A MUCH needed trip...April 15-23, 2008...LOTS of pictures!! **UPDATED 7/27**

Hi Everyone,
We are back! We had an excellent time, but we are exhausted :worried: I suddenly became sick again today (head cold AGAIN!) Well at least I didn't get sick during the trip!

I hope to start my TR this weekend! Stay tuned for lots of pictures and fun! :rotfl:

Sorry you are sick. I can't wait for you to start your trip report!

I got you over to our regular board. Sorry you are not feeling good. What is with the cold season lasting forever.

I was at WDW 4 years ago, with the exact same dates. Looking forward to seeing how the crowd level was. The only difference was, it was Easter when we went. But the crowds really thinned out after Easter.

So the day FINALLY arrived...the day we leave for Disney World!! :cool1: DH and I woke up at 5:45am. We actually slept well, which is unusual for a night before a trip. After showering and some last minute packing, we loaded the car (including our dog Jewel) and were on our way! First we had to drop off Jewel at doggy daycare, where she will be staying all week. It was our first time leaving her, but I wasn't too nervous. I knew she would do just fine!

Here is our Jewel...she thinks she's just going to doggy daycare for the day...

Luckily there was no traffic to the airport. We arrived at 8:45, and had to take a shuttle bus from the parking lot to the terminal. With plenty of time and no long lines, we were at the gate in no time! DH decided to get an OJ and a croissant from Dunkin Donuts, and I had an egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel, mmmmmm! We were flying Southwest, and they recently changed their line up to get onto the plane. We had A16 and A17...we were about the 3rd and 4th people on the plane! Sweet, we can pick any row we want, so we picked the exit row of course. Lots more leg room. The flight was completely full, but was on time for a 10:30 departure.

The flight was uneventful (which is a good thing of course ;) ) and we arrived in Orlando at about 1:30. Now, there is something about this airport that gives us a warm feeling inside...I mean, palm trees INSIDE an airport?? How much cooler can it get??

IMG_1097.jpg

There was a cold front going through the Orlando area that day, so it was only about 70 degrees when we landed. DH wasn't very happy about this, in fact it sort of dampened his day a bit. He is used to going to WDW in July, so feeling that hot and humid temperature is an important part of first arriving. :sad2: I kept trying to tell him to shake it off...we are on our way to DISNEY WORLD!! :thumbsup2

I sat in the front of the tram that took us to the baggage claim, so I snapped a picture of the view...

We got our luggage and headed over to pick up a rental car. We got the smallest rental...since it was only the 2 of us we didn't need too much room. A silver Chevy Cobalt. We drove right to the check out gate and were on on our way! We rolled into Disney at 2:25pm. We are making some excellent time!

The picture that everyone has...

And some pictures on our way to the Boardwalk...

IMG_1110-1.jpg

We arrived at the Boardwalk and checked in. Our room wasn't ready yet...darn! They gave us a phone number to call later to see if our room was ready. From there we went over to the concierge to purchase our passes. DH got an 8 day hopper, and I got a 7 day, since I would be meeting up with my sister all day Saturday and wouldn't be going to the parks that day.

After that we decided that instead of driving off property to Winn Dixie or Goodings, we would go down to the "Screen Door" store on the Boardwalk to pickup a few basics. From home I brought paper plates, plastic utensils, straws, plastic cups, napkins and PB & J, so all we needed to buy was bread, milk, water, breakfast foods, and Cool Ranch Doritos. :goodvibes This will get us by until Friday, when DH's family arrives and we move over to the BCV.

IMG_1113.jpg

We headed back up to the lobby to give our groceries to the bell man, and decided to go down to the ESPN club for a beer...CHEERS!:drinking1

IMG_1114.jpg

After our beer we called the BW...our room was ready! Room #4111. That's easy enough to remember...

We made our way back up to the BWV, up the elevator to the 4th floor. We were so excited, walking very fast to the room. Now, the signs in the hotel hallways that tell you which way to go to your room are apparently very misleading to DH and I. We were walking so fast, that we both glanced at the first sign and headed left down a hallway. We went ALL the way down to the end...no room 4111. Huh?? We went the total WRONG way! :lmao: It was pretty funny at the time! So we turned around and walked all the way back. Our room was pretty much the complete opposite way, all the way at the end!

Here are some pictures of our room and a view from our deck...

I just found your TR and love the pics. :) Cannot wait to read more.

Welcome, thank you!

Ok, so we left our room and walked to Epcot. Ahhh, our first walk to Epcot...this is what we've been waiting so long for! I even said to DH, "enjoy this very moment...the beginning of our vacation!" He smiled and said "yes, your right!" Upon entering Epcot, we both noticed right away how crowded it was. Eeek! Is this how the rest of the week was going to be?? We'll see I guess!

