After reading some of the post here in the last couple of days I have come to realize a sad fact. If the Dis boards represent a cross section of America, this nation is in some serious trouble.

I agree. Right now we are not Republicans or Democrats, we are NOT conservatives or Liberals we are NOT black or white. We are Americans. I wish people would stop it already!

I couldn't agree more. This president that was supposed to be the great unifier has failed miserably.

Yep...

The issues are too HUGE. Impossible to come together right now. People are angry.

Did you hear the Mayor of NO?

And this statement of yours, insulting our President, will help how??

I was just thinking this. Instead of coming together, half the people on this board seem hell-bent on blaming one official or another.

If you dislike what's going on so much, then shut up and run for office. Otherwise pitch in and make a difference by donating your time, money or effort. But quit backseat driving!

Oh and have you noticed the complainers are the same ones over and over again? You can look at past posts and see an obvious pattern here.

Whine, whine, whine.

And this is what I mean......

It quotes like this that just fuels the fire.

I did not start this to debate the same thing thats in the other thousand of threads here.

I posted this to state a sad fact I am seeing. I really am tired of the same arguments thread after thread.

Instead of making things worse what can reasonably done to put things back together. And please don't say something stupid like get rid of the president, blah, blah, blah. Lets all be realistic.

Sorry to upset you. Wasn't meant as an insult...just an explanation. But my disappointment in his lack of leadership doesn't interfere with my love for my country and my fellow citizens or my deep gratitude and appreciation for our blessed democracy :grouphug:

Coming together just isn't going to happen. It started back in the 90's with the Republicans that just couldn't bring themselves to accept Clinton. Then the power shifted and now it's the Democrats that can't stomach Bush. Almost 16 years of bitter partisan politics. It's 50/50 and, sadly, I don't know what event or election that is going to change that any time soon.

Well, since this is apparently another rah rah thread for the President, I'll refrain from sharing any ideas since it was apparently just a rhetorical question anyway.

I understand that but right now can't people just for once put politics aside and act compassionate?

Sometimes you just have to bite your tongue and do whats needed.

I love this country too and our blessed democracy, and I am proud of our President's leadership. :sunny:

You know what's funny.

I think it is a different division than existed before katrina was even a rain storm in the Atlantic.

(and assuming that those who are enraged are sitting back and doing nothing is a poor assumption).

How in the world could you possibly know what my political views are? I'm asking this as an American, not a republican or democrat.

I bet they work together whenever there is a chance of a legitimate 3rd party being formed.

Unfortunatly it looks like you are right. I thought maybe, just maybe we could have ONE compassionate thread on here but I guess not.

And some of those who are upset with the situation---are just being an upset American.
