lost 40% of her hearing in that ear.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well, and I hope you're better for the holidays next week. My grandma has real immune problems as well, so I always have to be very careful if either of the girls has even just a runny nose or anything.

I'll try to get another update up today........hopefully when Addy is taking a nap. Anna is going to try going back to dance lessons tonight (she missed because of the balance issues caused by the ear infection), so it might not be until this evening.

I could have sworn that we had a Mulan page.......it seems so weird that we would have missed one of the main characters. I even went through my book and looked, and I didn't have one either. Several of the characters were very impressed with the book. Stitch at the Ohana breakfast even tried to point out to us that some of the characters that we had pages for weren't in the parks anymore.

I wish I had known that about the strollers........I had been following a thread about it before we went, but people were getting very mixed answers from CMs. I was ok with paying for it for the night, but it still would have been nice to save that money. I was shocked about how nice the strollers pushed and steered though.

Maybe I saw Mushu but I thought for sure it was Mulan. Very weird. I guess they could have changed the stroller thing but the last time we did a party. (Summer '07) they were still free but only for the party. They do handle very well.

Ok, I'm going to attempt to get a quick update done before DH gets home. Unfortunately, I don't have many pictures from this morning. Addy was being pretty clingy, and I spent most of my time holding on to her. I'm not sure why DH didn't take a few more pictures, but sometimes I think he just got annoyed with carrying around the camera.

My mom had very fond memories of Spaceship Earth, so we headed for it first. There was pretty much no line. Both of the girls insisted on riding with me, so DH rode with my mom.........this kind of started a pattern for the morning. I admit it, both of my girls are mommy's girls and, secretly, I like it ;) .
DisneyWorld479.jpg

Anna got mad at the end of the ride because the camera only took a picture of me and Addy, so she wasn't in any of the pictures. I promised her that next time we went she and I would ride alone so that she would be in the pictures too. I didn't know what they were taking the pictures for (yes, I saw them on one of Dawn's reports, but I didn't realize that's what was going on), so unfortunately there's no pictures of those. They were pretty cute with Addy in them too.

Next, we ran over and grabbed fastpasses for Soarin' because I've heard that they run out sometimes and I wanted to make sure that we got to ride it. We weren't sure if Anna would ride it or not, so we got three fastpasses so that she could ride if she wanted to.

After that, we headed over to the Nemo ride and did Turtle Talk with Crush.
DisneyWorld480.jpg

The Nemo ride was just ok.........at least there really wasn't anything that scared Addy, but DH really enjoyed Turtle Talk. He loves Crush and is just amazed at these interative shows. He thought this one was even better than the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor. I knew I had to get a picture of Anna in the shark, so here it is (if you look closely, you can kind of see DH too :) )..........
DisneyWorld473.jpg

DisneyWorld474.jpg

We spent a lot of time looking at the aquariums. Anna and Addy were both fascinated by the fish. Anna especially loved the seahorses. She just thought they were so cool. We also looked at the manatees, and talked about how fishermen used to mistake them for mermaids (Anna has a thing for mermaids).

Once we were finished and got outside, I got several cool pictures because Anna was in the mood to pose.
DisneyWorld475.jpg

DisneyWorld476.jpg

DisneyWorld477.jpg

DisneyWorld478.jpg

After Anna was finished posing, we decided that we needed a little snack. The rain had cleared off a little bit, and it was really humid, so we decided we'd all share an Itzakadoozie.
DisneyWorld481.jpg

DisneyWorld482.jpg

They both really enjoyed it, but Addy wasn't too thrilled about having to share.

Next, we headed over to Journey into Imagination.
DisneyWorld484.jpg

DisneyWorld485.jpg

They have completely revamped this ride since the last time I rode it (in 1988), and I have to say that it didn't really live up to the memories. I was especially unimpressed with the skunk scent......although, it was pretty funny to see the look on Addy's face. You gotta love Figment though. We all had some fun playing at the end of the ride too.
DisneyWorld486.jpg

DisneyWorld487.jpg

DisneyWorld488.jpg

By the time we got done here, it was time for the Soarin' fastpasses. Addy was getting a little cranky, but Anna had decided that she didn't want to ride so we all headed that direction before mom left. I know that Anna would have really enjoyed it, but there was just no convincing her to go on it with us, so we found mom and the girls a table in Sunshine Seasons (which was quite a task at lunchtime, I might add). We got a kids meal for the girls to split, and Adam and I headed for Soarin'.

We absolutely loved this ride. I had heard about it and seen clips on the Travel channel, but they most definitely didn't do it justice. It was definitely cool to have the scents pumped in, and it really did feel like you were flying. We were in about the third row, so there were a few feet hanging in front of us, but it was still really neat. I have seen several IMAX movies that involve flying, and this was SO MUCH better!