We had some time to kill, so we went over to the new Seas with Nemo ride. 25 minute wait! We waited anyway. Cute new ride, I liked it! Very well done. Loved the seagulls out front...mine, mine, mine. Love it! :lmao:

I snapped some photos while in line for Nemo...

We then headed over to Spaceship Earth, but the line was way to long...something like 40 minutes! We didn't have time for that, so we headed over to Mexico for our 6pm ADR. The Mexico ride line looked decent, so we did that first. It was OK, I kind of miss the old ride, but it was OK I guess! I know the old ride was very 70's, with the hot tub scene and all, but come on...it was the best! And we also missed the old song that used to be played thoughout the ride :sad1: However, I did think the Donald Duck additions were very cute.

It was now time to check in for our ADR's. We got a beeper and decided to walk around the gift area. We noticed that there were big bins everywhere with bags of Tostito brand chips in them for sale. Hmmm, what was this about? For a moment I thought, have they changed the type of chips they give you in the restaurant? No way, that would be the dumbest thing they could ever do. Now, you have to understand, DH and I LOVE Mexican food, and it ALL starts with what type of chips and salsa they give you...we are very picky and snobby about our Mexican food. :snooty:

Our buzzer buzzed in no time, and we were off to our seats. A nice table very close to the water...sweet! Our waiter came and brought us our free chips and salsa    Tostito Brand chips!!! How could they!!?? For those of you who don't remember their old chips, they were freshly made, warm out of the oven, and DELICIOUS! Tostito Chips? We couldn't believe it. Why does everything have to be sponsored these days?? What a bummer. I soon had to get over it, and ordered my favorite...A margarita, mmmmmm. DH got one too. You can also see my DH holding up a crappy chip in the background. :guilty:

IMG_1138.jpg

We ordered our food, I got the Pollo A Las Rajas - grilled chicken breast served over red peppers, onions, chile poblano, chorizo and melted cheese. It's what I always get, and I loved it! I can't find the exact name of what DH got, but it was a steak with 2 taco things on the side. It may have been a special that night, I cannot find it on allearsnet. Anyways, he liked his meal too. We both also got a second margarita!

Here is a picture of my plate. I apologize, I took a couple bites before I remembered to take the picture! Oops, I'm new at this!!

IMG_1139.jpg

After our meal, we headed to Norway to check out the ride. Again, line was very long but we decided to try it out. After about 5 minutes of standing in line, we realized the line wasn't moving, at all. We decided to ditch that and look around in the gift shop. We saw the most expensive sweater in all of Disney..the $395 sweater! Has anyone actually bought one of these??

IMG_1145-1.jpg

And of course we had to get this picture...

IMG_1146-1.jpg

After that we headed over to China. There was some sort of private party going on, and we couldn't go through the front entrance! We were very confused at first, but then realized we could go around to the exit and enter the movie from there. We liked the updated movie. After looking in the china gift shop, we headed to Germany where we saw this...

The $37,500 castle! Whow! Maybe someday, if we ever hit the lottery...

IMG_1150-1.jpg

After that, while walking past America, a cover band was playing in the outdoor theatre. They were pretty good! They were singing Daydream Believer, and DH and I had to stop and listen...DH loves that song!!

We then headed to France, where DH decided to get the Kroninberg Beer, and I decided to get the Lemon version of the Grand Marnier Orange Slush. They were both excellent!

IMG_1155-1.jpg

IMG_1156.jpg

At this point we both realized how incredibly cold out it was!! :sad2: Brrr! We started to walk toward the exit and made our way back to the room. On the way, DH got a peanut butter caramel cup at the Sweet Shop Bakery on the Boardwalk. He shared it with me, it was delicious!

We were both very tired and went to bed at 10:30.

Tomorrow we will be heading to the Animal Kingdom in the morning! :woohoo:

That is awful about the chips!! I am sure they have had many complaints on that one...:sad2: Your food looks great though! YUM!

Just found your TR, and I am loving it. I like all the pics ... but that is terrible that they don't have home-made chips at Mexico.

Sounds like a good time was had by all at Epcot:goodvibes , my DH & I have 1 of those sweater's each:scared1: , NO only joking:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: . Looking forward to reading more:thumbsup2

Oh a magarita and a grey goose citron slushie, I want, I want!

It was yummy! :drinking:

I just wish I knew about it before going. We probably would have still gone there, but at least I would have been prepared! The food was great though.

Haha! No really, I'm waiting for someone to be like..."Yeah, I have one of those sweaters." Then I'll feel bad for making fun.

I still can't believe that you are back and already writing your report. My gosh how time flies!

Loving the report. Bummer about the chips. Seems like a lot of things around WDW have been changing. No more special home made touches but rather sponsored items. :confused3

Looking forward to more! :goodvibes
