A memory question for the men (updated)

Do you remember important dates like birthdays and anniversaries on your own? If not, do you prefer being reminded by your significant other?

Friday night marks one year that me and my 1.0 boyfriends (thanks Tag Fairy ) have been dating. He has yet to say anything to indicate that he remembers so I'm wondering if he does. I realize this has nothing to do with how much he loves me. He is a very busy man (a medical resident in the midst of a job search) and is self-described as having a hard time remembering special dates.

If you were him, would you want me to casually mention it tonight? I'm not even sure most men would remember the anniversary of a first date. Why is stuff like this so much more important to women?

I think I am generally pretty good with those, but would generally also think that most would not remember the date of a first date. I do recall ours, Thanksgiving Day, '68. A gentle reminder will be fine, but gentle, please. And congratulations, TB.

Chances are slim he remembers the date. Doesn't mean he won't think its important but heck, most of us guys are not even sure what today's date is, let alone the date of something that's happened since the last time we slept.

Maybe try the approach that you want to do something special for the first anniversary of your first date this friday and see what he comes up with. Chances are he'll make the effort once given a clue that he's supposed to.

If not, either do it for him and he'll get a minor upgrade to 1.1 or just upgrade to a new version 2.0

I have never forgotten a birthday or anniversary. I couldn't tell you other dates such as first time we went out, etc. But that would be over 30 years ago.

He actually brought it up last night!! He asked if our one year is on the 15th or the 16th. Its the 14th - but that sure is close! Thanks y'all! And thanks Dan for the congrats. I'm definitely not trading in for the 2.0 model!
