A Naughty Nothing & Crew take on WDW the Pretrip Update 7/26 Day 8 Pg. 8

After reading so many great trip reports, I decided to try my hand at writing one.

Cast
Me-Rebecca: OCD vacation planner, list maker, underwear-counting mama. My boys call me Mimi; I don’t mind it so I just go with it. Plus it makes it a lot easier in a crowd of moms and kids to hear them calling Mimi instead of mom. Truth be told I’m 36, but don’t tell my kiddos they think I’m 21. 2 years ago on my birthday Boo asked how old I was, I told him 19. It’s turned into a running joke and this year dh bought me a cake that had “Happy 21st bday”, it had a question mark candle he also bought me a bottle of raspberry beer to celebrate my 21st bday. Favorite ride: Splash Mtn. Favorite character: Mickey of course! I’ve been to Disney many times, mostly before getting hitched and having sprouts.

DS8-Brendan or Boo: He loves Disney, everything about Disney he can’t get enough. He was tall enough last September to ride everything and cannot wait to do it again! He also loves nature and the environment. This boy can catch a monarch butterfly with no net and not damage its wings. He’s also hatched about 100 chrysalises in the last 4 years. He loves finding monarch caterpillars and then letting the butterflies go when they emerge. He is big into recycling and hates when people litter also. At Disney World he loves to catch those little lizards, last time he caught 7. He’s looking to break his record. Favorite ride: Rock N Roller Coaster. Favorite characters: Mickey and Mulan. He’s been to Disney 2 times previously.

DS5-Justin, Jman or Super J: Loves Disney, maybe not as much as his big brother, but in his own way. This is my electronic boy. He would become a slug if we allowed him to. He loves his brothers Nintendo DS, which is okay since Boo doesn’t care for it. He gets super embarrassed when Minnie Mouse kisses him, but loves to tell people about it. Also like to catch butterflies and lizards. He isn’t as successful yet though. Favorite rides: Pirates of the Caribbean and Peter Pan. Favorite characters: Mickey and Stitch. He’s been to Disney 2 times previously.

MIL-Carol or Gma: She’s going to help with the boys. I personally think she needs a vacay away from DFIL, so I invited her along. We get along great. When she and fil found out I was pregnant with Boo, they sold their house and moved to Michigan from Iowa. My boys have her wrapped around their little fingers and arms and legs! She has problems with her back and knee so we will probably move at a slower pace than I’m used to. She likes Disney; she’s been twice once when dh was in high school and with us in ’04.

We will be at the world from Aug. 25-Sept. 3. We will be flying out of Chicago-O’Hare. Yeah, my least favorite airport. Gma had some vouchers from United so O’Hare it is. I’ve never flown with my kids before, we usually drive. I’m kind of nervous about this. Boo wants to drive, but dh feels we should fly since he isn’t going. Plus we are coming home the day before school starts, which would mean we would have to leave a day earlier to come home if we drove. Now would be a good time to explain why dh isn’t traveling with us.

DH-Brian: Loves Disney once every other year. Since we went last year he decided he would like to take a hunting trip with some friends to South Dakota. Since he loves hunting, I was fine with it. It will also give him a chance to really work our dog Speck. We spent lots of money training him to hunt so I was glad he would be taking him. Anyway being the best husband he said, “why don’t you and the kids go to Disney.”? Um, okay don’t have to tell me twice. Thus this plan was born. Gma would come since I like a man on man defense. Plus Boo is tall enough to ride everything and Jman isn’t. I would hate for Boo to miss out on things he really wants to do.

We are staying at Pop Century, a first for us. We love POR and are kind of excited to try something new. I would love to hear some good things about Pop. We also have free dining starting on the 26th. This will be the second time we’ve had free dining. I was prepared to pay for the DDP, but free is so much better! I even thought of upgrading to a moderate resort, but I think the boys will love Pop. They are really looking forward to the slushie machine!

We are all early riser (5:30 for Jman everyday!). We have 3 late nights planned for Fantasmic, Illuminations and Wishes. We are skipping Spectro this trip. The nights it is showing just don’t mesh with our schedule. I’m a Tour Guide Mike kinda gal. We’ve used him 3 times and will continue to do so. I highly recommend TGM!

I’ve got my lists made, ADRs are all set. I’ve purchased my lime green baggallini and love it. I’ve got my lime green mickey heads. I’m good to go, now will August ever get here?

How should I decorate my resort window and door? What do other people put on theirs? Looking for all ideas! Please help!

A funny thing. I was reading your trip report out loud. So, the kids could hear it. My ds5 Justin, perked up when he heard me say his name. He says hey, wait a minute. He comes, and looks at the picture of your son. He says, hey mom that's me. They have the wrong picture . I told him. No, that is a different Justin. You both share the same name. He said oh ok. Kids, I tell you.

I think we have 60 something days to go!!

A few more pics of my so cute little men. First is the pic we used for our christmas card this year. Dh says that is the look that keeps him coming back to Disney.

Miyuki, the candy lady had made he a giraffe, if you've followed the Nothing thread, I'm not crazy about giraffes especially the freaky tongues. This didn't have a tongue and Justin thought it was delicious.

That's all I have tonight, I can't get my pics to download right now onto photobucket. I hope I have better luck tomorrow.

I've never stayed at POP but we are trying it out in February. Our last trip we stayed at ASM (Suites) and I decorated my window. I think I was the only one. I read on the DIS that lots more people decorate at POP. I'll be doing that again next trip. I bought some Mickey & Minnie Thanksgiving window clings, went to Michaels and bought Disney stickers, put them on foam, cut them out and used little suction cups to attach it to the window. I'll have to check my pictures to see if I have a photo I could post for you.