We headed back to Sunshine Seasons to meet mom and the girls. Addy was pretty grumpy by this point, and mom was ready to go, so we walked them to the front of the park. DH decided that he was going to grab fastpasses for Test Track (they had finally opened it up, but it was only running intermittenly because of the off and on rain), so Anna and I went into the Cool Station for a while and she tried a few of the different pops. I didn't make her try the Beverly, but she did really like the watermelon one.

It was taking DH forever to get back, so Anna and I sat outside for a while and watched the dance fountain. She thought that was pretty entertaining. Dh finally made it back, and he had to go in and try some of the different pops too. I had told him there was a bad one, but I didn't tell him which one it was. Well, guess which one he went for first! Honestly though, he said he didn't think that it was that bad, and he did manage to keep a straight face. His favorite was the watermelon one too, and he ended up drinking quite a bit of it. I, personally, liked the ginger ale.

Once DH had enough pop, we decided to head for the World Showcase and grab us some lunch. Even though Anna wasn't hungry, we were.

Up next, the World Showcase.

Aww she would of totally liked Soarin...I freak out every time we go on it and it cracks me up b/c I know nothing is going to happen yet I just can't control myself. Once we're up there i'm okay and I love the ride, but standing in line I start to freak a bit and I hold on for dear life pretty much the whole time. I'm probably scaring people lol. Its not bad...I'm just a big baby! :rotfl2: I love the smells too...especially the pine! So delicious! If a scent can be that...I love turtle talk with crush as well! So cute and funny! Then I can't stop saying totally awesome dude the rest of the day hehe. I do it just to see if I can get under dh's skin, but he just thinks I'm silly so it all works out. Speaking of dh...we sadly can't get the time off for our trip so yesterday he had to call our travel guy at dreams unlimited and cancel the trip:sad2: And guess what dh had booked for us? Nothing short of amazing...he actually booked AKL concierge level!!!:scared1: So sad to have that taken away from us. Also all the good stuff like a fantasmic dinner package and candle light processional dinner package....sigh. Glad to see your post tonight though...cheered me up a bit. Can't wait to hear more!:thumbsup2

I agree. Nemo is cute but it's a boring ride. Soarin' is fun. I don't like it when I can see the feet though. I'd never ridden with feet noticeable 'til last visit. Ick! Cute pics over at the Seas of the girls. :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry that you don't get to go  . I had been keeping my fingers crossed for you, and it sounds like it would have been an AMAZING trip. They offered us concierge level at the Contemporary on the 4/3 deal, but it was a little more than we could afford. It would have been fun though. I really hope that we can go at Christmas sometime. Maybe we can take Anna for her birthday some year........it's December 13.

I'm glad I was able to cheer you up a little. I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on my updates :) .

I agree, Nemo was a little boring, but it was nice to have a ride that there was NOTHING to scare Addy on. I didn't really enjoy the feet either, but the ride itself was pretty cool.

I especially love the picture of Anna with the octopus. I'm not sure why she was in such a posing mood that morning, but it was nice because sometimes she absolutely refuses to let me take her picture or she'll wait until I'm ready to take the picture and then will turn away from me.

Sorry............no update tonight. I'll try to get one done tomorrow, but we are taking our Christmas pictures, so I can't guartantee anything. Wish us luck with the pictures.....we'll need it with Addy.

Aww....my birthday is December 12th! Awesome! I'll have to stop by the report on the 13th to say happy birthday to her. hehe. Well I went and got a manicure/pedicure today to cheer myself up. Nothing like a little pampering. Usually I get a very sheer pink on my fingers and a darker one on my toes, but I wanted to be festive since we are going home next week and I needed something to cheer me up so I got this really pretty red...I forget what its called and normally I'm not a red or dark finger nail polish kind of girl, but this color is so gosh darn cute I am liking it more and more everytime I look at it! And the girl told me to stop by monday or tuesday and she'd repaint them if they chip over the weekend(which they will b/c I am going to clean and decorate.) So that they'll be fresh for my trip home...free of charge too. How sweet is that?! We're talking about staying at the contemporary in january when we go. DH offered Coranado springs resort(we've stayed there before and like it), AKL (also stayed there) or the contemporary. I am a little worried that the contemporary isn't really disney enough, but then I said to him well nothing screams disney like being next to the magic kingdom so we're considering it. It also depends on what is open since we are way past the 180 day mark. So availability will be playing a huge factor in where we end up. When are you going in january? If we'd be there at the same time I'd love to meet up. I've never met a diser before! :goodvibes

I'd love to meet up if we're there the same time too. We'll be there the 21st-28.....how about you? We chose the Contemporary basically because it is the cheapest monorail resort. Plus, like you said, it's right by the Magic Kingdom. Since we always had to figure an extra hour of travel time in for all of our meals the last time, we're kind of looking forward to being able to just walk to Chef Mickey's and the Ohana breakfast at the Polynesian.

