A Mouse, Two Little Minnows who wear out Grumpy and Test Track Moves to Naples 11/26

1. I said it over on Karin's thread, but I'll say it here, too!

party:HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NICKY! party:

And I get being freaked out about turning 40. I was fine with turning 30, was happy about it even, but this March I turn 35 and I'm completely freaking out that I'm that much closer to 40. :scared1:

2. I stay away for a single day and end up four pages behind??? WOW.

3. Tim, I've used your directions myself, they work, they're great, thank you.

4. And, finally, Kathy...sounds like you had a truly magical day at MK. How wonderful for you. Love the picture of you and Grumpy at the Plaza.

5. Your story about the balloon and your dad never fails to bring a tear to my eye... its a beautiful tradition you've started.

Just read your last MK update! Push sounds so adorable! I have never seen him, I'd love to run into him! I love how he told the characters who passed by about you guys!

The Plaza looks great! I always forget about that place when I do my ADR's, I will have to try to remember for next time!

I love your balloon tradition, that is so nice! :lovestruc Sounds like you found the perfect family to give it to!

Those birds at the gas station are so weird! :rotfl:

Thanks, Tina. It was a great day at the MK...we really enjoyed it.

I don't mean to make people tear up with my balloon story. :sad1:

Hey, Jen. PUSH was really cute..we had fun with him. Yes, add The Plaza for your next trip. Glad you like my balloon tradition.

I was afraid to get out of the car when I saw those birds. Mark walked right by them and, in his typical fashion, stopped to talk to them. I swear the man has no fear. They were just too scary looking to me especially since I'd never seen anything that looked like them.

Don't feel bad...I am very sentimental about things and cry very easily. Too easily, really. One of my quirks, I guess. :rotfl:

So do I; I still cry at The Wizard of Oz. ;)

I cried watching an episode of Glee tonight! Everyone I teach with knows not to be alarmed and even my students are used to me tearing up at awards ceremonies and things like that. I was always kind of bad, but it got a lot worse when I got pregnant and that (and some baby weight) have not gone away!

Happy Birthday Nicki!!!!

Trust me the big 4-0 is not so scary and you still have a couple of years left!

Have a great day, feel like I know you from all of Kathy's reports and yours too!:goodvibes

Thanks Amy! I feel like I know you too, Kathy has such great things to say about you guys and we have "talked" on the Dis before ;)

Thank you! I was the same way! Turning 35 was awful because I was in my mid 30's but this is worse because I am in my late 30's!!!!

A HUMONGOUS thank you to my best friends Kathy and Mark for the Princess fruit bouquet, Princess balloon and decorative container! You guys are the bestest and the fruit was amazing! We love you both!

I just showed Joe the hat pictures I quoted in my reply on the previous page and we were both rolling with laughter. He didn't think they were all from WDW because we've never seen anything THAT nutty! We love it!

I'm so glad you liked it (I remember you saying you aren't a big "flower" lover). Now, I want to see a picture of you in the crown. ;) We love you both too.

Thanks, Brook. Did he think Grumpy was totally "goofy?" I'm glad you enjoyed them.

I'm worn out and I wasn't hanging with the minnows! You are an updating fiend! I knew I was behind but holy cats!

I love the eyeore and tigger ears, how much fun you guys have! So much to comment on. I'm glad you finally had a slushie. :thumbsup2

I'm with you on the merchandise selection, hoping there are new things in May as it was a bit disappointing.

Looking forward to hearing about Marco!

I am glad Kathy says good things about me considering I freeloaded pancakes off her and Mark last August!

One of these days I'll get back to Marco Island and meet you face to face!

Hope you had a great birthday and I can't wait to read the latest dining reviews for your trip next month!

Sorry, Cynthia. They just keep me hopping over here. ;)

We do have fun. If you can't have fun at Disney World, where can you?

I can't wait to have another one of those slushies. They were so good.

Merchandise seemed the exact same as last year. :confused3

Hopefully, a Marco update tonight.

My mom cried at the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I'm not making this up.

I don't even know what to say......

My kids stopped going to movies with me a long time ago because they never knew when I was going to cry. You should have seen me when I went to see Marley & Me. Then our youngest went with us to see The Blind Side and, of course, I cried at the end and he just did one of these :rolleyes1

Just a fly by post !!Have to get to work in a few !!Chat tonight !!!

Looking forward to it, Rosie.

just stopping by to make sure I'm all caught up! can't wait to read more!

Hoping to get an update done tonight.

So we had been looking forward to this day for a year. As a refresher, I met Nicki here on the DIS. We became email/DIS/FB buddies and we met last year when we first went to Marco Island. Unfortunately, we only had time to see her once because she had to fly to Boston for a family funeral. Then in April, Mark was in Florida on business, and he met Nicki and Todd for dinner one night. In the meantime, Nicki and I talked each day and just became closer and closer friends and couldn't wait to spend some quality time together.

