A new Mickey head symbol proposal

I can appreciate everyone's hard work with these creations, some great ideas. But to be perfectly honest I don't see why there needs to be a change. I know Pete doesn't like lime green as a color but that is the color that is synonomous with the DIS (even though it may not be ideal). I'm sure it's not coincidence that Disney pumps out lime green mickey head keychains and pins. They are quite aware of the DIS community. The DIS is much larger than just the podcast boards, and although it would be nice to be able to recognize a fellow podsquadder I feel we'd be leaving out all the other DIS and wdwinfo fans who would not be aware of any changes. Besides, Home Depot would be curious as to why they now have a surplus of Alien Green color swatches.

There are lime green Mickey head pins and keychains? ..... and they are there 'cause of us? How cool is that? Where have I been? I need to shop more.

I 100% agree. It would be great to recognize others. But at the same time I would like other DIS'ers to recognize me as well. I like the LGMH with the podcast emblem in the center but I just don't see it being necessary to change colors altogether. I know people are going to say "well you could always have both". Sure, you could I guess. But you could also just have one. I'm not trying to stir the pot, I'm just trying to think of the bigger picture.

Are you saying that if I was wearing, oh, say, the purple head with lime green ears, that you would refuse to approach me and acknowledge my DISness because I altered the color scheme?

The point is rather moot, IMO, because although I have COVERED myself in li'l green stick-on Mickeys, and during times of the year when there should be a decent number of DISers around, I have NEVER been approached by one! (Guess I'm just that scary-looking.... ).

You know...when we were on our honeymoon in 2002, I was a new DISer. I wore a little bit of green ribbon around my fanny pack thingy. I was so intimidated by meeting strangers, that I didn't really approach anyone with any lime green on...I did have someone recognize me though. At the time, I had a picture of me and DH in my signature. We were in the Land pavillion at Epcot in a gift shop when a guy came up to me and asked if I was on the DIS. He told me my screen name and said that he recognized me from my picture on the DIS. I was friendly and chatted with him for a bit (never did get his DIS name though) and that was it. To be honest, it freaked me out a bit...lol...now that i've been here for 6 years, it wouldn't be nearly as freaky to have someone identify me in the parks. But for a DISer who had only been on the boards for about 2 months at the time...creepy...

Since then, I have displayed my lime green proudly and not a single person has approached me! Oh well...i'll continue to wear the green and whatever we decide on for a podcast ID and see what happens!

Not only would I not approach you, I would run....arms flailing. Just kidding. I probably wouldn't approach as I am sorta shy but I have been approached wearing my DIS shirt. I tend to forget the LGMH.

People do look rather awkwardly though when I take my photos with "Flat Bawb". I have a few photos from our trip to DL a couple of weeks ago that I need to upload and post.

The first time I was approached by someone with a LGMH, they asked me my screen name all smiles and then their face fell. When she told me her name I realized she was the one who had ripped me a new one the week before for a comment I posted on the Community Board. AWKWARD!!!

If you've been a meanie, the new colors might be a good idea.

I have my username on the LGMH for that very reason. I figure if someone recognizes me and we've had some history...if it's good -- they'll say "hello", if not --they'll keep walking.

Yes (poor Home Depot!). I put two back to back and laminated them as they seem to hold up a little better that way.