Well I'm glad you found a way to cheer yourself up a little. My neice is going to cosmetology school, and I keep telling her that I need to come in for a mani/pedi, but I never seem to make it. She is going to come do Anna's hair for the pictures tonight.

Dh finally made it back, and he had to go in and try some of the different pops too. I had told him there was a bad one, but I didn't tell him which one it was. What is it with these people?! :rotfl: A few years ago I tricked DBFF into trying Beverly, and as soon as she put the little paper cup to her mouth I started laughing with anticipation. But then she just swallowed it down and put it up to the thing for more!!! She looks at me before she drinks more and says "Why are you laughing?!" like I'm the crazy one! :lmao: She really liked it! Personally, I prefer the ginger ale one too!

I love the pictures of Anna posing! So cute, and so is her shirt! Goodness I wish I were more crafty! And I agree, Journey Into Imagination just isn't as good as it used to be! What was Addy's face like when she smelled the skunk?

Addy just wrinkled up her nose and looked at me like, "Mom! What the heck is that?!?!?!?" And then she held her nose :rotfl: . It was hilarious, and now she does it all the time.

I'm going to work on the next update, and you'll see that I had one of those shirts too. They really aren't hard to do, they're just iron on transfers. We got lots on compliments.........especially on the days when we were all wearing matching ones.

First and foremost, DH and I needed some lunch. Honestly, at home I don't often eat breakfast, so I'm not sure why I was so starving, but I was. I had eaten at Cantina de San Angel before, so I knew I like it, and I figured DH would too. Anna and I went to look for a table while DH ordered the food.

I got the Plato Combination and actually managed to eat most of it, except the Chicken Taco. My favorite part is the quesadilla because the way they make them here is the same way they were this awesome horse ranch I went to in Cancun. Brings back good memories :) . Adam had the Cantina Nachos, but he actually didn't eat a whole lot of them because he's not a fan of black beans or soggy chips. He didn't realize that they just plopped everything down together or he probably wouldn't have ordered it. Although Anna said she wasn't hungry, she did manage to eat most of the churros.

Ok, I know this makes some people crazy, but Anna's favorite part of this lunch was feeding the birds. Of course they're going to stay there if people feed them, but they didn't pester us or anything. Plus, Anna was bored since she wasn't eating, so it gave her something to do.

After we finished eating, we began our walk around the World. Now, I have to admit, we didn't spend much time in each country because Anna was a little bored. I think five may be a little young to take in the culture and beauty of each country. DH and I are planning a lot more time in each country when we go in January. Ok, I just realized that photobucket is uploaded the pictures backwards, so these picture are not in order. Hopefully you can follow our trip, even if the pictures are messed. As I said, we didn't really spend much time in any country, just kind of walked through.

I took a couple of pictures before we started walking.........

DisneyWorld490.jpg

DisneyWorld491.jpg

First up was Norway because, although we had eaten breakfast here, we hadn't really seen much of the actual country.
DisneyWorld492.jpg

And, of course, the waterfall. I was actually trying to recreate a picture my mom took of me on my very first trip to Disney when I was 8. I'm going to try to post that picture soon, but I have to get the album from my mom.

Then, it was on to the troll. I basically dragged DH into the store because I knew it was in there........he thought I was a little nuts because we had already been in there to get a pressed penny and he hadn't seen the troll. He ended up having fun with it though.

Ok, the rest of this update will be mostly pictures. Honestly, we basically just walked past/through each country and into a few of the gift shops looking for pressed penny machines (and we didn't find many). The food and wine festival was, of course, going on during the time that we were there, but we didn't try very much neither DH or I are very adventurous eaters. I had wanted to try a few more of the wines, but I don't really like to drink in front of Anna, so I just stuck with the Grey Goose slush in France. We did try the Strawberry Shortcake from San Francisco, and we had the Cheddar Cheese soup from Canada which became the basis for our reservation at Le Cellier in January. Ok, on to the pictures.

Anna loved these puppets, but they were pretty expensive.

We didn't visit the troll last year, but we did before. I tell DH that the troll is so ugly hes cute. Hehe. We have never ate at the mexican place b/c I'm not a huge fan of mexican. Also I have heard very mixed reviews about their food. I'm glad you liked it though. Where was your dh's pink shirt with the mickey princess ears? :rotfl2: j/k I couldn't resist saying something though. Just couldn't convince him huh? I have never seen that waterfall...we really need to spend more time in the countries and explore them more so we can see stuff like that. Last year when we walked around the world we actually pin traded around the whole world, which was a lot of fun. I think I walked out of epcot that day with about 20 new pins. We're huge into the pin trading. I have two cork boards in my spare bedroom hanging up that are plastered in pins and also have a few of the pin books that are filled cover to cover. :scared1: We have quite a few! Hehe. DH sometimes buys them from ebay or disney shopping for me as surprises. Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip around the world!
