A new code twist....

I understand what you are saying. I simply found the code here a few weeks ago. I called, told them that I found it on the disboards. I asked if it applied to me, she said it did. I told her upfront, I did not receive an email, or pin, and she said I didn't need it:confused3

I can tell you are upset, never my intent. I did not read further than the first page before posting. From your original post it appeared that your mom was dishonest by saying she left her pin at home. Perhaps this is not the case now. Regardless, I do hope she has a great trip.

I have to agree here. Honesty is important, and it is too bad we forgo it so often. I too read the code, called and received the rates. I told them upfront that I had found the code on the internet, and I had not received anything, pin or otherwise. To me, lying would not have been worth the $800 savings. Luckily I was able to get the discount despite. I am certainly not trying to flame here, as I realize everyone has their own opinion on what is honest and what is not. I just think that many of us rush to twist the truth, this encourages our children to follow our example.

I too told the CM about the code but that I did not have a PIn. CM said I didn't need a pin and I booked it. Honestly KT Mom don't worry about the nasty naysayers. You did nothing wrong!!!!! I am HAPPY I got the code so I guess I will BRAG along with you!!!!!!:lmao:

When I read these threads I get upset at the ideas that "it was a white lie," "Disney would/could stopit if THEY wanted to," "Disney charges $4.00 for a bottle of water," etc. DISNEY does not force you to go! You choose to go there and spend money.
Everytime there is a price increase in dining, tickets, hotels, etc., there are many complaints. The yearly increases are due to added costs and lower revenues from the prior year. Using discount codes not intended for the individual adds to the cost for others when visiting Disney. These added costs are spread through the increase for tickets, hotels, parking, meals, etc. Having visited WDW for the past 20+years, we have never received one of the elusive codes. We book what we can afford and that is how we plan.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

This was in the rules and just wondering if anyone else read them. I am refering to the hateful part. Some people seem to be heading in that direction. This womens mom called, said she left the pin at home, (maybe not the best thing to do) called her daughter because she did not know about it. Her daughter told her to call back and tell them she did not have the pin and disney still honored it. Not the moms or daughter fault at all. Disney World is suppose to be fun. This does not seem fun. The whole pin thing might just be an advertising technique that is working and gaining more business for them. What about that. Hope everyone has a great time when they go. And remember what Walt Disney is all about.

DisDude2007...THanks! Let's all have a magical day because no one is promised tomorrow!:) Peace....

Your kidding right? Lets pretend for one minute that we know for sure that those of us that don't have a pin weren't supposed to get the code. Disney sets aside a certain number of rooms for this stuff I'm sure. As they do with AAA and AP and all that. They don't expect all the people that get the code to use it. They hope, but they do not expect it. These are for times when park attendance it typically down. So all the people that book it are spending money in the parks and restaurants and many are still paying upwards of $175 for their room. A room that might otherwise have been empty, netting Disney no money. There is no loss here for Disney.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the rising costs at Disney. Period. Disney is a money maker. Your right, no one is forcing us to go there and buy $4 bottles of water. No one is forcing the other millions of people who walk through those gates either who will go regardless of some 40% off code that was circulated on a message board they know nothing about.

I'm sorry, but I can't say "congratulations" to you. I am really appalled that first of all you knowingly told your Mom to lie about having a PIN and then expected a discount you weren't supposed to get. It's amazing that you/she got an offer, but why would you post something like this? I'm not "holier than thou" and can't say I've never taken advantage of a situation but I wouldn't post it on a message board as an accomplishment. I guess people feel it's okay to lie, cheat, and take advantage of Disney because after all, Disney has lots of money and are making money off us anyway, other people have done it and managed to get away with it knowingly, etc. but what kind of message does that send to others, esp. children? ---Kathy

Oh give me a freakin' break.

That's really great you did that. Don't judge others though, for not following your "fine example."

OP, hope you enjoy your stay at GF. Don't let the hooplah over this code bring down your trip!

HAVE A GOOD TIME!!!

Umm...lower revenues result in price increases. The shoplifters add to the bottom line cost for the items we all purchase in stores. The lost revenue is spread across the board to everyone who shops. The same is done for lost revenues within the Walt Disney Corporation.

Disneys stock is at $34 a share which is a $16 increase since jan 2003. Something tells me that Disney is not losing any money. That they are making a profit every year. She got a room. Who cares. I am happy for. At least no one yelled at her like some other postings have said. Lets move on and talk about something positive like the fact that those of you who have kids what a great time they will have.

kt mom...The minute you walk into GF....look up:) Its so beautiful. The outside eating area by Gasparillas is right by the marins, great spot! Id go back in a heart beat. But we got a great deal through Disney, doubt that will happen again! oops! I meant marina! Narcoosees has a deck perfect for watching Wishes and the pageant! You will have a great time!

"The yearly increases are due to added costs and lower revenues from the prior year."

Disney profits were up substantially last year. There was a memo on the Dis boards about that some time ago, not sure where it is.

So while healthy profits do not justify lying or cheating (if that's what you want to call it), please don't think Disney is just breaking even on price increases. They are making an *extremely* healthy profit, and have been for some time.

That's all from me! :)

This is my first post here and I have to admit this whole code/pin thing has me very confused. I know that my family is not eligible, since this is our first trip to WDW and my DH called just to see if there was any discounted rates on rooms at the times we are travelling and was told "no".

I am not trying to be judgemental in any way. But I read on another thread or board (wish I could remember where) that people who were booking the rooms with the CODE and no PIN, where getting the discount over the phone but upon check in, were asked to produce the PIN. Has anyone else heard this? People who couldn't give the pin upon check in were then told they couldn't receive the discount and were charged the extra cost of the room. Is this Disney Urban Myth or true...if it is true scarey stuff.

Anyways I guess I will just keep wishing and praying for free dining...:wizard:

As far as I know, so far that has not actually happned to anyone yet with this code. I think the first people going who don't think they have a PIN are going in March, so maybe by the end of March we'll know something more concrete. I know I have heard of people saying the are AP holders to get a discount, and when they couldn't show an AP at check in they were charged more, but I don't know if I've ever read where someone who had a PIN was charged more at check in without proof (but just because I haven't read that doesn't mean it hasn't happened)
