A new park?

I don't know if there is an ounce of truth to this, but on the bus I heard a CM talking about a 5th park would feature villains and Marvel.:confused3

I'd much rather see a return of all the great stuff they've cut over the years.

An amazing time in 4 parks is better than a good time in 5.

Outside of pertinent SOP, CMs will learn big news (like a new park) around the same time as the rest of the public. Take everything they say with a grain of salt.

As for the topic at hand, in all seriousness, I don't see it happening anytime in the next decade. There's nothing a new park can bring that they can't already offer at their existing four, and given the current economical climate of America it would be an enormous expenditure with little immediate gain. I imagine they'd open an international park long before we'll get a new one. Personally, I'm okay with that. There's enough improvement to be done to the existing four that an additional park seems like a waste of resources.

I had posted this during the summer, but I thought something like the proposed Disney America that was to go into Virginia would be cool.

Have a Main Street themed around a colonial street (ala liberty square) that leads to an icon in place of Cinderella's Castle (statue of liberty, mount rushmore etc.) Have lands for each region: northeast, southeast, midwest, southwest, and northwest (plus somewhere for hawaii and alaska too)

I doubt we would see an announcement of anything until at least 2015. You have the Fantasyland expansion and the Avatar expansion. Those are huge Capitol Expenditures that are going to be taking a lot of resources over the next few years.

Also, unless things get a lot better economically, I wouldn't expect anything in the current economic climate. Disney is already drawing people to those parks so expansions make sense. There is a customer driven demand for them. I don't think Disney is going to go with an "unknown" project until a few years of increasing profits so they are back where they had been.

Why do these threads ALWAYS have to be about "beating" US/IOA? I get so sick of people acting like Disney and US are like people's sports teams or their political affiliations. If you don't enjoy one or the other, fine.Does anyone have to prattle on about how much better one or the other is? Leave it alone already.

I would love to see a villain themed park/area. There they can fit in a few more "thrill" rides. I feel like it would fit the whole theme.

Because US/IOA is Disney's direct, and biggest, competition in the theme park market for the Orlando area? It makes sense to talk about "beating" them because you are fighting over market share.

I want Toy Story Land at HS! :goodvibes

The question was ment as a fun topic not as a serious boardroom meeting at Disney. I don't see it happening anytime soon either but just was wondering what people thought would be a fun fifth park.
Have fun!

I love both WDW and Universal, but I like WDW better. If they wanted to compete with Universal, they would have to:

Make Avatarland AMAZING
Make the whole Echo Lake land a Star Wars land
Expand PIXAR Place

Really? Because they're already competing with Universal (and winning).

As for making Avatarland amazing, I don't think that's part of the plans. Last I heard they were shooting for 'delightfully mediocre'.

Great idea. I love it!

I know. It's SO cute and colorful. I would love to visit this place someday. I would've been here yesterday -- but I don't know the first thing about traveling to Asia. I think Toy Story Land would be a huge success at HS! :goodvibes

Where did you get the pictures?

Ugh.. this land is so cute! Look at Slinky Dog! My kids would go bananas here, okay me too, lol. :yay: :cloud9:

LOL. I really hope Avatarland will be successful for Disney. :goodvibes

There are a lot of great suggestions in this thread! The villian theme park idea is kind of growing on me -- I think it's a great idea. My only concern is that an entire park dedicated to just villians would be too depressing. :)