So I was up at 7 a.m. and in the shower, dressed and woke Mark up to get in the shower. While he was showering, I sat out on the porch/balcony to watch for dolphins. Here are a few pics of the condo and our view:

Mark got out of the shower and dressed and we drove here to meet Nicki:

I ordered my two cappucinos and Mark ordered a coffee and a danish. Now, Mark does NOT drink Starbucks coffee at home because he feels it tastes like soap or perfume; he's a Dunkin Donuts coffee man . But there are no Dunkin Donuts where we were and he said he would suffer (he actually said the coffee at this Starbucks wasn't quite so bad). We grabbed a table and waited for Nicki to show up. We were early...do you think I was anxious to see her?????

And then we "heard" the sports car and knew that she had arrived. Hugs and kisses were given out and Nicki went inside to get her coffee before she came to join our table.

Here are a few pictures from last year's first meeting because I forgot to bring the camera the first morning (no worries...I have pictures from dinner with her and Todd on two nights and our final day together):

We sat and talked for over an hour before Nicki had to go to work. I am telling you that it is like I found my "long lost sister." I have two brothers and no sisters and always wish I had one. Well, I do now! Nicki and I just hit it off immediately last year and it continued, over all the miles, to this visit. We just have such a good time together...we laugh, we cry, we worry, we cheer, etc. Our family life from when we were younger is similar (sibling problems, parent problems, etc). I just love her so much and am so glad that the DIS brought her into our lives.

Nicki went to work and Mark and I went back to the condo. This was my "laundry" day because we had packed lightly so to keep down on luggage charges on the plane. Mark got ready for the pool and went down there while I started the laundry. He came back up around 1 or so to make us sandwiches and we sat outside on the patio and ate our lunch and watched for dolphins. We saw a couple in the distance but it is almost impossible to get pictures of the dolphins. Mark went back to the pool after lunch and I continued to do laundry and I also got caught up on the DIS, office email, etc.

After Mark came upstairs, he took a shower and we got ready to go to dinner. One of our favorite places on Marco Island is the Sand Bar. It is a sports bar with really, really good food and reasonable prices.

We had mozzarella sticks for an appy:

Mark had Tilapia:

And I had Fried Shrimp:

It was all very yummy.

After dinner, we stopped at one of the many souvenir stores and did a little shopping. Along the way, I got a picture of these guys. They are around here and there. But when it rains, they come in bunches and make really loud noises:

We stopped at 7-Eleven after dinner and souvenir shopping because Mark needed gas in the car. I went and paid for the gas and decided to buy two $5 scratch tickets. We've won a couple times -- $100 or $200 (my dad used to win $1000 twice a year sometimes) and I thought we'd give it a shot in Florida. I scratched my ticket and it was a loser. Mark scratched his when he got back in the car after filling up the tank. He kept looking at it while he was scratching and I said to him, "a loser?" He said, "no, I think I just won $500." I couldn't believe it. Wouldn't that be a nice thing for vacation...we could spend a little extra and enjoy ourselves even more. So I looked at the ticket and sure enough he won $500. The gal working in the 7-Eleven didn't look too bright so I suggested we wait and cash it in the next day (you can cash $600 and less where you purchased it, otherwise you have to go to a district office). So he got his seat belt on, turned on the car and I said, "let me look at that ticket again." I just couldn't believe it; plus Grumpy tends to not scratch the entire ticket and I just wanted to doublecheck it one more time. Well, NOT to my surprise, he had forgotten to scratch the last two numbers in all of his excitement. And he had won $1000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

We couldn't get over it. It was surreal. I immediately called Nicki and told her that dinner was on us the next night. We had planned on buying dinner anyway because they had bought dinner when Mark was there in April (although he could have gotten reimbursed by his work). Nicki started arguing with me on the phone and said, "no you are not; let's not start that again." And I said, "yes we are." Nicki, "no you are not." Mark is yelling in the background that we are. I finally said to Nic, "we just won $1000 and we are buying dinner...I don't want to hear another word." Well, it didn't actually keep her speechless, but she was whooping and yelling and saying it couldn't happen to two nicer people.

So our first full day on Marco Island was a thrilling one to say the least. I got to see my best friend and we won $1000.

We took a walk on the dock and then went upstairs to watch a little television and relax.

Up next, what do we do on our second full day on Marco Island when it is cloudy and raining off and on?

Is this the same condo your boss let you use last year?

What a great view of the canals! I wish I had my boat down there. ::yes::

I'm glad you finally got to visit with Nicki!!!!

Your dinner looks really good!

You won $1000 on one ticket? I thought you had 2 tickets. Wow! $1000 on one ticket.... NICE!!!!!

Told you the Yankees were going to win today! ;) :goodvibes

Hi, Tim. It's actually not my boss. It is a lawyer that used to work at our firm (he left two weeks after we returned from his condo last year for another firm). Markie coached his younger son in wrestling at the youth level and we have become very good family friends. He's already told us to just give him our dates for next year and the condo is ours again. :yay::yay::yay:

We do have a great view of the canals, and the beach entrance is a few blocks away (long blocks...so we drive and park the car and then walk to the beach).

Dinner was scrumptious. Yes, it was on one ticket that we won the $1000.

More good times (and interesting times ;) with Nicki coming up).

Yes, you did tell me your Yankees would win today. I am still hoping they win it all (I do love Kerry Wood).

Ooooooh can't wait to see what trouble you 2 got in to. :lmao:

Not sure about Friday but a gritty pitcher will be going. Andy has GUTS! :goodvibes
